Directions
Using US Size 9 needles, loosely cast on 52 sts. Knit a seed stitch border across these 52 sts as follows
Seed Stitch Border

Rows 3-6:
*(P1, K1) repeat from * across
*(K1, P1) repeat from * across
Repeat these two rows twice more
Garter Stitch Rib
Row 7:
Row 8:
*(P1, K1) repeat from * twice more; K across to last 6 sts; *(P1, K1) repeat from * twice more
*(K1, P1) repeat from * twice more; K across to last 6 sts; *(K1, P1) repeat from * twice more
Set Up to Knit Blocks
Section A
Set up blanket for checker blocks as follows for the next 10 rows to create blocks
Knit 6 sts in the seed stitch border pattern, PM, Knit one Seed Stitch Block across next 8 sts; PM; Knit one
Stockinette Stitch Block across next 8 sts; PM; Knit one Seed Stitch Block across next 8 sts; PM; Knit one
Stockinette Stitch Block across next 8 sts; PM; Knit one Seed Stitch Seed Block across next 8 sts; PM; Knit final 6
sts continuing in the seed st border pattern.
Repeat Rows 7 and 8 for a Garter Stitch Rib
Section B
Knit the second strip of blocks (opposite the last strip of blocks to create the checker board blocks) as follows for
the next 10 rows to create blocks
Knit 6 sts in the seed stitch border pattern to marker; Knit one Stockinette Stitch Block across next 8 sts; Knit one
Seed Stitch Block across next 8 sts; Knit one Stockinette Stitch Block across next 8 sts; Knit one Seed Stitch Seed
Block across next 8 sts; Knit one Stockinette Stitch Block across next 8 sts; Knit final 6 sts continuing in the seed
st border pattern.
Repeat Rows 7 and 8 for a Garter Stitch Rib
Repeat Sections A and B five times
Repeat Seed Stitch Border for 6 rows
Loosely bind off all sts. Weave in loose ends and block.
