RANGE OF

SATV CABLES AND
ACCESSORIES
The flexibility of the new SATV cables makes it possible to do the finest work in laying cables in conduiting, where these often
follow tortuous routes or worse still, may be deformed by crushing.
Depending on the efficiency of the shielding, the EN 50117 standard defines classes A++, A+, A, B and C. The letters, as listed,
indicate the shielding efficiency performance with a decreasing value. The cables offered here are suitable for installation
situations in which there is a high degree of electromagnetic disturbance.
The line of dedicated accessories is very new: not just connectors, plugs and sockets, also with keystone connection, but
also new accessories such as reels and lubricants.
F compression versions have been added to the range of connectors, ideal for external laying. New items have been added to
the TV plugs and sockets, with greater screening to improve performance in transmission settings. Also, you will find a complete
set of tools that stand out for their high strength and ease of use, such as pliers, cable strippers, and spanners for F connectors.
n Technical information
The new range of SATV cables and accessories is the answer to all usage requirements and can be used indoors,
outdoors and laid underground.
TECHNICAL INFORMATION

Various types of material can be used to make these elements: details are provided below on the construction choices
Fanton applies when making these cables.
The inner conductor used in coaxial cables is made of bare annealed copper that, unlike other coated materials like steel and
aluminium, has low electrical resistance, which is a necessary quality when the cables are used to feed electronic equipment
such as antenna amplifiers for example. The bare annealed copper - not tin coated - makes it possible to facilitate a “skin”
effect, which improves the cable’s attenuation.
The dielectric layer is expanded by injecting nitrogen gas. This technology produces micro cells that are uniformly distributed
throughout the dielectric layer and are closed, thereby increasing the transmission and mechanical characteristics.
Along with gas injection expansion, the dielectric layer is made using three-layer technology, known as Skin-Foam-Skin
that consists of depositing a layer of compact polyethylene (Skin) around the conductor, a layer of expanded polyethylene
(Foam), and a layer of compact polyethylene on the outer surface of the dielectric layer in one passage.
The first skin acts as a barrier protecting the conductor against damp that can penetrate from the end of the cable, oxidising
it and increasing adhesion with the foam section, keeping it coaxial with the dielectric layer at bends.
The second skin protects the dielectric layer against humidity in the environment. All of these solutions improve and preserve
the cable’s transmission characteristics over time.
The foil laid longitudinally on top of the dielectric layer - of a two layer aluminium/polyester bonded type or triple aluminium/polyester/aluminium layer - increases the shielding function and therefore the shielding efficiency, especially at high
frequencies. In order to further increase protection against outside electromagnetic interference, some cable codes (A2126_
and A2156_) are also offered with an additional foil positioned between the braid screening and the outer sheath.
For the entire series of SATV cables, the braid is made up of tin coated copper to avoid possible oxidation of the metal
(resulting in a loss of the screening effect) working along with the foil in the cable.
Depending on the intended type of use of the cable, the sheath is made of PVC in a mixture of zero halogens or polyethylene.
These materials ensure the functionality and efficiency of the cable in all usage situations. It is obligatory to use zero halogen
mixtures for public spaces, where the emission of toxic and corrosive gases must be contained, even though Fanton believes
it to be essential to safeguard health in private settings as well by using these materials.
All the materials that make up the cables do not contain hazardous substances and therefore conform to the RoHS Directive.
Based on climatic cycles forecast by the EN 50117 standard and the materials used in making the cables, Fanton guarantees
these cables for 15 years.
To satisfy the varying installation requirements for systems, the SATV cables have coloured bands on the outer sheath:
four different colours (Red, Green, Yellow and Black) that make it possible to immediately recognise the cables in the
various connections.
The new cable reels are prepared to be ready for use and made so that each one shows how many metres remain.
The new MAVVOLGO cable reel that can be used for 100, 150 and 200 metre coils, protects the cable against impact and dirt
in site situations that are not always optimum, thanks to the metal structure, and comes with a neck strap for easy carrying.
When finishing work, the end of the cable can be attached to the reel by a practical hook, making it easy to find again.
The reel helps the installer to avoid wasting time to sort out tangled cables or even scrapping lengths of cable compromised
by bends.

Preparing the cable for screw and cramped F connectors
Careful preparation of the coaxial cable is essential before using any type of connector. Stripping (removing the sheath) must
preferably be done using sharp cutters.
Be careful not to cut the shield below and avoid crushing the dielectric layer in order to guarantee good contact between the
braid and the metal body of the conductor when the braid is folded back as well. For cables with a metal foil, be careful to
leave it wound on the dielectric layer as far as the cut.
To insert the cable, use the cable strippers included in this catalogue, and follow the instructions:
1) Lay the internal conductor bare and strip a section of sheath about 6 mm long as shown in the figure.
2) Fold the braid back over the sheath being careful not to damage it and insert the cable in the connector, making sure that
the foil penetrates the hole.
3) Secure the cable by crimping.

n General characteristics
• “Mavvolgo” is a handy dispenser for coaxial cables, designed to make work easy for installers.
32180
32180
Cable stripper for ø 5,00 mm and ø 6,60 mm
cables and hexagonal spanner for F connectors
Box --
• Prevents slots being formed in the cables and the 4 fins on the drum can be used to rewind left-over cable very easily.
• The markings indicating the metres of cable remaining are very practical when the reel is used by an installer.
• Its strong treated metal structure that is resistant to corrosion, makes it suitable for use as a seat or a step, which is also
facilitated by the non-slip support feet.
• It is fitted with a clutch to avoid unwinding and a cable guide that acts as a cable clamp.
Its light weight and the comfortable, adjustable neck strap make it easy to transport.
32181
32181

• Reels can also be put next to one another, connecting them using special hooks, to facilitate feeding a number of
cables into a conduit. The 100 m and 200 m reels can be fitted and removed in just a few steps, following the simple
instructions indicated on the product.

Traditional video entry system cables are composite cables consisting of power wires, control wires and a video signal wire, namely a
coax cable. However, with digital technologies now being applied to video entry systems, a new species of “digital” cable has been
developed. These cables are offered alongside the traditional cables in which video and control signals are transmitted using a twisted
pair. AMBRA90 presents a selection of some of the most commonly used kinds of video-control cables favoured by the leading video
entry system manufacturers. Sheaths are made from the same PVC-FR blend (flame retardant Italian standard CEI 20-22 II).

t GENERAL FEATURES
t GENERAL FEATURES
MC4 compatible plug-in connectors are designed for long-term outdoor use.
They are made using materials that can withstand high mechanical stress such as impacts and crushing and are resistant to
heat, low temperatures and UV rays. All the connectors shown here are halogen free.
In addition to opening the connectors by hand, a practical spanner is available that also has other functions. In fact, using
this spanner it is possible to easily tighten the nuts on both the panel connector and the loose connector, and the central
opening improves the grip, fixing the connector itself during wiring operations.
The connectors are made according to the DIN V VDE 0126-5 standard.

t GENERAL FEATURES
t GENERAL FEATURES
These cables are used for the transmission of bus signals from control devices to sensors and actuators inside residential
buildings. They ensure perfect communication in compliance with the standard EIB KNX (European Installation Bus).
They can be placed on top of or underneath plaster inside ducts or channels, as well as externally to provide protection
against direct exposure to sunlight. Cabling can be run with power cables without limitations. BUS EIB can be used to control
lighting, rolling shutters, heating, ventilation, etc.
These shielded copper cables are suitable for the transmission of data in FIP (Flux Information Processes), PROFIBUS-DP
(Dezentrale Peripherie) and PROFIBUS-FMS (Fieldbus Message Specification) type systems with electrical specifications
in compliance with standard EIA-RS-485. The transmission speed varies from 9.6 kbps to 12 Mbps based on the length
of the section in question:
