PNOZ
Plug-in terminals with screw or cage clamp
Save costs
with “plug-and-play”
Units with plug-in terminals offer
a great advantage in terms of
both economy and safety. Using
plug-in terminals enables short
commissioning and service
times. Smaller housing sizes
mean greater functionality inside
the control cabinet.
Plug-in terminals in screw and
cage clamp technology – on the
compact safety relays PNOZ X
and PNOZelog.
Playing it safe
Coded connectors ensure that
units can be exchanged quickly,
without problem and without the
risk of error; they also increase
handling security and therefore
reduce downtimes. Cables
can also be pre-prepared. The
cost-intensive process of wirelabelling is no longer necessary,
as the cables cannot be inserted
incorrectly.
Reduced downtimes because the
plug-in terminals with cage clamp
connection are easy to service.
12
connection
Compact safety relays
with cage clamp connection
On a cage clamp terminal,
the bundled strands of the
con-nection cable are inserted
through an opening in the cage
clamp and then clamped.
If existing units have plug-in
terminals that use screw
connections, it’s possible to
replace these one-to-one with
cage clamp terminals. Circuit
diagrams do not have to be
redrawn.
The special feature with Pilz
cage clamp terminals lies in
the double level terminal blocks.
This means it’s possible to
connect 2 cables with a cross
section of up to 1.5 mm2. So
with this technology, it’s much
easier to loop through.
Save costs as
there’s no need to fit
crimp connectors.
Plug-in terminals in screw and
cage clamp technology – tried and
tested on the modular safety system
PNOZmulti.

“2-in-1” – The
bifunctional PNOZelog
Fewer downtimes thanks to
extended
diagnostics
Do you require E-STOP or safety
gate monitoring within a compact
safety unit? Monitor two safety
functions simultaneously with
just a single unit. You save
on wiring. With a width of just
22.5 mm, the space requirement
within the control cabinet is
reduced to a minimum.
Maximum functionality is
achieved through the internal
Easy-to-use diagnostics
make the unit cost-effective
PNOZelog has extensive
diagnostic options:
Simple LED indicators and
status output enable the easiest
possible on-site diagnostics,
without additional tools.
Integral diagnostic PLC interface for all common PLC systems. Drivers are available.
Internal and external faults
are detected, such as shorts
across contacts or wiring
errors.
16
Where several PNOZelog
units are linked, all you need
is one PLC output and one
PLC input for each unit that
you use. The device status
plus faults in the input and
output circuit are detected and
signalled to the PLC system.
The detailed information that
is gained about the products’
system status reduces machine
downtimes and enables any
potential error sources to be
removed immediately.

tool. The configuration is stored
on a chip card and is downloaded to the PNOZmulti
base unit.
The latest highlights include safe
speed and standstill monitoring,
connection to fieldbus systems,
muting functionalities, new base
units for press applications,
for example, and much more.
The continual expansion of the
product range safeguards your
investment – just talk to us!

Base unit PNOZ m0p –
The compact solution …
… for machines on which
three to six safety functions
are monitored. PNOZmulti is
economical from just three
functions. Your costs are even
further reduced through simple
diagnostics, for example via
fieldbus modules for all
common fieldbus systems.
Particularly suitable for use on
small machines, the PNOZ m0p

Positive diagnostics –
Always in the picture with
PNOZmulti
It is possible to call up detailed
information about the external
wiring or the status of individual
safety devices. The data to be
downloaded is selected and
configured directly within the
PNOZmulti Configurator via drag
and drop. The amount of time
saved during configuration
and wiring is a further benefit.
Simple, cost-effective integration
within plant or machinery also
saves costs and reduces
commissioning times.
Fieldbus modules for all
common fieldbus systems
are particularly easy to use.
Signalling and control is twoway. In addition to diagnostic
and status information,
controller information
(commands) can also be
transmitted directly from the
controller to the PNOZmulti via
the fieldbus. The diagnostic
system PMImicro diag will
shortly be available for simple,
meaningful diagnostics. This
will enable the use of plain text
messages, to ensure plant
and machinery can be restarted quickly, for example.
User-friendly diagnostic and
control information guarantees
short downtimes and high
plant availability.
With PNOZmulti there are
several options:
Communication with common
automation systems such as

PNOZmulti
For increased cost-effectiveness
Monitoring drives safely
The PNOZmulti modular safety
system enables drives to be
monitored safely for standstill
and speed in set-up and
automatic mode, up to and
including Category 3 in
accordance with EN 954-1. It is
possible to monitor up to eight
independent axes. Up to eight
selectable limit values plus
standstill can be monitored
on each axis, either through
incremental encoders or
proximity detectors. Data is
evaluated in the PNOZmulti for
further processing. The direction
of rotation can be detected
simultaneously.
Simple speed configuration
Simple speed configuration
within the PNOZmulti Configurator
48
Set values are simply entered in
the graphics configuration tool,
the PNOZmulti Configurator.
Safety functions such as
E-STOP, safety gates and
operating mode selector
switches are easy to configure
and monitor using PNOZmulti.
So applications such as
opening a safety gate on standstill, teach mode or safe reduced
speed during set-up mode and
process monitoring are easy
to implement.
Two versions of the speed
monitor are available.
Switching high loads safely
Modules from the modular
safety system PNOZpower can
be connected via the coupling
connector PNOZ pe2p. Power
modules switch off supply
voltages and motors directly
and safely. The ability to switch
high currents of up to 16 A per
module removes the need for
external contactors. And you
can enjoy the additional benefits
of the PNOZmulti, such as
extended diagnostics and
simple configurability.
Simply combine the modular safety systems PNOZpower
and PNOZmulti using the coupling connector PNOZ pe2p.
Network safely
via cascading
PNOZmulti base units can
be networked – either with a
series connection or via a tree
structure. Electronic PNOZelog
safety relays may also be
included in the network. The
cascading function can be used
to implement selective shutdowns and to commission plant
sections. Reduced downtimes
and increased productivity are
your very real benefits.

PNOZpower
Modular safety system PNOZpower
Switching high loads safely
Connection to PNOZmulti
The modular PNOZpower safety
system is suitable for monitoring
E-STOPs, safety gates and light
barriers. PNOZpower can switch
currents of up to 16 A AC/DC
per contact. An overall breaking
capacity of 40 A is available per
module. In each case, external
contactors and contactor combinations are no longer required.
PNOZpower modules can
be connected to the modular
PNOZmulti safety system via the
coupling connector PNOZ pe2p.
Modular and flexible
Save costs
through modular
output contacts.
The base module processes
the inputs; the output modules
are specifically matched to the
respective load.
The number and capacity of the
required safety contacts can
be scaled, depending on the
application. A maximum of five
modules can be connected to
the base unit. Modules are wired
to the base unit via an internal
bus system.
PNOZ po3.3p
Simply combine the modular safety systems PNOZpower
and PNOZmulti using the coupling connector PNOZ pe2p.
