Diagnosis of Glaucoma
This course will discuss the steps used in establishing the
diagnosis of glaucoma. The different tests (history, tonometry,
optic nerve, visual fields, selective perimetry, imaging, gonioscopy)
will be described and how each is incorporated into the decision
making process. The concept of using multiple tests to corroborate
whether loss is present will be described.
So Many FLCs (Funny Looking Corneas) – So Little Time
Many optometrists still don’t treat corneal disorders, not because
they don’t want to but because they know there’s no room for error
and thus, their workup takes too much chair time and makes it cost
inefficient. There’s a systematic way to do it safely, accurately and
QUICKLY!

Glaucoma Grand Rounds
The management of glaucoma requires the clinician to make an
ongoing series of decisions that start with the initiation of therapy
and continue as the patient is followed over time. Using case
presentations including ocular hypertension, glaucoma suspects,
and different forms of glaucoma, this course reviews the clinical
decisions that face the optometrist managing glaucoma and
discusses alternatives for each decision.

Dealing with Ocular Emergencies/Anterior Segment Jeopardy
3:30pm – 5:30pm
5:30pm – 10:00pm
10:30pm – 12:00pm
Dealing with Ocular Emergencies
There are only a few “true” ocular emergencies that should get you
out of bed in the middle of the night. The newer you are at this
stuff, the less sleep you’ll get. But let’s discuss some “veteran’s”
ideas that may just give you a better night’s sleep.
Anterior Segment Jeopardy
Twenty-eight unknown cases of varying degrees of difficulty are
projected on a PPT Jeopardy board. An audience volunteer
selects a case which is then presented to the entire audience with
clinical information, photos, diagnostic and management options
with audience questions invited. After discussion and questions,
diagnostic and management choices are selected by the volunteer
and the audience (electronically) and then the correct diagnosis is
presented and discussed; “Take home clinical pearls” regarding
diagnosis and management are provided.

Multiple pairs of spectacles can be beneficial to almost
everyone. This lecture will discuss how, when and why to
consider, present and sell multiple pairs of spectacles to clients
after an Rx update.
Frame Update
What’s new in frame designs? Some frames are brand new
technology and others are blasts from the past! We’ll review
some helpful hints to help adjust those “non traditional” frame
styles too. The prescription is an important part of the frame

Red Eyes, Red Flags and Red Herrings
The patient presenting with a "red eye" can often be very
difficult to triage - as some "red eyes" can have mild causes
and others are very serious and require urgent diagnosis and
treatment. This lecture will explore the various different
presentations of "red eye" patients -- including discussions on
the RED FLAGS (serious causes of red eyes) and RED
HERRINGS (those causes that are sometimes misdiagnosed
or confused with other causes). The presentation will be
interactive and case-based with particular emphasis on triage
and urgency of treatment for various red eye diagnoses.
