Torque converter insertion machine PRESEN-049 Torque converter insertion machine Appearance Appearance 2 Torque converter insertion machine Outline Equipment Outline ------This equipment is used to install a torque converter onto a transmission unit. Conventionally, installing a torque converter onto a transmission unit was a timeconsuming manual task because the process of engaging the transmission and the torque converter properly was a very difficult one. In contrast, our newlydeveloped robot head makes it possible to assemble the torque converter and transmission quickly and reliably. This robot head is capable of handling work with various installation requirements using its numerical control function which provides simple numerical settings for different operating needs. Therefore, this equipment has a very high level of compatibility with different types or models, and has the ability to install all types of torque converters. It also shortens the time required for the installation process and relieves employees from performing a laborious task. This equipment is also capable of installing a torque converter sideways which means the unit can accommodate not only the front-engine front-wheel-drive layout but also the front-engine rear-wheel-drive layout for which it is not easy to hold the transmission upright. 3 Torque converter insertion machine Features Features ------Fully-Automated Torque Converter Installation In order to mount a torque converter onto the transmission, the parts of the torque converter and the transmission that become engaged have to be aligned correctly. Specifically, this task involves the extremely delicate and time-consuming process of correctly aligning and positioning the engaging parts of the spline, oil pump, and oil seal. It is also a very laborious task for employees as one of them must support the torque converter during the whole alignment process. Our newly-developed installation robot head is able to shorten the time required for this task because it is capable of various numerically-controlled motions such as approaching, moving away from and turning slowly around the object while avoiding rotating together with the object. At the same time, it detects the progress status of the installation task in real-time and performs a series of installation motions. Newly-Developed Installation Robot Head 4 Torque converter insertion machine Features Features ------Sideways Installation This equipment is capable of installing a torque converter sideways which means the unit can accommodate not only the front-engine front-wheel-drive layout but also the front-engine rear-wheel-drive layout for which it is not easy to hold the transmission upright. 5 Torque converter insertion machine Features Features ------Compatibility for Various Layouts This equipment has been used very flexibly for various layouts, in terms of the type of installation robot head as well as the method of supporting the torque converter and the type of transmission and positioning methods. Types ------Small Scale Serial Work Entry The equipment of this type allows the serial entry of multiple types of units. The type is identified using systems such as ID-Tags to determine the appropriate installation method. Medium Scale Parallel Work Entry The equipment of this type allows the parallel entry of multiple types of units. A torque converter of an appropriate type is selected and then installed depending on the type of transmission provided from the previous process. 6 Torque converter insertion machine Features Large Scale Palletization Included We also have experience in using this equipment in a large scale system including for the palletization of torque converters. 7 Torque converter insertion machine Dimensions & Contact Information External Dimensions (Torque Converter Installation Head) ------- 1380 Torque converter work 850 870 8
