SCV completion and testing
1. Check all nuts and screws are tight and all electrical connections are correct and secure.
2. Product operation: Place in sunilght or under a halogen lamp. The solar (photovoltaic) cell
converts photons (light energy) into electrical energy. This electrical energy is stored in the
super capacitor and is used to power the combination motor / gearbox.

Step 4
Fitting circuit & gearbox to chassis plates:
Step 1
Construction of hubless wheel:
1. Key point:
Ensure wheel shafts are positioned
as shown.
2. Place ball bearings into carrier.
The gearbox is attached to the plate shown below using three 3mm screws and nuts.
The terminal block assembly is then fixed to another plate as
shown; using one long 2.5mm screw and a
single nut beneath.

Step 5
Assembly of tail fin section:
Assemble the tail section as shown here; using
one length of studding.
There should be one nut on both sides of the two
‘spanner-like’ sections as well as another nut near
each end of the studding.
The spacing is dictated by the wing
piece which slots onto the ends
of the ‘spanner’ pieces.

Step 3
Assemby of one side of chassis:
Wiring of circuit:
Attach the complete wheel assembly to one of the main chassis sides using 1 nut either
side of the chassis plate on each of the ends of studding.
Solder two short lengths of wire to the terminals on the rear of the motor; 50mm should
be more than enough for each piece.
Insert the three horizontal acrylic pieces as shown.
Connect one of these wires to the two way terminal block and the other wire should be
soldered to one of the connections of the toggle switch.
Pass three pieces of studding through the three holes in the chassis plate and tighten a
nut either side of the plate on each of the three pieces of studding.
Take another 50mm length of wire and solder one end to the other
connection of the switch and connect the other end to the
two way terminal block parallel to the other wire
already connected.
Now connect the supercapacitor; noting
the polarity.
The negative from the capacitor should
connect to the negative of the motor.
The solar panel is best connected later in
the construction.
