Foreword
Dear guests,
A warm welcome to the 28th edition
of the Holland Film Meeting (HFM),
the international industry programme
of the Netherlands Film Festival. It is
always a pleasure to see old and new
friends and colleagues from all over
Europe gathering in Utrecht. We are
delighted to present this years’ four-day
programme to you, which includes a
focus day on European series, seminars,
workshops, and of course the HFM CoProduction Platform, the Binger/Screen
International Interview and the HFM
Work-in-Progress Session.
It has always been our ambition to
provide an effective meeting place for
film professionals from the Netherlands
and abroad. We furthermore want to
support European filmmakers and help
their co-productions by selecting and
presenting film projects-in-development
at the HFM Co-Pro Platform. More
details on the selected projects and
previous works of the filmmakers are
provided by Festival Scope.
In this year’s country focus we have
chosen to highlight our neighbouring
countries Germany and Belgium.
Therefore we are extra happy to
welcome the German scriptwriters
taking part in the programme Stories
& Beyond and the producers from the
Wallonia-Brussels Federation, who will
meet with their Dutch counterparts in
the programme The New Generation
Producers.
In the panel Audience across the
Borders, we will examine and discuss
distribution strategies of recent film
productions with a group of experts. It
is interesting to compare how some of
the recent European television series
seem to travel the continent – and the
world – with great success. This new
phenomenon will be scrutinised in the
seminar Be Dramatic! The New Wave of
European Series.
During your stay in Utrecht we would
also like to invite you to discover
the most recent Dutch films and
TV productions by attending our
International Screenings or if you
prefer, by streaming the films of our
resurrected Digital Film Library.
In this guide you will find a complete
overview of the programme, times,
dates and venues as well as all other
necessary practical information. It
further contains a list of all guests in
attendance.
Without the support of our financiers
the Holland Film Meeting would not be
possible so a big and warm thank-you
goes to all our national and international
partners and sponsors. On behalf of the
Holland Film Meeting team we hope you
find inspiration, pleasure and success
over the coming days in Utrecht.

industries. During this four-day-event, the recurring programme components the HFM Co-Production Platform, the Work-in-Progress Session and the
Binger/Screen International Interview - are accompanied by a growing number

Cinéart is an independent film
distributor exploiting theatrical, DVD,
TV and VoD rights in Belgium and
the Netherlands. The company’s
ambition is to select films based
on quality and to make the most of
them. Cinéart works hard to allow
every film to shine on the big screen
whether they are small, big, huge,
European, Asian, American, African,
cross-over, arthouse or mainstream.
Since its founding in Belgium in
2002, Imagine Film has released a
catalogue of films that is as diverse
as the medium itself: arthouse films,
comedies, dramas, documentaries.
One thing always stands out: they all
have quality. Many of them have been
awarded major prizes, two Golden
Palms, a couple of Oscars and
Césars and a Golden Lion in Venice.
In 2012 Imagine Film started a
Dutch branch that is quickly gaining
recognition by professionals and
audiences alike.
