DeVilbiss Scout Reservation
Camp Miakonda
Camp Miakonda located on the DeVilbiss Scout Reservation was established
in 1917 and is one of the oldest Boy Scout camps in the United States. It is a
160 acre reservation located in the Sylvania Twp. on the outskirts of Toledo,
OH. The property consists of
one lake, multiple hiking trails,
and many historical Scouting
buildings. Miakonda is also
home to a premier Historical
Scouting Museum in which the
building itself is registered as
the oldest Scouting building
still standing in the United
States. The museum’s collection includes both general and Miakonda specific
historical Scouting memorabilia, and boasts many rare and interesting pieces.
There are a multitude of buildings and services available for rent including 16
rustic and historical cabins for weekend stays, adirondack camping sites, tent
camping sites, a dining/banquet hall (food service options availible), a large
meeting hall w/stage,
swimming pool, and an
outdoor amphitheater with
lights and sound system.
Activities include low and
high COPE (ropes course),
shooting ranges (archery,
BB,
wrist rockets, and
blow darts), and a variety
of hiking trails.

Camp Rules

Check-in starts at 6:30pm on Friday

All units must check out by 10:00am Sunday

NO unauthorized vehicles allowed in camp from 6:30pm Friday to
11:30am Sunday

Troop gear may be dropped off before 6:30pm Friday with approval from
the camp ranger

Carts are available near the warehouse to help carry gear

All garbage is to be deposited in the dumpster in the back lot

Cub Scout age children are to sleep on bottom bunks for safety purposes

Buckets of coal are placed in cabins with coal burning stoves. Please refill
the bucket of any used coal at the warehouse and return them to the
cabin for the next guests

Outdoor cooking fires are restricted to four areas; near Raymer Cabin,
near Sacred Heart Cabin, near Steadman Cabin, and behind the OA Cabin

All units are asked to complete a camp service project that can be used
towards their advancement requirements (see ranger or camp host for
more information)

Tools can be checked out at the camp shed from the camp host for service
projects

All units are asked to participate in raising and lowering of the flag

The camp’s Trading Post offers pop, candy, t-shirts, books, camping gear,
flashlights, etc. (ask for hours of operation upon arrival)

The Camp Historical Museum is open most Saturday afternoons

Reservation Rules and Guidelines

Reservations can be made up to one year in advance for the desired
dates

Reservations for food service and activities must be made at least one
month in advance so proper supplies and staffing can be arranged

Reservations must be paid within three weeks of booking (reservations
not paid within three weeks of booking will be released for rental)

Refunds for cancellations will only be issued at least one month prior
to the scheduled reservation and fee will be returned less 15%
(Cancellations with less than one months notice will not receive a
refund)

Camp Stewards Program
This new program is designed to cover costs of new projects and functions
that directly effect camp. This is not designed to be a replacement program
for FOS donations, but instead a group of donors that care so deeply about
camp that they want to be a part of making decisions for camps future.

Contributing members suggest camp improvement programs that
donations will be invested into
Top Suggestions that are approved by the board go up for voting once
a year
You get to vote on which projects your contributions will go towards
Annual Minimum Membership Donation…




Those 18 years of age and under…$25.00
Those 30 years of age and under…$50.00
Those over 30 years of age …$100.00
Troops, businesses, and other organizations…$500.00
100% of the funds raised through this program will go directly towards the
chosen projects. There will be and annual members dinner held at camp to
pass out membership certificates and discuss possible projects.
