TRANSFER HOURS
It is the policy of the school to grant credit for hours spent in Cosmetology training from another
school as recognized by the respective State Board of Cosmetology. The New Jersey State
Board of Cosmetology and Hairstyling requires that a school accepting a transfer student, test
and evaluate the student to determine how many hours of credit the school will accept. The
school must receive the official school transcripts from the school the student previously
attended representing the hours they completed in each subject area. The transfer student
must also forward their certified hours from the State Board of Cosmetology from the state in
which their previous school was located.
STATEMENT OF NON-DISCRIMINATION
The Artistic Academy of Hair Design is committed to equal educational opportunity and does not
practice discrimination in its admissions on basis of age, sex, race, color, ethnic origin, marital

disability.

applicants must meet all requirements specified for admission. Applicants who are persons with
disabilities, as defined in paragraph 104.3(j) of the regulation under Section 504 of the
Rehabilitation Act of 1973, may apply for admittance into the program. The School will work with
the applicant or student to determine whether reasonable accommodations can be effective

ENROLLMENT CONTRACT
The Artistic Academy of Hair Design clearly outlines the obligations for both the student and the
school in the enrollment contract. A copy of the signed contract is provided to the student upon
enrollment.
FINANCIAL AID
Financial aid provides assistance to students who qualify for educational related expenses.
Artistic Academy of Hair Design provides financial assistance approved by the U.S. Department
of Education for the following programs to qualified students in order to help meet the costs of
education:
Grants – (Aid that does not have to be repaid unless the student withdraws and a refund is due)
1. Pell Grants
2. SEOG Grants
Loans – (Aid that is borrowed, accrues interest and which must be repaid)
1. Direct Subsidized Loans
2. Direct Unsubsidized Loans
3. Direct Parent PLUS Loans
FEDERAL PELL GRANT
PELL Grants do not have to be repaid (unless student withdraws prior to completion of program
and a refund is due). Eligibility is based on the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) as
determined by the FAFSA. The EFC is listed on the Student Aid Report (SAR) provided by the
US Department of Education to the student and the Institutional Student Information Record
(ISIR) provided to the school. The maximum award for the 2016-2017 award year is $5,815.00.
10 | P a g e
FEDERAL SUPPLEMENTAL EDUCATIONAL GRANT (SEOG)
SEOG funds do not have to be repaid and are available only to PELL Grant eligible recipients.
The US Department of Education allocates a restricted amount of SEOG funds each academic
year to educational institutions. Artistic Academy of Hair Design awards SEOG based on
financial aid as demonstrated on the FAFSA. The awards range between $100.00 to $600.00 as
determined by the Financial Aid Office and by the funds allocated by the US Department of
Education.
FEDERAL DIRECT LOANS
Federal Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans are the US Department of Education’s
major form of financial assistance and are available through the Federal Direct Loan Program.
Educational institutions must have a valid ISIR and required financial aid documents on file for
the student. Students who qualify for aid must complete a FAFSA, be enrolled at least half-time
and maintain a satisfactory academic progress to receive Direct Loans. The interest rate for
loans disbursed from July 1, 2016 – July 1, 2017 is 3.76% fixed. The loan fee for loans
disbursed from October 1, 2015 - October 1, 2016 is 1.068%.
FEDERAL PLUS LOANS
Federal PLUS Loans are available to parents of dependent undergraduate students who have a
valid FAFSA on file, are enrolled at least half time, and maintain satisfactory academic progress.
Parents must be a US Citizen or eligible non-citizen and must not have adverse credit history.
The interest rate for loans disbursed from July 1, 2016-July 1, 2017 is 6.31% fixed and
borrowers are responsible for all interest on loans. There is a 4.272% origination fee loans
disbursed from October 1, 2015 - October 1, 2016 which includes a 1.5% up front rebate on
these loans. Repayment begins 60 days after the second disbursement.
VETERANS’ EDUCATION BENEFITS
Artistic Academy of Hair Design is approved for veteran’s educational benefits. Veterans, active
duty service persons, reservists and eligible spouses and dependents may be eligible to qualify
for various VA educational assistance programs. Potential students and their parents/family
members must first check with the US Department of Veterans Affairs to see if they qualify for
benefits. Students expecting VA benefits are still expected to complete a FAFSA.
INSTITUTIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS
In addition to the financial assistance approved by the U.S. Department of Education, Artistic
Academy of Hair Design is pleased to offer Institutional Scholarships to future leaders who
possess outstanding skills and strong ethical values. These recipients are individuals with not
only strong leadership potential for the beauty industry, but have provided references of good
character from salon owners, managers, or high school officials.
1. ACE Grants
2. Artistic Academy Scholarships
Artistic Academy of Hair Design believes every student should be able to obtain an education
regardless of financial status. The Financial Aid Office will assist students in completing the
necessary forms and counsel students on money management and loan responsibility. To
determine a student’s financial need, the school uses the Federal Need Analysis set forth by the
U.S. Department of Education. For funds to be available for students, candidates are
encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at least 30 days
prior to their start date.
11 | P a g e
POLICY FOR VERIFICATION OF TITLE IV FUNDING
The US Department of Education randomly selects students to provide additional information.
The Artistic Academy of Hair Design must follow the policies and procedures set forth in regards
to verifications. Students called for verification will be notified of the required additional
documentation in addition to being provided with a verification worksheet. All documentation
must be returned to the school within 30 days. Failure to submit the required documents will
cause a delay in the verification process and students will be placed on a monthly tuition
payment until the verification is completed.
ELIGIBILITY OF FINANCIAL AID AFTER A DRUG CONVICTION
A student’s eligibility may be suspended if the offense occurred while student was receiving
federal student aid. When the student completes the FAFSA, he/she will be asked whether
student had a drug conviction for an offense that occurred while receiving federal student aid. If
the answer is yes, the student will be provided a worksheet to help determine whether the
conviction(s) affect student eligibility for federal student aid.
If student eligibility for federal student aid has been suspended due to a drug conviction, the
student can regain eligibility early by successfully completing an approved drug rehabilitation
program or by passing two unannounced drug tests administered by an approved drug
rehabilitation program. If student regains eligibility during the award year, notify the financial aid
office immediately.
Students convicted of a drug-related offense after the FAFSA has been submitted, might lose
eligibility for federal student aid, and might be liable for returning any financial aid received
during a period of ineligibility.
Other convictions that affect aid…
If student has been convicted of a forcible or nonforcible sexual offense, and student is subject
to an involuntary civil commitment upon completion of a period of incarceration for that offense,
the student is ineligible to receive a Federal Pell Grant.
If a student has questions regarding any past convictions and their eligibility for aid, student
should contact the Financial Aid Office.

COURSE OVERVIEW AND OUTLINES (All courses are taught in English)
COSMETOLOGY
Cosmetology Course Outline
Course Hours: 1200 clock hours
The complete Cosmetology and Hairstyling Course consists of 1200 clock hours as prescribed
by the New Jersey State Board of Cosmetology & Hairstyling. The educational objective of the
complete cosmetology curriculum is to provide the student with sufficient training to pass the
State Board Exam, become properly licensed and perform duties required under such license to
secure employment at an entry level. A cosmetologist/hairstylist license allows an individual to
practice all phases of cosmetology.
During the first 600 hours students are defined as underclassmen (Freshman and Juniors).
During this interval your work will consist of lectures, demonstrations, practicing on mannequins
and classmates, and written/practical examinations. After completion of 600 hours, passing of
both the practical and written midterm, recommendation of your instructor and a doctor's
certificate, you will advance to the Senior floor. The remaining 600 hours will consist of class
projects, additional lectures, salon management and honing your skills in the Senior Clinic. The
Senior Clinic patrons pay a reduced fee for services performed by students. As a senior student
you will hone your skills by performing services on clients, building your self-esteem and
knowledge.

Aesthetics Course Outline
Course Hours: 600 clock hours
The Aesthetics Course consists of 600 hours as prescribed by the New Jersey State Board of
Cosmetology and Hairstyling. The educational objectives of the Aesthetics curriculum is to
provide the student with sufficient training to pass the State Board Exam, become properly
licensed and perform all duties required under such license to secure employment at an entry
level. An aesthetics license allows an individual to practice all phases of aesthetics including
facials, body procedures and make-up artistry.
During the first 300 hours students are defined as underclassman (Freshman). During this
interval your work will consist of lectures, demonstrations, practicing on mannequins and
classmates, and written and practical examinations. After completions of 300 hours, passing of
both the practical and written midterm, recommendation of your instructor and a doctor’s
certificate, you will advance to the Senior floor. The remaining 300 hours will consist of class
projects, additional lectures, salon management and honing your skills in the Senior Clinic. The
Senior Clinic patrons pay a reduced fee for services performed by students. As a senior student
you will hone your skills by performing services on clients, building your self-esteem and
knowledge.

SCHOOL POLICIES
ATTENDANCE
In accordance with the Enrollment Agreement, regular attendance is mandatory. Students are
informed of their class schedule prior to enrollment and it is their responsibility to ensure they
are attending school on a regular basis. Artistic Academy of Hair Design requires all students to
maintain a minimum of an 80% attendance rate in order for the student to maintain satisfactory
progress.
ABSENCE
Students must notify the school on a daily basis of any absence one hour prior to the start of
their scheduled class. Any student absent for 14 consecutive calendar days will be terminated,
regardless of communication with the school.
In accordance with New Jersey State law, Artistic Academy of Hair Design does not grant hours
for school not attended. Students are given 10% of their total contracted hours to utilize for
illness or personal reasons. The student must complete their total hours of instruction in order to
graduate, however, they are not penalized should they accrue less than 10% of absenteeism.
Any additional absent hours accrued over the 10% allotment will be subject to a charge of
$13.00 per hour overtime fee. The fee is assessed and charged at the time of the student’s
contracted date of graduation. Should the student enter overtime, anytime thereafter, failure to
complete the minimum weekly contracted hours will result in additional over time charges (30 for
full-time student; 16 for part-time students).
TARDINESS
The student is permitted 3 lates each month without penalty. All lates are considered absent
hours. Upon 4th late, the student will not be allowed to be in attendance for the day.
MAKE-UP HOURS
All absent hours must be made up during the school’s designated make-up schedule. Make-up
work is associated directly with any missed theory or practical work and students are expected
to work diligently during make-up hours. Make-up hours are available Monday-Thursday from
8:00AM-9:00AM and Monday-Thursday from 3:30PM-5:30PM. Make-up hours may be
cancelled for in-service purposes; prior notice will be given to students.
UNIFORM POLICY
Students are required to purchase their own uniform consisting of: pants, lab coats, and shoes,
in accordance with the school’s Policies and Procedures, prior to their scheduled start date.
Underclassmen are required to purchase and wear white lab coats while Senior students must
purchase and wear navy blue lab coats. The black dress pants and the black leather shoes
remain unchanged for the duration of the students training. Please see a copy of the school’s
Policies and Procedures for further requirements on uniforms. Identification badges and uniform
tops are included in the student kit and must be worn at all times.

SATISFACTORY ACADEMIC PROGRESS STATEMENT
Satisfactory progress in attendance and academic work (written and practical examinations) is
a requirement for all students enrolled in The Artistic Academy of Hair Design. Students
receiving funds under any Title IV Financial Aid program must maintain satisfactory progress in
order to continue eligibility of such funds. Students must maintain an overall academic average
of 75% or higher, on all written and practical exams and must maintain an 80% or higher,
attendance rate of their scheduled hours. Evaluations for attendance and academics will occur
when cosmetology students reach 450 and 900 actual hours and aesthetics students reach 300
actual hours. For more information on the Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy, see the
school’s Policies & Procedures Manual.
STANDARD OF PROGRESS
Throughout the course, students will take examinations in every phase of study. Students must
maintain a 75% GPA in order to be considered making satisfactory progress. The following
factors will be measured to determine academic progress: written and practical examinations.
The following grade scale is used to measure student’s performance:
100-95 = (A) Excellent
94-85 (B) Good
84-75 (C) Satisfactory
74 – Below (F) Failing
Students are expected to receive a grade of 75% or better on all tests, mirroring the minimum
passing standard set forth on the State Board Exam. Students may re-take a failed exam one
time to better their score. The two grades will be averaged; the resulting score will be the
standing score for the exam.
Daily records are kept by the school for each student’s progress and attendance. Students will
be given a written record of their progress periodically. If a student’s progress does not agree
with the standards of the school, the student will be notified and placed on a warning. At the
next period of evaluation should the student not meet the standards set forth by the school, their
financial assistance will be terminated. In addition, the student may be suspended or expelled
from the school. For more information on the Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy, see the
school’s Policies & Procedures Manual.
DETERMINATION OF PROGRESS STATUS
Students meeting the minimum requirements set forth for both attendance and academics, will
be considered to be making satisfactory progress until the next evaluation.
PROBATION AND REESTABLISHMENT OF SATISFACTORY ACADEMIC PROGRESS
Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy requires a minimum 75% GPA and 80% attendance at
all times during the program. If the student falls below a 75% average for theory or competency
or has less than 80% of the scheduled attendance at the time of the evaluation, the student will
be placed on “warning”. The student will remain on a “warning” until the next evaluation period.
Should the student reach 75% GPA and/or 80% of the scheduled attendance at the next
evaluation the student will be maintaining Satisfactory Academic Progress at the second
evaluation. Students who do not achieve the minimum standards are no longer eligible for Title
IV unless the student is on warning or has prevailed upon appeal of the determination that has
25 | P a g e
resulted in the status of probation. If the student does not reach 75% GPA and/or 80% of the
scheduled attendance by the next (second) evaluation, all financial aid expected to be paid at
that evaluation will be terminated. A student is considered in satisfactory progress while on
warning.
In order to comply with the requirements of the Department of Education, the terminology
financial aid warning/probation will be used for all students, regardless if they are Title IV or nonTitle IV students.
APPEALS PROCEDURE
Students may appeal a termination of financial aid based on failure to maintain Satisfactory
Academic Progress by submitting a written appeal to the Director at the beginning of the
evaluation period for which financial aid was terminated. The decision of the Director shall be
final and the results of the appeal are documented in the student’s file. Special consideration will
only be made for mitigating circumstances (e.g. illness, death of a family member, etc) and only
will be considered with proper third party documentation. The student must include in the appeal
why the student failed to maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress and what has changed in the
student’s situation that will allow the student to demonstrate satisfactory progress at the next
evaluation. After a successful appeal, the student will be placed on academic probation for the
following payment period and the institution will develop an academic plan for the student. The
student must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress at the next evaluation or all financial aid
will be terminated.
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A complete written copy of the school’s Policies and Procedures is given to each student at the
time of enrollment. The student must read and acknowledge in writing, that they understand and
agree to the terms of the policies and procedures. These policies include but are not limited to
tardiness, absences, conduct, and make-up work as well as terms for suspension and /or
termination.
STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT – GROUNDS FOR DISMISSAL
In order to manage the school in an effective, fair, professional and safe manor, professional
conduct is mandatory in every circumstance. All students sign the school’s Policies and
Procedures prior to enrollment and receive a copy upon enrollment for their records. Violation
of any rules will result in disciplinary action, suspension, or termination. When a student has
previously violated the same or similar rules, that student will be subject to immediate
termination. Students that lack the proper aptitude, attitude, and professional conduct for the
course of beauty culture will be so advised and their training discontinued.
STUDENT RECORDS
Student records and transcripts are provided upon written request from students 18 years of
age or older. For students under the age of 18 yrs, written consent must also be received by the
parent or legal guardian. For dependent minors, rights will only be given to students, parents or
guardians. Student records and transcripts are on file at the school’s Administrative Office. A
permanent student record minimally includes a student transcript which outlines the student
hours, grades, and program of study. To obtain a copy of their transcript, students must submit
$5.00 with a written request. The student’s account must be paid in full prior to the release of
the official transcripts.
26 | P a g e
CONFIDENTIALITY OF STUDENT RECORDS: FERPA
Artistic Academy of Hair Design’s policy is to maintain confidentiality of all information in student
files in accordance with The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Artistic
Academy of Hair Design will not release any information without prior consent from the student
or parent/legal guardian(s). In accordance with the US Department of Education requirements,
an Authorization for Release of Information form must be completed and signed by the student
for every request of student information by a third party.
A student has the right to inspect and review the student's education records maintained by the
school. The student must provide a written request to the administration in accordance with the
manner set forth in the Admissions Packet. Authorized personnel must be present during the
review of said file. All student files are maintained for five (5) years.
FERPA permits exclusions allowing for disclosure of records to certain parties under specific
conditions. FERPA permits the release of personally identifiable information in instances of
health or safety emergencies that present imminent danger. For more information on FERPA,
who holds rights, concepts and additional exclusions, please refer to Artistic Academy of Hair
Design’s Admissions Packet.
LEAVE OF ABSENCE
A student who must be absent for a period of 7 calendar days (one week) up to 30 calendar
days may request a leave of absence. A LOA is an approved temporary interruption of
training and the student will not be assessed any additional institutional charges as a result of
the LOA. The National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts and Sciences’ (NAACAS) policy
states that leaves of absences may not exceed a total of 180 days in any 12-month period;
however, it is The Artistic Academy of Hair Design’s policy that only one leave of
absence, not exceeding a total of 30 calendar days, will be granted during the student’s
contracted enrollment. If a LOA is approved, the student’s contract period will be extended
by the same number of days taken in the LOA. Changes to the contract period will be
adjusted accordingly on the student’s enrollment agreement and will require initials by student
and administrator.
All LOA requests must be submitted to the administration at least one week prior to the
beginning of LOA date for approval. Only in unforeseen circumstances will an LOA request be
reviewed with less than a one week notice (e.g. injury in an accident, or sudden illness).
To request a LOA the request must be in written form and include the following:
 Reason for the LOA
 Beginning and Ending Dates
 Student’s Signature and Date
The Director of The Artistic Academy of Hair Design will review the academic and attendance
performance of all students who request a LOA. Should the LOA be approved, all items stored
in the student’s locker must be removed prior to the beginning date of the student’s LOA. A
student granted an LOA is not considered to have withdrawn from their course of study; no
refund calculation will be provided. Students granted a LOA are expected to return on their
approved return date, failure to return on expected return date shall result in immediate
termination. In the event that student fails to return on expected date or student takes an
unapproved LOA, the student’s last day of attendance will be used as the withdrawal date in the
27 | P a g e
refund calculation. Any student on an approved Leave of Absence who notifies the school that
they will not be returning the withdrawal date will be the date the student notifies the institution.
WITHDRAWAL POLICY
Students wishing to withdraw from program should notify their intent in writing to the Director of
the school. If a student withdraws or is terminated prior to completing the course, the student
will be charged an additional fee of $150.00 for administrative costs in addition to the
cancellation fees in the enrollment agreement and any other charges. Students who withdraw
from the program are required to empty their lockers of all personal items within 30 days of
separation/termination. Any items left behind will become the property of The Artistic Academy
of Hair Design after 30 days.
RE-ENROLLMENT POLICY
Prior to consideration for re-enrollment the student’s account from any previous enrollment
agreement must be satisfied unless they are eligible to receive Title IV funds which will not be
disbursed until a student is accepted for re-enrollment. Title IV funds may only be disbursed if
the student is maintaining Satisfactory Academic Progress, therefore, the student must have
maintained an 80% attendance rate and GPA of 75% upon their last date of attendance.
Once the account has been satisfied, the student must inform the school in writing of their
wishes to return and complete their program of study. The written letter must indicate their intent
to complete the program if given the opportunity to re-enroll. The written letter must also
address what obstacles led the student to cancel his/her previous enrollment agreement and it
must clearly address how those obstacles will not resurface or impede completion should the
student be given the opportunity to re-enroll.
Students who are accepted for re-enrollment and begin accruing hours within 180 days from
their last date of attendance will not be charged a $100.00 re-registration fee and the “droptermination fee” of $150.00 added to the student account upon termination will be reversed. In
addition, the tuition will be based on any outstanding balance from the previous contract and
any adjusted tuition amount shown on the student’s ledger as “drop out adjustment charges.”
This is relevant for any student who completes less than 50% of the course.
Any student accepted for re-enrollment who begins classes after 180 days from their last date of
attendance will be assessment tested to determine the amount of hours retained. Prior to start
date, any balance from the previous enrollment agreement must be satisfied in addition to a
$100.00 re-registration fee. Tuition owed under the secondary enrollment agreement will be
determined by the amount of hours the student will need to complete multiplied by the current
hourly rate of the program.
PARKING REGULATIONS
On-site parking is available in designated areas only. Parking rules will be reviewed during
orientation. Student’s park at their risk and The Artistic Academy of Hair Design will not be
responsible for parking violations and/or towing fees if student does not follow protocol.
COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT POLICY
Artistic Academy of Hair Design will not tolerate any infringement of copyright laws or illegal
downloading, including peer-to-peer file sharing. Student will be subject to Artistic Academy of
Hair Design’s disciplinary measures and may be subject to civil and criminal liabilities. For more
information on copyright infringement policies visit: www://copyright.gov/title17/92appf.pdf.
28 | P a g e
FEDERAL RETURN OF TITLE IV FUNDS POLICY
The Artistic Academy of Hair Design participates in federal financial aid. Title IV funds include:
PELL Grant, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG), Federal Direct
Loans, and Federal PLUS Loans. Title IV funds are awarded to a student under the assumption
that the student will attend school for the entire period for which the assistance is awarded.
When a student withdraws, the student may no longer be eligible for the full amount of Title IV
funds that the student was originally scheduled to receive.
If a recipient of Title IV grant or loan funds withdraws from a school after beginning attendance,
the amount of Title IV grant or loan assistance earned by the student will be determined and
applicable funds returned. Returned funds will be reduced from the payments received on
behalf of the student before applying the institutional refund policy to determine whether the
student is owed a refund or if a balance is owed to the school.
The percentage of Title IV aid earned for students who withdraw on or prior to completing 60%
of the payment period is equal to the percentage of the payment period they completed (hours
scheduled divided by the total hours in payment period). For example if a student completed
40% of the payment period, the student has 40% earned and 60% unearned aid.
The amount to be returned is calculated by subtracting the amount of Title IV aid earned from
the amount that was or could have been disbursed as of the date of withdrawal. The percentage
of the payment period scheduled to complete is calculated by dividing the total number of clock
hours scheduled by the payment period as of the last date of attendance.
If the amount disbursed to the student is greater than the amount the student earned, the
unearned funds must be returned. If the amount disbursed to the student is less than the
amount the student earned, and for which the student is otherwise eligible, he or she is eligible
to receive a post withdrawal disbursement of the earned aid that was not received. If the student
is eligible for a post withdrawal disbursement, student is required to notify the school in writing
within 14 days that he/she is accepting or declining the disbursement.
Students who withdraw after completing 60% of the scheduled hours for the payment period,
have earned all of the assistance scheduled to be received.
If the student withdraws, school charges that were previously paid by federal student aid funds
might become a debit owed to the school and which the student is responsible for paying.

INSITUTIONAL REFUND POLICY
Artistic Academy of Hair Design’s refund policy applies to all terminations for any reason, by
either party, including student decision, dismissal due to policy violations, course or program
cancellation, or school closure. All refund calculations are preformed and refunds are made
timely.

refund of all monies paid.
If a student (or in the case of a student under legal age, his/her parent/guardian) cancels his/her
enrollment in writing within 3 business days of signing the enrollment agreement/contract, all
monies collected by the school shall be refunded. The cancellation date will be determined by
the postmark on written notification, or the date said information is delivered to the school
administrator in person. This policy applies regardless of whether or not the student has actually
started training.
If a student cancels his/her (cosmetology, aesthetics, student teaching) enrollment after three
business days of signing but prior to entering classes, he/she shall be entitled to a refund of all
monies paid to the school less the registration fee of $100.00 which is non-refundable.

Pursuant to the Federal Regulations of the Higher Education Act, Return of Title IV Funds, the
school must calculate the amount of Title IV funds the student has earned at the time of
withdrawal or termination from the school. This amount is based upon the length of time the
student is scheduled to complete in the payment period. After 60% of the payment period has
been completed, 100% of the Title IV funds may be retained. The school must return any
portion of unearned Title IV funds for which the school is responsible for.
Enrollment time is defined as the time elapsed between the actual starting date to which the
student formally terminates enrollment. Termination shall occur upon the student’s last day of
physical attendance in school.
If a student withdraws or terminates prior to completing the course, the student will be charged
an additional fee of $150.00 for administrative costs.
Any refund due to the student will be paid within 30 days of written cancellation or termination.
If a student withdraws or discontinues before completion of the course, the charge of the
student kit, equipment, tools, text books, instructional materials, taxes, overtime fees, (if student
surpasses their graduation date and has incurred overtime fees), will remain in addition to tuition
retained by the school.
The official transcript or certificate of completion is to be held until all fees and charges have
been met.
If a course is cancelled, subsequent to a student’s enrollment, the school shall, at its option:
1. Provide a full refund of all monies paid, or
2. Provide completion of the course
If the school is permanently closed or no longer offering instruction after students have enrolled,
and instruction has begun, the student shall be entitled to a pro-rata refund of tuition.
Any student absent for fourteen consecutive calendar days will be terminated. The date of
termination will be the students fourteenth day of absenteeism. Students are required to notify
the school on each day of absenteeism via telephone call at (973) 656-1401.
Any student who does not return from their Leave of Absence will be terminated using the
student’s last day of attendance as the termination date. Any student on an approved Leave of
Absence who notifies the school that they will not be returning the withdrawal date will be the
date the student notifies the institution.

REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADUATION
In order for a student to graduate from chosen course, he or she must complete the minimum
hours of training required by the NJ State Board of Cosmetology, all written and practical
exams, and all clinical minimum requirements and satisfy all tuition obligations. Upon meeting
the above requirement and all fees and charges have been satisfied, the student will receive a
diploma from The Artistic Academy of Hair Design, reflecting his or her achievement.
LICENSE
Licensing is governed by the rules and regulations of the New Jersey State Board of
Cosmetology and Hairstyling, Division of Consumer Affairs. The state may refuse to grant a
license on various grounds including, but not limited to, prior convictions, fraud, false statements
on applications and default of student loans. Federal law limits the issuance or renewal of
professional or occupational licenses or certificates to U.S. citizens or qualified aliens. Students
who do not have documented authority to work in the United States will not be eligible to apply
for licensure. The Artistic Academy of Hair Design is not responsible for students denied
licensure.
Per the NJ State Board regulations, individuals may not be dually licensed in the State of
New Jersey.
Students holding a Cosmetology License enrolled in the Aesthetics program understand that
they will not sit for the Aesthetics License as the Cosmetology License encompasses:
hairstyling, barbering, manicuring, pedicuring and aesthetics. Enrollment in the aesthetics
program will be advanced education for the student.
Students holding an Aesthetics License enrolled in the Cosmetology program understand that
they must forfeit their Aesthetics License in order to sit for the Cosmetology License as the
Cosmetology License supersedes and encompasses: hairstyling, barbering, manicuring,
pedicuring and aesthetics.
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS
To apply for State Licensing, a student must be at least 17 years of age, have a high school
diploma or its equivalent, and have complete the required hours of the course from which he or
she enrolled.
EMPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE
Although a position is not guaranteed, The Artistic Academy of Hair Design is committed to
assisting qualified students and interested graduates in obtaining a permanent position by
providing them with leads to known available employment positions. There is no charge to the
student or graduate for this service. Posting of all available job opportunities is located in the
reception area of the school and the school’s Facebook page. All students will be counseled on

GAINFUL EMPLOYMENT
Artistic Academy of Hair Design is accredited by NACCAS and uses its calculation for
institutional outcomes on student retention, completion and placement rate based on calendar
year cohort.
The information contained in the disclosures templates will vary due to The U.S. Department of
Education using a different formula, time frame and being based on individual program
outcomes. On-time graduation rates may be substantially lower than actual completion rates.
On-time completion is defined by the U.S. Department of Education as anyone who graduates
35 | P a g e
within the normal completion time based on their initial enrollment schedule. When a student
completes their graduation requirements, including all theory and practical assignments, and the
required number of clock hours contracted for within their original contracted graduation date,
that student is considered to have graduated “on-time.” If a student delays their graduation for
any reason, such as family responsibilities, day care issues, financial reasons, or switches their
school schedule (i.e. full time to part-time and vice versa) which causes them to graduate after
their original contract end date they are not considered an on-time graduate.
