any other person any authority to make or give, any representations or warranty. Each lot is sold with all
faults, imperfections and errors of description and neither the vendor nor the auctioneer is
responsible for the authenticity, attribution, genuineness, origin, authorship, date, age, period,
condition or quality of any lot. All statements and estimates in this catalogue are statements of opinion
and are not to be taken as statements or representations of fact. Purchasers are deemed to have satisfied
themselves before bidding by inspection or otherwise to all such matters, and as to the physical description
of any lot. A qualified electrician must check any electrical items before connecting to a supply.
2. Highest bidder to be the buyer. If any dispute arises, the Auctioneer shall have absolute discretion to
settle it and to put any disputed lot up again.
3. There is no Buyer's premium - the price you bid is the price you pay.
4. Goods become the liability of the buyer immediately after the fall of the hammer.
5. Terms are cash to be paid on the day or, if arrangements have been made, cheques may be accepted.
6. All lots must be taken away at the buyer's expense at the conclusion of the sale. No lot may be removed
without presenting a receipted invoice to a porter who will collect the lots for you. Please ensure you have
all the items you have paid for before leaving. Any lots not claimed will become the property of the
Westcountry Horological Trust.

The Westcountry Horological Trust was established in 2000 and aims to advance the horological education and/or
training of those who aspire to become horologists and are living in Devon, Cornwall and part of Somerset. It is hoped
that more than token support to a few individuals can be achieved.
Today’s sale will help, and you will see a few lots marked with the ☺ these have generously been given to the Trust.
Donations are always welcome also any money left to the Trust in a will falls outside your estate as far as inheritance
tax is concerned.
The Trust is anxious to build funds more quickly in order to make an impact – Please contact the Trust via the

holes, “later London cherub head spandrels 1690-1720”. Chapter ring signed Tho. Herbert at
Chareing Cross. This is probably the Thomas Herbert listed in Whitehall, London (Charing
Cross is at the top of Whitehall), Clockmakers’ Company 1676-1708. Clockmaker to the King.
In 1703 he petitioned Queen for payment of arrears of monies owed for restoration of the late
King’s clocks and received £79 *
