JENNIFER CHILDS · Director · Jen is the Artistic Director of 1812 Productions, for whom
she has created and performed in The Big Time, Another Big Time, Like Crazy Like Wow,
Something Wonderful Right Away and the recent Always A Lady. She has been directing,
performing and teaching in the Philadelphia area for the last twelve years. Jen is the recipient
of a Best Supporting Actress Barrymore Award, the 1999 F. Otto Haas Award for an
Emerging Theater Artist and a 2000 Independence Foundation Fellowship in the Arts. She is
the Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Stockton Rush Bartol Foundation and an
instructor at the University of the Arts. Big love to Scott and Lily.
GENE BENDER · Musical Director · Gene returns for his twelfth Mask and Wig Show. An
honorary member of the Undergrad Club, Gene has been active in professional theater for
over thirty years as a director, music director and performer. Regional directing and/or music
directing credits include: A Chorus Line, Evita, The World Goes 'Round, Sweeney Todd, Man
of La Mancha, Follies, Little Shop of Horrors, Steel Magnolias, Starting Here, Starting Now,
Pippin, West Side Story and Cabaret. He has also served as a faculty member at the Walnut
Street Theatre. Gene has an extensive background in vocal/choral literature, and is the
Director of the award-winning Valley Forge Chorus of Sweet Adelines, Inc. - the 2003
International MidSize Chorus Champions!
KAREN GETZ · Choreographer · Karen is thrilled to be back with Mask and Wig for her
third year. She’s worked with 1812 Productions, The Arden, The Walnut, Interact, The
Philadelphia Shakespeare Festival, Act II Playhouse, The Lantern, Azuka, Theatre Ariel,
The University of The Arts, Pig Iron, Villanova, Eternal Spiral and Tapestry Theatre, of
which she is co-artistic director. Karen is twice a nominee for the Barrymore Award for
excellence in choreography. Her work this season has included the BIG BANG (ACT II/
Kimmel Center), The Fourth Annual Female Funnyfest (Tapestry Theatre) and Always a
Lady (1812, with the incomparable Jen Childs). You can catch her improvising with
Comedysportz, Lunchlady Doris or Thirteen Skirts just about every Saturday night at The
Playground.
THOM BUMBLAUSKAS · Scenic Designer · Thom Bumblauskas is originally from
Chicago and now resides in Philadelphia and New York City. His work on The Sword and the
Stone at Virginia's Theater IV earned him the Phoebe Award for Best Scenic Design for a Play
(2000), and he is a two-time semi-finalist for the Barrymore's Emerging Theatre Artist
Award. Current projects: The Wild Party at Media Theatre (PA), The Tender Land at
ViVente Opera (MD), Brigadoon at Maine State Music Theatre (ME), Mary's Wedding at
Act II Playhouse (PA) and Art Director for "Christina Cooks" on PBS with international
distribution. Thom's work has also been seen at The Maryland Arts Festival (MD), Music
Theatre of Wichita (KS), Lenape Regional Performing Arts Center (NJ), Bristol Riverside
Theatre (PA), and Curtis Opera (PA), as well as on both stages at Walnut Street Theatre
(PA), among others. Thom is a member of IATSE/United Scenic Artists Local 829.
PETER J. JAKUBOWSKI · Lighting Designer · Peter Jakubowski is an award-winning
freelance designer in his seventh season with Mask and Wig. Designs include Philadelphia
Shakespeare Festival’s Othello, King Lear, Measure for Measure, Taming of The Shrew, A
Winter’s Tale, Merchant of Venice, Much Ado About Nothing, Hamlet and Macbeth, Colorado
Ballet’s Snowy Range Summer Dance Festival, and Koresh Dance Company. Recently he’s
designed Chicago and The King and I for Maine State Music Theatre. He’s also designed for
the Walnut Street Theatre, North Shore Music Theatre, Lenape Regional Performing Arts
Center, Prince Music Theater/AMTF, Curtis Opera and InterAct, to name a few.
TINA MARIE GREEN-HEINZE · Costume Designer · Tina is happy to be returning for
her fifth year with Mask and Wig. She is the resident costume designer for American Family
Theatre Arts for Youth, the resident children’s theatre company at the Kimmel Center in

Mark and Cynthia Mancini
Philadelphia and the largest nationally touring children’s theatre company in the United
States. Tina is president of Tina’s Productions, Inc. (of Cherry Hill, New Jersey), a costume
rental house, where she works with theatres and special event groups. She is the co-costume
designer for the Boscov/Channel 6 Thanksgiving Day Parade for the city of Philadelphia.
Tina has designed and built costumes for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat,
A Chorus Line, 1776, Miss Saigon and Noises Off at the Lenape Regional Performing Arts
Center. Other credits : When Pigs Fly - Boston Lyric Stage, Sweet Charity and Crazy for You
- University of the Arts, Menopause the Musical - first national tour. When not working,
Tina devotes all she has to her two beautiful boys Christopher and Nicholas and her very
patient husband Bob.
MICHAEL COHEN · Composer/Arranger · Michael is happy to be working on his fourth
Mask and Wig show. It’s certainly an upgrade from writing music for movies about good oldfashioned Republican family values in Los Angeles (Michael can’t tell you how many times
he’s had to compose variations on “bow-chik-a-bow-bow”). He also brings in the rent
money selling cotton candy, funnel cake and $5 sunglasses on Santa Monica Boulevard under
the name “Vanilla Honey.” If you want to see some of his work, you can go rent the movie
The Hebrew Hammer (despite the title, this is not Hasidic porn).
MICHAEL GOLISANO · Composer/Arranger · Michael C. Golisano of Cranbury, New
Jersey is a dual degree student in the College and Wharton, studying Sociology and Marketing
with a minor in Music. The drummer in the Mask and Wig Band for four years, his Wig
responsibilities have included Comfest chair, PAC representative, bandleader and
undergraduate chairman. After graduation Mike will be working for Merrill Lynch, and
hopes to one day go back to school for an MBA or higher degree. Thanks go out to Mom,
Dad, Steven, Kevin, Courtney, all friends and family, Mask and Wig grad and undergrad
members, the production staff, and everyone else who has helped him along the way.
JOSHUA SLATKO · Producer · This is Josh’s fourth year signing checks and begging
donations for the Annual Production. As an undergrad, he spent four years in the stage crew,
serving as stage manager and secretary-treasurer his senior year. He was producer of the fall
’99 show, The End of the World as We Wrote It, and was assistant producer for the 112th
Production, History in the Faking.
GARY LUNDY · Head Writer · Gary is a senior in the College majoring in Art History and
is in his fourth year as a performer with Mask and Wig. He transferred to Penn from Indiana
University in the fall of 2001 and immediately found his home at the Clubhouse. Gary would
like to thank his parents, his brothers, and his L.A. fan club for supporting his dream of
writing a show about a man with a dream of starting his own country.
XERXES VEVAI · Assistant Producer · Xerxes is a senior in Bioengineering from Newark,
Delaware. He is a member of the stage crew and has perfected the art of building a set of stairs
without touching any tools or wood. Xerxes has thoroughly enjoyed his four (five?) years
with Mask and Wig and will be sad to leave his post as undergraduate secretary-treasurer. He
plans to attend graduate school in the fall to pursue a PhD and then an MD with the goal of
staying in school for the rest of his life. Xerxes would like to thank his family and friends and
especially Tom Kurland for putting up with him.
MARQUES WARREN · Assistant Producer · Marques is currently serving as the
undergraduate business manager of the Mask and Wig Club. As a senior in the Wharton
School, with concentrations in Finance and Management, Marques has aspirations of working
in the real estate development industry following a successful summer working for
Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust. Marques would like to thank Josh Slatko and
the rest of the Committee on Production; the Undergraduate Company; the business staff,
past and present; and, of course, his family for their loving support.

The Undergraduate Chairman
A Scorpio, Mike Golisano was born on November 8th,
1982 with a drumstick in one hand and a Palm Pilot
stylus in the other. At birth, however, he was mysteriously already 21 years old, making him 43 as we go
to press. This seniority ultimately tipped the balance
in his favor during chairman elections last year. At
Penn, Mike chose to pursue a degree in sociology,
but later added a second degree at the Wharton school,
concentrating in email composition. He quickly mastered the most subtle and difficult of the email forms
including the “last minute schedule update,” the
“anonymous warning” and the “third and final reminder.” Outside of the classroom and Wig, Michael's
hobbies include knowing things, figuring things out,
and moderation. For those of you with plans to meet
Mike after the show, you can't predict where he will
be, but count on seeing him at Philly Diner after grueling games of Bandruit.
MICHAEL GOLISANO
Last Call for Seniors
You've never met anyone like Spencer Crawford. Hailing
from South Dakota with a perfectly affable demeanor, he
seems like the greatest guy in the world. Too bad he's an
asshole. In a recent study carried out by the UPENN psych
department, Spencer had all sorts of wires connected to his
brain which would read his true thoughts and juxtapose them
with what came out of his mouth. 89% of his "How are
you's?" (said with the trademark Crawford smile and lift)
were, in fact, accompanied by the following thought: "If I had
an ice pick..." The thought was never finished, leading to all
sorts of speculation regarding what Spencer might intend to
do with that ice pick. The remaining 11% were accompanied
by "Damn I'm funny!" Every now and then Spencer's true
colors show. Give him a drink or two and Mr. Hyde will come
out; he'll slip a comment or two about how much he actually
loathes you. But other than that, he's a fantastic guy!

OF CHESTER, NEW JERSEY
CONGRATULATES BRIAN AND
THE MASK & WIG CLUB ON
THEIR 117TH ANNUAL PRODUCTION
BIRTH OF A NOTION
THOMAS KURLAND
T. Philip Kurland, or Tommy as he’s known to his fiancée,
is the fearless leader of the Mask and Wig Stage Crew. He
became a clubbie in 2003 against the better judgment of most
members. As stage manager, Tom has led the crew to the
brink of death several times, constantly saving our asses
through his ability to nimbly meander around various legal
statutes. Through thick and thin, he always maintains a
level temper (ahem). His managerial abilities include watching
people work, smoking, drinking, driving a 24’ truck, and
smoking and drinking while driving a 24’ truck (he’s better
in reverse). Tom’s theatrical experience is matched only by
his ability to convince the Graduate Club to spend money on
things they don’t really need. Hopefully, he’ll graduate this
year and move on to a glamorous internship where he can
convince some other non-profit organization to make suspect
capital improvements – eventually his brand new Range Rover
will need a new set of rims.
Gabe is an incredibly intelligent and gifted young man. He is
also quite a lazy man. One might say that Gabe is as lazy as
the sun is hot (and yes, one might be scoffed at for such a
terrible analogy). Fortunately for Gabe, he is charismatic,
and has awe-inspiring hair. Thus, he has been able to scam
the University into keeping him enrolled semester after
semester. Benjamin Franklin once said, “Leibus, amibus,
sanctum, en glorium ex habitus!” (Franklin always spoke Latin
when he was drunk), which translates to “Take advantage of
professors, TA’s and the institution.” During his tenure at
Penn, Gabe did just that, creating his own major, appropriately
titled “Ivy League Degree, No Reading!” Gabe is scheduled to
begin his post-graduate study at LT’s in the fall. A toast and
three cheers to Gabe Laskin, scholar, friend, truant!
GABRIEL LASKIN
GARY LUNDY
Extra! Gary Lundy, twenty-nine year old social butterfly
and would-be Hollywood socialite, has one last joke up his
sleeve. This belle of Penn theatre circles turns out to be Juan
Pecos Lundy, former social director of Neverland Ranch.
Four years ago, this megalomaniac escaped a maximum
security federal prison in Gary, Indiana, taking the town’s
name and planting himself deep in the heart of West
Philadelphia. Once heard saying, “Sometimes I eat my own
feces because I know exactly what the ingredients are,” he
can also be seen eating oatmeal, Boca burgers, cottage cheese
or almonds. If you see him, please do not approach him.
He’ll either be on the phone with his mother or attack you
with his 10-minute-workout-hardened bod. Mr. Lundy is a
B-rated actor, but a Class A fraud. Please help us lock him up
in the same vault as all the movies he’s ever made. Only
then will we know he’ll never be released.

Xerxes J. Vevai, or Bob (as he’s know to restaurant hostesses
nation-wide) has been a member of the Mask and Wig Club
for just slightly longer than the average senior clubbie. Joining
the company as a member of the stage crew in the fall of
2000, Sexrex (his other, racier, moniker) was abandoned by
his own class after a wardrobe malfunction the following year.
After several months of contemplation, Xerxes found refuge
with the class of 2005 and quickly ascended to the esteemed
position of secretary-treasurer, in which he has done a great
service to generations of Wiggers by spinning off the hawking
of tacky logo-adorned swag to one of the juniors. When he’s
not brandishing a “speed wrench” or balancing the checkbook
(hey, you never got back to me about whether or not my bar
tab payment is deductible), Xerxes can be found passed out in
the Towne building, halfway through a Bio-Chem exam.
XERXES VEVAI
William J. Ward, the esteemed classical guitarist of the Mask
and Wig Club, performs weekly with the Philadelphia
Philharmonic and recently joined the Choral Arts Society of
Philadelphia as a lifetime member. Though a late bloomer to
the world of cross-dressing vaudevillians, his musical genius
has sparked great hits such as “Misty” and “Let’s Get it On.”
Will stepped into the role of Musical Director for the Mask
and Wig Band in the fall of 2004, flaunting his OBOS creed.
When he wasn’t writing music for the band or ripping a
fantastic solo on his axe, you could find him toasting a bagel
in his dual role as Social Chair. He’s also known to stop
random people on the street with his Persian wit; Will is the
only Wigger blessed with a gifted tongue in Farsi. If you too
speak it, he would love the shout out. Sweater Tie No Jeans!
WILLIAM WARD
MARQUES WARREN
Dear Audience,
I am pleased to inform you that I have been wildly integral to
the functioning of the Mask and Wig Club over the past four
years. In my first year I taught each undergraduate member a
brand new way to spell Marcus. In my sophomore year, I
printed programs for our show, and taught the incoming
freshmen a brand new way to spell Marcus. In my junior year,
I announced that I was African-American, printed programs,
and taught another incoming class a brand new way to spell
Marcus. So now, in my senior year, I have been trying to
figure out what my final contribution to the Club should be,
and it occurred to me that the best way to contribute is to
somehow aid our audience, to teach them as I have taught the
Club. So in conclusion, I would like to impart the following
wisdom:
Marques=Marcus, and I am black.
Thank you,
Marques
