The Source of this Collection
The collector, a Brooklynite, sometime museum curator and lifelong
bachelor, with a constant and wide-ranging pursuit of knowledge, was most
active after WW2 thru the 1960s. Most of the coins remain in his elegant
1930s Wayte Raymond and Hans Sergl holders.
All the coins are included in this sale, EXCEPT that German, Swiss and
Latin American coins will be offered in PART TWO, and we have sold
several countries’ coins in our previous auctions.
The gold coins came separately.
Consignments are solicited for
future auctions.

Lot 280 AH1211/1312. No regnal year. Base silver 20-Piastres. KM14.
Important unlisted variety. Nice VF
MB=$30 ($50-150)
►Shows regnal year 11 below the toughra, to the right. To the left, 12. Thus the widelyspaced date 12----11 shows, quite clearly. If it read 13---11, it would plausibly be a
dually-dated coin. The anomalous date AH1211 suggests battling regnal years. In few
coins series would either error (or redundancy) be less unexpected.

edgenicks and diebreaks, else brown AU. Exceptional! ($500-1000)
►Crowned arms / “fat” eagle. Surfaces fairly smooth and fairly glossy. Good Strike.
Nice brown color. The peripheral diebreaks are moderate for any of these large
