She’s sleek, chic and this season, she’s totally
on trend. Nod to Ariel’s unique aquatic style with
shimmering and shell-embellished accessories –
Comme des Garçon’s iridescent wallet and
Yves Saint Laurent’s coral-style ring are top of
our wish list. This must be underwater love.
Hooded tops are the perfect
way to embrace the season’s
sportswear trend. Here are
three reasons to love them:
• They go with everything, from
maxi skirts to leather pants.
• When the big freeze sets
in, the hooded sweater is
an ideal layering piece.
• In zingy chartreuse or intense
red, the new styles are athletic
with a modern twist.

n seeing a Missoni collection
for the first time in 1969,
pioneering fashion editor
Diana Vreeland famously exclaimed,
“Look! Who said that only colors
exist? There are also tones.” It is this
unique intertwining of rainbow-hued
threads that create the signature
geometric-patterned knitwear the
Italian brand is most famous for –
that, and its heritage, which is steeped
in family tradition. Originally founded
by Rosita and husband Tai in 1953,
today the house is under the creative
care of daughter Angela, 52, and
grand-daughter Margherita, 28, who
continue to create collections true
to the label’s trademark boho-chic

four changes a day.
I live in Shropshire, and one of
my favorite places in the world
is home. I’m not really a very festive
person but I love that turning point in
the year. It’s a very reflective time for
me. I spent Christmas in India last year
which was extraordinary.
‘‘You’ve got to have
good DANCING shoes.
But there are times
when you just have
to kick them OFF!’’
It’s much easier for me to give
a gift, but also I love receiving
them. I’m always incredibly grateful
when a gift is really thoughtful. It’s not
a question of just giving something
new – it’s really got to be a part of
somebody’s life.
What I wear one day affects
what I wear the next. I don’t really
have a uniform; it’s like a high-speed
version of what happens on
the runways.

For me the holidays are about
people coming together. It’s not
about a specific place, so long as I am
surrounded by family and friends eating
a yummy all-day meal I’m happy.
The best gift to give and to
receive is a book. You can never
go wrong because there’s always
something new to learn.
I grew up on the Upper East Side,
so I love Central Park – especially

Never buy a present for someone
that you wouldn’t want yourself.
Obviously I think about that person but
giving a gift should be about your love
for the object as well as the person.
My favorite Christmas movie is
National Lampoon’s European
Vacation. I know it’s not traditionally
festive but it was always on TV during
the holidays when I was a kid. I know
every single word to that film.
I’m a sentimental dresser, when
I grow to love someone I connect

Recently I’ve met Richard Nicoll and

Proenza Schouler for years – they all
have so much integrity and follow their

My rocking horse Riad is my

‘‘Style is natural

I think that it’s far better to

much to share things with others,
but the good feeling you get back
from it is huge.
London is my favorite city for
fashion. It’s non-conformist and has
such an eclectic mix. If you went out
wearing a pirate costume no one
would bat an eyelid.
I love the style of Florence Welch,
Anna Della Russo and Dita Von

the elegance of their era like Marilyn
