Another year is almost over for us (the present Board). Business, however does not
stop as we step from one Board of Directors to another. IRLY is keeping in step with
some major changes started last year and continuing on its sights for the future.
There have been minor obstacles IRLY has had to contend with and you can see
clearly what a great job the IRLY team has done by the great year we had.
You should be noticing some changes available to your pricing programs. Wilway
Lumber has just instituted some changes with the help of Steve Cain and Brad Olsen,
which are expected to assist their receiving department and their margins.
Some great strides have been made to pricing for plumbing and electrical. There are
still more changes expected in this area.
Employee training opportunities are available at the NRHA website. Your e-access
information will be coming to you soon.
The Merchandising Team has been hard at work at Griff Building Supplies. Their
Grand Re-Opening Event is planned for the summer of 2007.
There is major work being done to update the IRLY computer system.
As so much of the work being done at IRLY is behind the scenes, it is good for you,
the dealer, to know that life is beyond the day-to-day buying, selling and shipping of
goods. Life is about knowing what is going on now and working towards your future.

GM NOTES

The AGM is fast approaching and by the time some of you receive this it will be well
underway. It will be a pleasure to see all that are attending along with the IRLY suppliers that are part of this event. Sales from the IRLY warehouse are increasing as we
have finally seen some sunshine. Building material pricing continues depressed even
though there are a number of pending price increases and increases in fuel surcharges that the IRLY buyers continue to negotiate with suppliers.
The Merchandising department continues to be busy and is very close to completing the store merchandising at Griff Building Supplies, the newest IRLY member. We
will include some more information on this project as well as a number of others that

have been successfully completed recently in the coming weeks.
We are still working on the commitment to increase plumbing and electrical sku’s at
the IRLY warehouse which includes some additional warehousing space. As we proceed with this project, EMCO, our current plumbing supplier, has made some drastic
drops in pricing on a number of lines along with additions of more retail products and
competitive prices.
They have also made a concerted effort to upgrade their sales force and they have
produced a new picture catalogue which is being distributed to all dealers. If you
have not received one please contact the IRLY warehouse.
There have been a number of changes made in products at the IRLY warehouse.
Please see under the buyers notes in this newsletter and continue to watch for more
information and literature being sent out.

We now have in stock whole whiskey barrels 040-3291 and the half barrels should
be in very soon. The vinyl sheds are still coming, and we will inform you of any new
developments as to when we may expect them. With the rivers rising you may want
to contact Burnaby Bag at 604-434-4725 for burlap bags. They are almost sold out
of burlap bags, and only have 1 weeks supply left. First come, first serve. For plastic
bags phone Palex at 604-946-0431. We are trying to find a new source for 10mil
poly. We will let you know as soon as possible. Sand filled bags (plastic) from Target
are available, phone John @ IRLY for quotes and delivery information. If worse comes
to worse we have only 2 water pumps left (King) 032-0772 or we have several kits

The nicer weather approaching certainly makes everyone forget about PELLETS.
Many dealers have been asking about pellets for next season. I am sorry to say that
any thoughts of stocking up on pellets during the summer is exactly what every other
dealer is considering and shortages still exist. In order to stock up we would have to
start buying now and you, the dealer, would have to take immediate delivery. I will
outline this in a memo shortly.
Pink Fiberglass insulation. Fiberglass went up on April 1st and we put our warehouse
pricing up in early May. Owens Corning has informed me that the increase is rescinded effective immediately. We will go back to pre-April 1 pricing immediately.
Prehung exterior 6-panel doors are now in stock, and have been well received.
Please be patient with stock-outs as we adjust purchasing.
We now stock Hamilton Drywall Fillers. They are cheaper than the Synko and contractors seem to like them. This will be a flyer item in the future.
See item No’s: 016-4150, 016-4152, 016-4154. We will be increasing our product
lines from Hamilton. Also, I am looking at all drywall items and expect to see decreases in the future on much of the accessories.
We have negotiated a temporary competitive allowance on Synko fillers to help with
some of the issues in the field.
Some dealers have complained about the quality of fascia. We have changed our
supplier to Dakeryn. Dakeryn’s quality is better, and as I have been watching their
pricing over the past several months and they have been consistently cheaper. In
some cases up to $75.00 per M.
There have also been many inquiries regarding Tuftex corrugated panels. I would
expect we will have that in stock in early June. Watch for a memo.

Due to unforeseen difficulties in obtaining a Gaming Event License, we are unable
to proceed with the car raffle. As a for-profit organization, we do not qualify for a
Gaming Event License, and due to changing regulations, we could not proceed as an
employee fund-raising group.
Contest kits have been shipped out and should be displayed in your stores. If you
require more entry forms, contact the advertising department.
Remember, June 17 is Father’s Day & we will be promoting the gift card in the flyer as
a great gift idea (096-0170). There is no charge for the cards. Be sure to get on the
program soon if you aren’t already.
Steve’s Computer News
Steve Cain
We have recently added the capability of sending out your daily order confirmations in Adobe PDF format via e-mail. These confirmations are easy to view or print
if required and will reduce the number of paper faxes you receive. The system can
broadcast the confirmation to more than one person at your store at the same time so
that if somebody is away you will still get your confirmations. We are also looking at
sending out invoices in the same manner which would allow you to get your invoices
the same day or even before you receive the goods. For further information please
contact me.
Just a reminder that almost all staff at IRLY has an e-mail address and this is our preferred method of communication. See www.irlybird.com under contact us for a current list. We understand that in a retail store it is not always practical for staff to have
e-mail and therefore we still rely heavily on fax broadcasts to get the message out.

Nechako Trading has now completed a full re-merchandising of their store and it
looks great! I would like to thank the staff at Nechako for all their help during the
project. Wade and I are now working on re-merchandising Griff Building Supplies
which is shaping up to be another great looking store in the IRLY chain. See the attachments for pictures showing off Nehako’s re-merchandising.
