Forms may also be downloaded at www.sdstatefair.com. 2) The South Dakota State Fair will accept Static Exhibits Entry Form and W-9 Form April 3-July 31, 2016 in all departments EXCEPT Literature which closes July 17, 2016 Mail or email to above addresses the completed forms. 3) Exhibitor must complete Static Exhibits Entry Form and W-9 Form with name, full address, and social security number. Exhibitor’s name on Static Exhibits Entry Form and W-9 Form must be the same. Incomplete and illegible forms will be returned. Remember to include entry fee. $30 service fee is charged if check is returned by a bank for insufficient funds. Entries may NOT be made by telephoning the South Dakota State Fair. 4) Exhibitor must complete a separate Static Exhibits Entry Form for each department. Only one entry may be made in each class unless stated otherwise in rules for that division/class. 5) Entry must be exhibited in the name of the person doing the work and completed since the last South Dakota State Fair between September 8, 2015 and August 19, 2016. 6) Youth is defined as 18 years of age and under prior to the State Fair. Youth may also enter in adult categories. Exhibits will be judged according to rules of the division. 7) Computerized entry tags will be mailed to exhibitors. Do NOT alter tags! Exhibits having altered tags will not be accepted and will be disqualified. 8) For exhibit check-in and release information, refer to Women’s Building, Horticulture Building, and Arts/Education Building Static Exhibit Premium Books. Please respect these times. No early releases. No exhibits will be released without claim tag. 9) Exhibit may be mailed to the South Dakota State Fair. Exhibit must be securely wrapped and boxed to prevent damage. Exhibitor is responsible for insurance. Entry tag must be attached to exhibit. Include a copy of Static Exhibit Entry Form to serve as packing slip and for check-in purposes. Draw a line through any item on the entry form NOT included with mailed exhibits. Exhibit must be received in the South Dakota State Fair office by August 19th, 2016 to qualify for judging. 10) Every precaution is taken for the safekeeping of exhibit. The South Dakota State Fair is NOT responsible for any loss or damage that may occur. 11) No exhibits may be sold. Do not display sales tags or advertising logos on exhibits. 12) Superintendents of the Women’s Building, Horticulture Building, and Arts/Education Building may determine the eligibility of exhibits and may disqualify exhibits if necessary. Disqualified exhibits may or may not be displayed during the State Fair as per superintendents’ decision. 13) Judge will not award premium to unworthy exhibit. If exhibit is not worthy of a first-place ribbon, judge may award a lower-place ribbon. 14) A division or class may be deleted if no entries are made for three years. 15) Exhibits not claimed will be shipped COD to exhibitor unless arrangements are made with the building superintendent. Items not claimed and not suitable for mailing become property of the South Dakota State Fair. 16) Premium checks will be paid within 90 days after the State Fair. Premium checks are void if not cashed within 180 days after issue date. 6 Women’s Building All exhibits in Crafts, Needlework, Recycling, Dried Foods & Canning will be received: Friday, August 19, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Judging to begin as early as Saturday August 20th at 6:00 p.m. All other food entries will be received: Tuesday, August 30, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Judging to begin after 2:00pm no late entries accepted! ****All above exhibits will be released**** Tuesday, September 6, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Please present claim tag to remove exhibit from building. The Spirit of Dakota award is given to: An outstanding South Dakota woman who has demonstrated leadership qualities and has been successful and admired in her community and state. Women with roots deep in South Dakota whose courage and strength of character have helped develop her family and community. A woman who has represented social, cultural, and education advancement for others. This award is not Mother of the Year, or Teacher of the Year, nor categorized but rather recognition of those outstanding women who have been the symbols of all that we are proud of in our Prairie Women. The nominee does not need to be a native of South Dakota, but must be a current, living resident of the state. The Spirit of Dakota Art Show is held in conjunction with the Spirit of Dakota Award Celebration & Banquet slated for the first Saturday of October at the Huron Event Center. First place winners in the Art and Photography Divisions will have the opportunity to have their winning entries chosen for display at the art show. The Spirit of Dakota Committee will select entries based on need and space availability. A panel of judges will select the best entry in each category for Fruit, Vegetable, Pickle and Soft Spread.
