W
e are a membership organization with
currently over 125 members. Our
membership is comprised of both displaying
artists and lovers of art who support the
gallery through their membership.
Since Art of the Lakes is also a volunteer
organization, volunteers serve as the Board
of Directors, officers and committee chairs.
In addition, display artists work in the
gallery throughout the year, and supporting
members volunteer when needed to keep
the gallery in good working order.
Art of the Lakes Association is a
Minnesota-based nonprofit corporation and
recognized by the United States Internal
Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt
organization. The corporate office is located at
108 Lake Avenue South, Battle Lake, Minnesota
56515. Donations made to the organization are
deductible to the extent allowable by law.

at Underwood and proceed north approximately 6.2 miles.
Take Hwy #1 to the north side of Ottertail Lake, and between the Potter Daughter and the Dead
River Bridge take the alley marked Camp Nidaros north past one cabin and an intersection. Just
past the intersection take the left Y and Jean’s sky blue cabin is right there by Walker Lake.

Some pieces are textured and etched from
nature, glazed with colors reflecting nature. Behm
also fires pieces in sawdust which is similar to
Native American and African firing. I will also

and acrylic/oil painting.

“Traditional Realism” describes my painting style.
From a distance all of my paintings look “real,”
but up close you will see an illusion of reality
created by using the compositional skills of color,
tone, line, value, and lighting to make the most of
the subjects in each painting.

I started carving decoys almost two years
ago. Although I do not spear fish myself, I
learned the basics from a long time carvers
in the area. It has become a challenging but
rewarding past time.

settled on a particular type of turning but
