How to Start
This Product Selection Guide has been designed to help you choose the right products to build up an access
control system.
The first step is to choose the type of system you want: Compact, Switch2 or Net2. See below for an explanation of
what these systems are.

Standalone access control
Standalone systems are administered using programming cards rather than a PC.
The doors controlled using standalone systems operate independently. The simple
method of administration, using card packs, allows users to be granted access to
all doors using a single token. Standalone systems are simple to install as they do not require a network
connection. These systems are ideal for sites with a relatively low rotation of card holders and are available in
proximity token, keypad and magstripe card versions.

Compact

everything is housed within the reader. This means that there are fewer components leading to an easier installation.
Simply connect a power supply and an electric lock. Tokens are used to gain access. As Compact is a standalone
system it is administered using our simple card packs.
Switch2
Switch2 is a standalone system with a separate control unit. This means it is suitable for high security doors and
general external use. The system consists of a control unit, reader, tokens, power supply and an electric lock. As
Switch2 is a standalone system it is administered using our simple card packs.
PC
PC based access control
PC based refers to networked access control systems that are administered using
one or more PCs. Being networked means that all doors on the system can be
administered from a central location. A user can be instantly denied access to all
doors if required. PC administration gives greater flexibility over the control of the system. For example, users
can be granted access into particular areas only at specific times. Reports can be generated showing a history
of user movements around the building.
PC based systems are generally easier to manage and are much better at handling large numbers of users and
doors. This makes them suitable for buildings of all sizes. PC based systems can be used with proximity token
readers, keypads and magstripe card readers.
Net2
Net2 is an advanced PC based system. It has easy to use, intuitive software. Users can be added to the system
quickly. Access reports can be generated at the click of a button. The door control units are networked and have been
designed to be simple to install and configure.
While being simple to use and install, the Net2 system has a complete range of powerful features which will fulfil most
clients' requirements. Net2 system components include control units, readers, tokens, power supplies, electric locks, a
desktop reader and software.

Net2 systems - A typical setup - PC based access control
Net2 is an advanced PC based system with easy to use, intuitive software and a range of
single door controllers. Users can be added to the system quickly and access reports can
be generated at the click of a button. Net2 door control units are networked and have been
designed to be simple to install and configure.

The Net2 system has a complete range of powerful features which will fulfil most access requirements. Net2 system
components include control units, readers, tokens, power supplies, electric locks, a desktop reader and software.
Net2 control units use different means of communication to exchange information with the server PC. We have IP,
wireless and battery powered door controllers that can be mixed and matched on a site, providing an extremely
flexible solution.
