Equally, Kingspan insulated panel systems can be applied to atmospheric controlled environments where in all cases, high cost finished product protection and hygienic control is of utmost importance. The diverse product line offers a highly efficient perimeter for temperature extremes from blast freezers as cold as -50ºF (-46ºC) to pharmaceutical stability rooms up to 180ºF (82ºC); due to the high insulation characteristics of the product. Kingspan’s insulated panel joint design allows for strict hygienic control. When constructed, insulated panels provide a sealed monolithic structure, well suited to minimizing particulate accumulation. All panel surfaces are washable, preventing bacteria and mold growth and considered hygiene safe. The tight fitting panel joints offer superior airtightness, preventing thermal bridging and condensation. Kingspan’s cold storage supply chain solutions include the manufacture of both Kingspan Insulated Panels and Hercules Insulated Doors, a product line developed specifically for the needs of thermally controlled environments. Hercules Insulated Doors have a proven track record of very high utilization rates and low energy consumption. A variety of door styles and options are available for specific applications. Kingspan Insulated Panels and Hercules Insulated Doors are USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) and CFIP (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) accepted. Kingspan can offer a complete solution for any thermally controlled envelope clientele from processing to warehousing. Precise Thermal Control Ideally suited for environments where precise temperature is required, panels available in 2” to 6” thickness allow control specific operating temperatures from -40ºF( -40ºC) to 104ºF (40ºC). Superior Hygiene and High Performance Coatings and Liners Kingspan panels range of profiles and coating, accepted by CFIA and USDA resist moisture ingress and eliminate any risk of toxic mould or bacterial growth. The insulated panel features a tight-fitting tongue and groove interlocking joint which eliminates the build up of bacterial growth. Panel surfaces are washable, allowing strict hygienic control. High R-Value Kingspan insulated panels’ insulating cores provide superior thermal performance with tested R-values of up to 49. Most importantly, the insulation is exterior of the building structure providing the best possible thermal envelope by reducing thermal bridging typical of cavity insulation systems. In addition, the panels feature excellent foam-to-foam contact, which provides an unbroken thermal shield against heat transfer. 6 www.kingspanpanels.us | www.kingspanpanels.ca Superior Airtightness and Weathertightness One of the biggest sources of building heat loss (or heat gain) is due to air leakage i.e. – ‘leaky buildings’. Kingspan insulated panels are rigorously tested to ensure that they remain both air and weathertight over the life of the building. Faster Build Kingspan insulated wall and roof panels provide the exterior weather barrier, high efficiency insulation core and an integral vapor barrier. This reduces multiple labor steps required with other envelope systems down to a single operation. The internal walls are self supporting and do not require any additional framing. Kingspan insulated panels are available in a variety of cover widths with lengths of up to 52’, making on-site handling and positioning easier while increasing installation productivity. Kingspan’s single component systems can increase speed of build by up to 50% compared to traditional multi-part systems Warranties Kingspan insulated metal roof and wall panels have been used on every continent in the world under extreme climatic conditions and are manufactured from the highest quality materials, using state of the art production equipment to rigorous quality control standards, ensuring long-term reliability and service life. Contact Kingspan for more information regarding our optional warranty programs. www.kingspanpanels.us | www.kingspanpanels.ca 7 S U S TA I N A B L E S O L U T I O N S Sustainable Solutions The easiest, fastest and most cost-effective strategy to reduce energy demand and construction costs is to utilize the high thermal performance and superior airtightness benefits of Kingspan insulated wall and roof systems. Energy cost savings Kingspan insulated panels offer superior thermal performance of high R-value, superior airtightness and low thermal bridging. Building energy modeling has shown that Kingspan’s insulated wall and roof panels can yield as much as a 30% reduction in a building’s energy use. This reduction is a significant step toward the development of practical net-zero energy buildings. Carbon Emission Reduction Kingspan insulated panels are superior thermal and airtight systems that reduce a building’s operational energy demand (primarily heating and cooling), and as a result, it’s carbon footprint. Energy & Atmosphere Contributions to LEED ® Kingspan is committed to supporting green rating systems Innovation such as LEED® and Green Globes. Specification of effective In Design systems and materials is key to achieving these certifications. With this in mind, Kingspan provides a LEED® credits guide to assist the building team on how insulated metal panels contribute to overall building performance and ratings criteria. Materials & Resources Visit www.kingspanpanels.us/sustainability/leedinformation to download Kingspan’s LEED® statement for project submittals. Indoor Environmental Quality 8 www.kingspanpanels.us | www.kingspanpanels.ca Sustainable Sites Early planning of the building envelope makes sense. Incorporating superior airtightness and moisture control, as well as high R-value, is a critical first step to achieving an energy efficient LEED® certified and net-zero energy building. Kingspan, global leaders of insulated panels, gives you that, and more. Kingspan’s single component system can reduce on-site installation time by up to 50% compared to traditional multi part site assembled built-up systems, and is suitable for new and retrofit applications across the cold storage and temperature controlled environment sectors. Where do you start? With the EnvelopeFirst™. The new frontier of building design is known as ‘Net-Zero energy’. Simply stated, this is the ability of a building to be ‘energy neutral’, that is, the building produces enough of its own power so that it does not consume power from the grid. A critical element in achieving this standard is energy conservation and efficiency. The Path to NetZero™ app is a unique tool for the building industry that will simulate the process of achieving high performance and net-zero energy buildings. Experts report on modeling results that evaluate energy savings and the impact of using IMPs. This tool is accessible through interactive mobile applications available on the web as well as via free apps for the iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch and Android mobile devices.
