Your smart fortwo is engineered for long-term use. If you
plan to drive your vehicle beyond its four-year/80,000 km
new vehicle warranty, then an Extended Limited Warranty
might be right for you.
Extended coverage is available for up to six years or up
to a 120,000 km maximum, whichever comes first.* And if
you change your mind and decide to sell or trade in your
smart fortwo during this period, an Extended Limited
Warranty can help retain and increase the resale value
of your vehicle.

When can I purchase this warranty?
The Extended Limited Warranty can be purchased
at any time during the new vehicle basic warranty
period (48 months / 80,000 km), as long as the
current owner has purchased the vehicle from,
and regularly maintained it at an authorized
smart Centre.†
Extended Limited Warranty Term
Add 24 months of extended coverage or until the
vehicle has reached 120,000 km, to your new
vehicle basic warranty.
The Extended Limited Warranty begins at 48 months
or 80,000 km - whichever occurs first (the end
of your new vehicle warranty). If the vehicle
reaches 80,000 km prior to 48 months, then the
Extended Limited Warranty period will begin on
the repair order date of the first warranty claim
submitted at or over 80,000 km.

The items listed below are covered for 24 months of the ELW Coverage Period, or up to 120,000 KM whichever
occurs first:
1. ENGINE: Engine block, cylinder head(s), seals and gaskets, all internally lubricated parts, intake and exhaust
manifolds, timing chain cover, flywheel, flexplate (driven plate), vibration dampener (harmonic balancer), coolant
pump, turbocharger, belt tensioners and motor mounts.
2. TRANSMISSION: Transmission case, seals and gaskets, all internally lubricated parts, clutch disc, gear shift
motors, clutch motors, pressure plate, clutch release bearing and fork for Vehicles equipped with a manual
transmission.
3. REAR AXLE: Rear axle center section and all internally lubricated parts, seals and gaskets, axle side shafts,
bearings and hubs.
4. TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM ESP: ESP/ABS Hydraulic unit, pressure reservoir and control module.
5. COOLING SYSTEM: Thermostat, radiator, engine cooling blower assembly, coolant expansion tank, engine oil
cooler as well as the metal lines and fittings.
6. FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM: Vacuum control valve, fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, fuel injectors (gas and
diesel), fuel injector holders, all metal high pressure fuel injection lines and return lines, injection pump, fuel
heater (diesel only), fuel primer pump (diesel only), high pressure pump, mixture housing, fuel tank and
expansion tank.
7. STEERING SYSTEM: Ignition lock including cylinder/tumblers, steering knuckle, tie rods and rack and pinion
steering.
8. SUSPENSION: Coil springs, anti-sway torsion bar as well as associated linkage and brackets, shock absorber/
suspension struts, upper and lower control arms, as well as all suspension links and bushings, ball joints, wheel
bearing and wheel bearing seals.
9. BRAKE SYSTEM: Master cylinder, wheel cylinders, brake booster, vacuum pump, hydraulic unit (ABS or ESP)
brake calipers, metal hydraulic lines and fittings.
10. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: Starter system components, as well as all electrical motors, wiring harnesses and
connectors, sending units, sensors, switches, fuse boxes, relay modules, electronic control modules,
transmitters, instrument panel gauges, rheostats, potentiometers, A/C blower motor and blower regulator,
alternator and pulley, horns, actuators, timers, electro-mechanical valves and solenoids.
11. ELECTRONICS: ECU for engine management, ESP, SAMS, SRS, A/C Temp., BM, CCM, BAS, instrument cluster and
upper control panel.
12. CLIMATE CONTROL: All electrical components noted above, as well as the A/C compressor and clutch,
receiver/drier bottle, refrigerant hoses and connections, evaporator, expansion valve, condenser, heater core
and heater housing assembly.
13. BODY: Window regulators, sunroof cables, front and rear windshield wiper linkages and seat belt assemblies.
14. CENTRAL LOCKING SYSTEM: Actuator/element, switches and linkages.
15. REMOTE CENTRAL LOCKING: Transmitters (excluding batteries) and receivers.
16. SOFT TOP: Mechanical linkages, switches and sensors.
