Continuing Education at Capilano University
Welcome to Summer at Cap!
Summer Camps
What happens when you combine a university with a camp? Serious fun,
that’s what. And while we put a heavy emphasis on fun, we put an even
heavier one on meaningful learning. That’s why we design our camps to
stimulate and nurture curious minds. You’ll find an extraordinary mix of
camps here at Capilano University, from chess, astronomy and cooking to
forensics, magic and musical theatre. And they’re not just for kids. There
are camps for teens, too. So take a look through our calendar and see
what happens when big ideas meet big fun.
Adult courses
Some of our adult continuing education courses run during the spring
and summer. You can check them out at www.capilanou.ca/ce. They're
also listed on page 17.
Instructor Bios
Instructor biographies are on the web: www.capilanou.ca/ce
REGISTER EARLY!
Our Serious Fun camps fill quickly, so the best way to get the camp (or
camps), you want is to register early. There are five ways to register:
online, phone, fax, in person, and mail. See page 20 for information and
a registration form. You can also download a registration form (and a
parental consent waiver) by visiting www.capilanou.ca/ce and clicking the
Forms and supply lists link under the Quicklinks section.
THE LUNCH ZONE!
For campers aged 5 to 12 registered in two different
half-day camps that run during the same week.
Phone 604.984.4901 to register.
Be warned! The Lunch Zone may include witty conversation, silly games, and running
through the sprinklers. Register for The Lunch Zone and build an appetite for fun!
The Lunch Zone lets your child attend two half-day camps that run during the same
week without you having to worry about picking them up at lunchtime. We’ll pick up
campers at the end of their morning camp, take them to a central location (The Lunch
Zone), and then escort them to their afternoon camp.
N O T E : Registration in the Lunch Zone is a full week commitment. Campers must
bring their own bag lunch. If your camper is registered in a day-long camp (not two
separate camps), lunch supervision is already included in the registration fee.

Stand aside, Ramsay and Oliver. Julia Child is probably the
world's most recognizable chef, and she's so much more. Her
story is one of perseverance and triumph against the odds and
cultural stigmas. She won the very first Emmy for an educational
TV program, and her cooking show The French Chef was the
very first television show to be captioned for deaf and hard
of hearing viewers. Don't be one of the flimsies. Live your life
