theater company from Bridgeport,
CT. Connecticut Free Shakespeare is
a professional educational theater
project in its tenth season.
Connecticut Free Shakespeare’s presentation
of A Midsummer Night’s Dream will capture the
whimsy and charm of the Bard’s most popular
romantic comedy as two pairs of star-crossed
lovers, the king and soon-to-be queen of Theseus,
feuding sprites, a traveling theater troupe, a
magical concoction and a moonlit forest all come
together for an entertaining mix of merriment and
magic. Despite the mayhem, illusions, love-elixir,
fantastical forms and follies of the heart all is
sorted out in the end and everyone finds their
perfect mate.
Many actors and stage managers of Connecticut
Free Shakespeare are members of Actors’ Equity
Association, the union of professional actors and
stage managers in the United States.

ave you ever gone on a treasure hunt? Do you like solving puzzles and following clues? Join in on
this exciting summer activity. Hidden boxes will be placed all over Guilford and you can all be
treasure hunters. Find the boxes using high-tech geocaching or opt for low-tech letterboxing or do both.

clues you will have a wonderful experience and learn about Guilford’s historic places, organizations –

C
elebrating its 30th anniversary on the Shoreline,
the mission of the Neighborhood Music School
is to provide the highest quality instruction in music
and dance and to make it accessible to people of all
ethnic and economic circumstances. The school is one
of the 10 largest community arts schools in the nation,
serving more than 3,000 students each year from the age of 6 months
to 80+ years, from 79 cities and towns in Connecticut. Many if not
most Shoreline residents are all too familiar with the studios, classes,
programs, special events, and fabulous
faculty of the Neighborhood Music School
– having enrolled their own children, and
in some cases grandchildren, time and
time again! It’s their endorsement that
helped the Shoreline Arts Alliance
identify the Neighborhood Music School
as a 2009 Bravo! Award recipient.

elen & Jack Davis truly reflect the meaning
of dedicated and passionate arts lovers.
They arrived in Madison, Connecticut in 1956
when there were only about 4,000 people living Step

in the town and subsequently watched the
award for his
parents
town grow into a thriving community. While
raising their family, Helen and Jack were both active participants in
local organizations serving on committees and boards throughout the
region. Their love for fine art and collecting began as part of their
world travels and has resulted in a house full of fine and primitive art
collected from all corners of the earth. Helen and Jack decided to share
their love of art with others and opened the Madison Gallery, Madison’s
first contemporary art gallery located in what is now the Prudential
Realty office on Boston Post Road just east of the Library. Years before
they brought the concept of the Sculpture Mile to Madison, Helen and
Jack had sculptural pieces installed around Madison. Helen and Jack’s
long-standing commitment, dedication and efforts to promote the
importance and relevance of the arts along the Connecticut Shoreline
clearly underscore the distinguished Bravo! Award honor.
