The safety distance varies according to the work pressure: as a reference the average distance is about 15 metres. Do not lubricate, clean, repair the machine without first having disconnected the electric and hydraulic connections. One operator at a time must use the machine. Handle the plant protection products with maximum care, adopting all the necessary precautions during use, not only during the distribution phase, but also in the previous phases of preparation and mixing of the product. It is recommended that the instructions of the product to be distributed are read carefully since there are different rules according to the degree of toxicity. 7 A Safety instructions Trasport, handling and storage At the moment of delivery check that: - the delivery note and the contents of the packing correspond. - the packing is integral in order to individuate possibile damage that can be attributed to the transporter. In case of damage inform Casotti immediately. Particular precautions for transport are not needed since size is minumum amd weight is limited. Casotti sprayers are usually delivered in a carton of size cm 39 x 25 x 31, with some disassembled parts. If not installed immediately, the packing must be kept in a closed and dry place to avoid deterioration of the carton and of the sprayer itself. Should the packing be kept outside, cover with a rainproof cover, so that dust, rain and hunidity can not damage it. The material and parts that are subject to normal wear and the parts whose duration can not be estimated beforehand are excluded from the warranty. The buyer accepts that he is not entitled to any rights or any other compensation for possible damages such as loss of profit or sales, of production or harvest, for machine breakage or of any other indirect damage. Return of the product is not allowed without the written confirmation of the producer. All the expenses regarding transport and delivery are usually at the expense of the buyer. According to the current laws the warranty has a duration of 24 MONTHS starting from the date of delivery. Aware of the excellent quality and duration of our products, Casotti grants an extension of a total of up to 36 months on the period of warranty for the sprayers. The guarantee is not valid for those parts which are broken or worn due to: - Failure to follow the instructions of this use and maintenance manual. - Lack of or incorrect maintenance. - Negligence of the user regarding the operation of the sprayer. - Use of non suitable tools for maintenance - Modifications and tampering carried out or had carried out without specific approval from Casotti. - Use of non original spare parts. 8 9 A Technical information B Technical information Sprayer description The Casotti sprayer is a practical and modern means for rapid distribution of plant protection products, and has been designed and manufactured in conformity with directive 2006/42/CE. It consists of a central body made of steel and aluminium in which the pipelines that input the product to be distributed are installed. The sprayer must be applied to a tank for liquid and a pump is required. The liquid is put into pressure by the pump and opportunely filtered passes from the tank to the sprayers, supplied with nozzles, positioned lower down from the central body. An electric 12 Volt motor connected to the battery of the tractor generates the oscillating movement of the nozzles. 10 11 B Technical information Machine use The machine, which in this manual is defined Casotti sprayer, is to be used for the distribution of phytosanitary products on grass crops and other plants in general and, if necessary for cleaning and disinfection. The use on grass crops is suggested in those situations where it is impossible to use traditional sprayers, for instance: in the presence of obstacles to the machine passage, bumpy roads or slopes. The correct use of the machine is generally an alternative to the use of the manual lance. Any other use not approved or recommended by the manufacturer is contrary to the proper use and is to be considered incorrect use. The use of the machine is prohibited in the presence of wind or next to water streams as well as in areas defined as sensitive and vulnerable to phytosanitary products contamination. The use of phytosanitary products shall respect the amounts and methods defined by the rules in force in your Country. In case the machine is used for cleaning and disinfection, please contact Casotti in order to verify the use method and the suitability of the used product. Models and technical characteristics Are the sprayers all the same? No, they can be type EURO or type SUPER, check the plate. The body of the machine is different: In the body of models type EURO there are TWO steel bolts, a central one and a side one. In models type SUPER there are THREE pivots, two central ones and a side one. EURO: Electroget, Euroget, Electroget Olivo. SUPER: Dupiget, Dupiget Deluxe, Superget, Dupiget Olivo, Dupiget Vigneto, Dupiget Greenhouse. The mechanism which leads to the control pivots produces an oscillation of the jets of 180°, whilst the side pivot oscillates at about 90°. What is the side pivot used for? - To treat the initial part of the field, or at the end of treatment, if a strip of soil of limited width is left over. - To spray only from one side: we can insert a rubber tube and elbow nozzle support (es. cod. 13) onto this pivot (remove or cut off supply to the other possible elbows), opportunely orientating the nozzles. - To spray the olive tree from one side only, the appropriate bar must be inserted right on this side pivot (see olivo pag. 23) All the components are of excellent quality, in the more recent models even the screws and nuts and bolts are made of stainless steel. The rubber pipelines have particular textile intersections which strengthen the rubber making it torsion and weather-proof (from -30 to +70 degrees C.), the nozzles are made of steel or brass, with inserts made of widia or allumina (ceramic). Nozzles of different sizes are available, see table pag. 16. Anti drip devices can be applied to all the sprayers. 12 13 B Technical information Technical data Capacity per hectare Capacity per minute Pressure Voltage Electric absorption Noise Less than Installation and connections Min. 100 - Max. 1.000 Lt/hectare Min. 20 - Max. 180 Lt/min Min. 10 - Max. 50 bar 12 Volt 2.5 / 6 A 65 dB Electrical diagram Brown 2nd speed Black 1st speed White/light blue Light blue/black Grey Light blue Positive Red Green Black 1 2 3 4 5 6 Brown Light blue Legend 14 Electrical pug Socket 3 position switch Motor Rubber-coated cable Clamp The Casotti sprayer can be applied to any carried or pulled equipment, supplied with tank and pump. We recommend a medium pump or high pressure: minimum 20, maximum 50 bar. The sprayer does not work with low pressure pumps. Required capacity: minimum 35 litres per minute. Firstly apply a metal tube diam. 48 (not supplied) to the tank framework. Assemble the orthoganal joint onto the tube (cod. 30), then insert the support (cod. 29) into the joint. Position the sprayer, referring to the specifications of each model. Tighten the bolts to avoid the accidental fall of the machine. Activate the electric and hydraulic connections Electric connection: Add cable to the current plug supplied (cod. 31) in order to reach the position on the tractor with a voltage of 12 volt. (For 24 volt connection, contact Casotti for specific instructions). A double pole cable 2 x 1 in conformity with the current safety laws must be used. Warning: The plug coming with the machine has 2 codes next to the two poles, visible on the front side. When the cable is connected to the plug the positive pole has to be fitted into n° 58. If the wires are reversed this can cause irreparable damage to the electric components of the sprayer. Insert the electrical plug (cod. 31) to the socket ( cod. 27) positioned on the side of the central body. Activate the switch (cod. 28) positioned on the body of the sprayer, and make sure power arrives. Always keep at a safe distance from the moving parts. Hydraulic connection: Each pipeline coming from the pump must be inserted in the elbow (cod. 41) which is fixed to the tube support (cod. 23 or 24). In models without the tube support (for example sprayers for olive trees or vineyards) the pipeline coming from the pump must be inserted directly on the machine body, using the revolving union (cod. M300) supplied. 15 B Technical information Nozzle capacity table round hole nozzles Capacity l/min Hole mm 10 bar Distribution Calculation of the quantity of water for distribution in full field 15 bar 0.8 1.41 1.73 1.0 2.22 2.72 1.2 3.01 3.69 1.5 4.64 5.69 1.8 6.32 7.74 2.0 8.02 9.83 2.2 9.11 11.16 2.511.3113.85 2.812.6115.44 3.014.2617.46 3.517.4421.36 3.818.3822.51 To calculate the quantity of liquid to be distributed per hectare, refer to the following formula: D = Q x 600 / L x V where: D = Quantity to be distributed in litres per hectare Q = overall nozzle capacity in Lt/min L = Operative working width V = Speed That is: Overall nozzle capacity x 600 working width x speed = litres of liquid per hectare Approximate working width: Weeding10 metres Treatment 12 metres Nozzle capacity table fanshapped nozzles Capacity l/min Hole mm 1.2 1.5 1.8 10 bar 1.99 2.92 4.13 15 bar 2.43 3.64 5.12 Example: The machine has n° 2 round hole nozzles diameter 2,5 mm, and a fanshaped nozzle V7 diameter 1,5 mm. Exercise pressure of the pump is 15 bar. Speed 6 Km/hour Using the table here, let’s calculate the overall capacity of the nozzles: 13,00 + 13,00 + 4,60 = 30,60 litres/min. 30,60 x 600 10 x 6 = 306 litres per hectare The calculation is approximate and must be verified on the field. 16 17 B Technical information Modification of the angle of oscillation Possible breakages The Casotti sprayer usually comes appropriately adjusted in accordance to the work to be carried out. For example, in the models for treatments of full field, the nozzles describe an angle of about 180°; in the models for olive trees the nozzle oscillates with an angle of about 90°. To modify the angle of oscillation, use the regulator under the rubber plug (cod. 4) in the lower cover. Remove the plug and turn the switch to the lowest speed. Stop movement using the switch, when “ 0 “ is shown at the centre of the hole: reference “ 0 “ indicates regulation at 180°. To modify the angle of oscillation, loosen the screw and with a screwdriver push the regulation lever for about 2 cm., then check that the angle is the desired one. If this is not so regulate the lever again. This chapter lists the most frequent anomalies, the possible causes and solutions to restore normal conditions of operation. If the breakage is not included in the case study shown here, Casotti can be contacted for necessary indiciations. The liquid does not arrive: - Make sure the tank is not empty. - Check operation of the pump. The nozzle holder elbows do not oscillate: - Check there is electric supply to the motor - Disassemble the cover and check for motor breakdown. - Check if the white plastic gear inside the motor is worn. (see diagram) WARNING: when ordering the motor gear as spare part, the number of cogs or the motor initials must be specified. - 56 cogs for motor TGE 597 (from1985 to 1992) - 55 cogs for motor TGE 428 (from 1993 onwards) Gear 56 cogs is no longer available, substitute the motor. TGE 428 can be applied in place of the old motors. Gear 18 19 B Maintenance and dismantling Do not allow non qualified personnel to carry out maintenance operations and make sure the personnel in charge of the machine has read this manual. Do not carry out maintenance operations while the system is in operation All operations of maintenance and repair must be carried out with the electric supply cut off , maintenance in the electric part must be carried out by specialized personnel. Always use Casotti original spare parts, use of non original spare parts can cause irreparable damage to the system and to personnel. Normal maintenance of the sprayer is solved by lubricating the internal pivots of the cogged wheels, which give movement to the elbow nozzle support, by pumping lubricant into the grease box. It is not possible to see when lubrication is necessary therefore use 1 pump up a year as a reference. The Casotti sprayer as designed does not require specific cleaning, having said this we recommend that the pipelines are cleaned with water at the end of the work cycle. The machine is made up of different types of material: these must be disposed of in accordance to the current laws in the country of use. Contact the appropriate authorities for locations and procedures. The first operation to be carried out is elimination of the electric connection between sprayer and the tractor. Unscrew the rubber tube which connects the pump to the sprayer, unscrew the orthogonal joint ( fig. 30 spare parts) and remove the sprayer from the support tube. Disassemble the various parts of the sprayer and carry out disposal of the various parts, such as: C Instructions for use Treatments and weeding on open field The use on grass crops is reserved for those situations preventing the use of traditional sprayers, for instance: in the presence of obstacles to the machine passage, bumpy roads or slopes Casotti sprayer is a valid alternative to the use of the manual lance. The Casotti sprayers are in particular suitable for antiparasitic treatment. As far as weeding and drying up is concerned, they can be used only in certain conditions and with the adequate caution. The use of the machine is prohibited in the presence of wind or next to water streams as well as in areas defined as sensitive and vulnerable to phytosanitary products contamination. The sprayer can be applied to any carried or pulled equipment, supplied with tank and medium or high pressure pump, minimum 20 bar. The recommended work pressure is about 10 bar for weeding, from 10 to 15 bar for antiparasitic treatments. The machine must be positioned at a height of about 50-60 cm from the ground or from the vegetation. According to the model, there are one or more jets, called elbow nozzle supports. Horizontal movement of the elbow or about 180° simulates the movement of manual lances. Using the appropriate regulation screws, assemble the sprayer so that the elbows remain perfectly horizontal. Infact, the jets must not touch the ground or the vegetation: the product atomizes at mid air and then falls again. Distribution is uniform, equal to traditional systems (bars). Anti drip devices are available on request. - Stainless steel - Iron - Aluminium - Bronze - Rubber 20 21 Instructions for use The total working width varies from 6 to 14 metres, and depends on the pressure and on the diametre of the nozzles. The average working width is about 10 metres, referring to standard nozzles: two round nozzles diam. 2,5 mm and one fanshaped nozzle diam. 1,5 mm at an average pressure of 10 bar. Olive tree When treating the foliage of the olive tree, peach tree or similar, the sprayer jets work vertically, that is they oscillate from top to bottom and viceversa, at an angle of about 90°, simulating the movement of the manual lance. However, in the treatment on field keep in mind that a minor quantity is distriibuted on two ends compared to the central part. This is not effect of drifting since it occurs also in optimal conditions, it is simply determined by the characteristics of the machine itself, which could be defined as a “mechanical” lance. Therefore, a superimposition of about m 1-1,50 is recommended in the subsequent phase. The sprayer can be applied to any carried or pulled equipment, with a high pressure pump (50 bar), the recommended work pressure goes from 25 to 30 bar. A sufficiently long metal tube must be fixed at the back of the tank, which allows the sprayer to be positioned at a height of about 2 metres from the ground. The angle of oscillation and the height from the ground is decided in accordance to the size of the trees. For manoeuvres at bottom field the output of liquid must be interrupted, for example by removing the power take off. Idle movement does not cause problems. The sprayers for the olive trees have one or two bars, cod. 32/R, see photo pag. 52/53. If positioned correctly, the sprayer looks like a watch: the clock face is the round cover of the machine (the regulation plug is visible cod. 4), the bars are the watch hands, indicating the time 10 and 10 minutes. How to calculate the quantity distributed per hectare? The quantity (approximate) is obtained using a simple formula, see pag. 17 The bar nozzles can be regulated, making it possible to vary the widenss and length of the range, and can be closed. Is it possible to spray from only one side? Yes see pag. 13 What’s the difference between the various models? See technical charateristics, pag. 13 Depending on the type of treatment to be carried out , four models are available: Electroget, Euroget, Dupiget, Superget. Electroget and Euroget can operate also with low capacity pumps, minimum 35 lt/min Dupiget and Superget need pumps with a higher capacity, mnimum 60 lt/min 22 If there are scattered trees, spraying must be carried out from one side only. The most suitable model is Electroget Olivo (pag. 53). In normal systems, if the trees are sufficiently big and close by, treatment can be done in a single phase from both sides, using model Dupiget Olivo (pag. 52). However, spraying from one side only can be done even with Dupiget, by closing a pump delivery or by rotating the adjustable jets till they are closed. How not to waste product between one olive tree and the next? Stop distribution of liquid (idle oscillation of the jets does not cause problems) in different ways: - Using the pump control unit. - Using the device Casotti STOPPER. - Completely automatically, using the device Casotti AQUILOTTO. 23 C Instructions for use Vineyard The Casotti sprayer is effective in the vineyard, both in the distribution of traditional products, as well as of synthesis. Ideal in biological grape growing and in vineyards on a slope. It operates also with tractors of modest power, thus avoiding the excessive compression of the soil. The sprayer can be applied to any carried or pulled equipment, with high pressure pump (50 bar), the recommended work pressure goes from about 10 to 15 bar. Dupiget Vigneto has two bars fitted with 3 nozzles, available with or without anti drip device. The bars oscillate horizontally at an angle of about 45°, favouring penetration of the product. In the espalier vineyard the sprayer must be positioned at the adequate height, so that the jets of the bar are in correspondence with the foliage. At the start of treatment only one nozzle per side is used, the rest are closed. As the vegetation increases the other nozzles are gradually opened up. In the vineyard, in order to avoid product dispersion in the atmosphere, it is recommended to spray always and exclusively between the rows on the espalier, DUPIGET must not be used for simultaneous spraying of several rows from the top. When carrying out manoeuvres at bottom field liquid output must be interrupted, for example by disinserting the power take off . Idle movement does not cause problems. ELECTROGET Code EURO-B The sprayer is made up of the machine body and some parts to be assembled: - 1 orthogonal joint cod. 30 - 1 support cod. 29 - 1 support for the rubber tube, cod. 24 - 1 rubber tube cod. 5 - 1 elbow with double nozzle cod. 13 - 1 Double-pole current plug cod. 31 The elbow comes with a round hole nozzle diam. 2,5 mm and a fanshaped nozzle V8 (1,2 mm). The machine body is of type EURO : there are two bolts, a central one and a side one. What is the use of the closed side pivot? See pag. 13 How to carry out assembly? The tube and the elbow are installed in the central pivot. Screw the tube support onto the fusion, and insert the rubber tube. When screwing the tube to the sprayer, hold the pivot with a plier to avoid forced rotation of the internal mechanism. Orient the tube so that the resistance to movement is the same in both directions of oscillation. Models without pipelines (that is without tube cod. 5 and tube support cod. 24) the pipelines coming from the pump must be inserted directly onto the sprayer body, by means of the revolving union (cod. M300) supplied. Periodically grease the internal part of the revolving union (it is better to use Teflon grease); to disassemble it, remove the snap ring placed on its top. 24 25 C Instructions for use Position the double elbow onto the central pivot. Before tighetening the nut, use the switch to stop the elbow in its maximum rotation from one side. The elbow must be in the perpendicular to the direction of operation, that is orientated to the right or to the left. Hold the pivot with a plier, tighten the nut and check that the elbow describes an angle of about 180° during rotation. Can the angle of oscillation be varied? See pag. 18 How to carry out installation? See pag. 15 How to use Electroget in full field? See treatment and weeding, pag. 21 Can Electroget also be used in the olive grove ? Yes, an accessory is needed: the olive bar cod. 32/R. Remove the elbow and the rubber tube from the central pivot and close it. Apply the olive bar and the tube on the side pivot. Reduction of oscillation is not necessary, because the side pivot already oscillates at about 90°. Instructions for use, see olive, pag. 23 Can Electroget also be used in the vineyard? It is preferable to use a model tupe SUPER in the vineyard. If you already own Electroget, a particular accessory can be applied to the central pivot in place of the elbow: a bar fitted with 6 nozzles. Reduce the angle of oscillation to a minimum. Instructions for use, see vineyard pag. 24 EUROGET Code EURO-A The sprayer is made up of the machine body and some parts to be assembled: - 1 orthogonal joint cod. 30 - 1 support cod. 29 - 1 support for the rubber tubes, cod. 24 - 1 long rubber tube cod. 5 - 1 short rubber tube cod. 38 - 1 long elbow cod. 40 - 1 small elbow cod. 39 - 1 Double-pole current plug cod. 31 The long elbow comes with a round hole nozzle diam. 2,5 mm, the small elbow has a fanshaped nozzle V8 (1,2 mm). The machine body is of type EURO : there are two bolts, a central and a side one. How to carry out assembly? The long tube and the long elbow must be installed on the central pivot. The short tube and the small elbow must be installed on the side pivot. Screw the tube support onto the fusion, and insert the rubber tubes. When screwing the tubes onto the sprayer, hold the pivot with a plier to avoid forced rotation of the internal mechanisim. The tubes must be orientated so that resistance to movement is the same in both directions of oscillation. Models without pipelines (that is without tubes cod. 5 - 38 and tube supports cod. 24) the pipelines coming from the pump must be inserted directly onto the sprayer body, by means of the revolving unions (cod. M300) supplied.
