The substation shall be cellar type with cable cellar at the ground floor with sufficient height (Min. 10 feet clear from FFL to Beam bottom) for easy movements for men & small machinery. Inserts on ceiling shall be provided for cable tray support work / electrical lighting fittings fixing. The height of cellar may be decided on following factors. Clear man height shall be available from FFL to bottom most cable tray installed in cellar for easy movement of men. Though we may keep inserts in ceiling, steel columns from floor for cable tray support may be allowed, if required. 2. There shall be one stores cum maintenance room ( non A/C) (min. Size 4M X 4M ) at ground floor. Inserts on ceiling shall be provided for electrical lighting fittings fixing. Lifting beam with chain piiley block shall be provided to handle electrical equipment. Foundation of @ 500 L X 500 B X 500 H mm with adjustable base frame shall be made beneath lifting beam to facilitate no load trail of motors of various ratings. 3. Switchgear floor shall be available on first floor. The requirement of AC / Non AC area is indicated below. However, we have specified following in electrical design philosophy. a) Space between fronts of two 415V switch boards- 2.5 meters b) Space between rear of 415V switch board and wall (column edge)1.5 meters c) Space between two switch boards in a row- 1.5 meters 5. It will have provision of ‘I’ beam with lifting gear for panels with projected platform at one end & removable type railing, rolling shutters etc. If we keep size of loading platform as 2.0 meters them we may not have I beam with lifting arrangements. We shall load the panels with crane. 6. The Switch gear room shall have toilet facilities with full height first quality glazed tiles & spartek tile flooring in the entire toilet 7. Staircase at the both the ends of the buildings. One staircase shall be built up to terrace. 8. There shall be transformer yard with separating blast proof RCC walls, covering shed, oil drain pit depending on the capacities of the transformer, chain link fencing, proper gates, vicat gates, gravel packing, etc complete. The purling for shed shall be removable type so as to facilitate transformer lifting by crane. We may refer code to go for 355 mm thick brick wall instead of 240 mm thick RCC wall to reduce cost. 9. Clear space of 3.5 meters shall be available surrounding to Substation for substation earth pits & substation earth grid formation. 10. Approach road to substation loading platforms and transformer yard shall be design for crane movement. 11. Substations shall have minimum TWO doors in diagonally (preferably) / lengthwise opposite direction. Additional points1) Flooring in different area a. Switch board room, VFD room- Kotah stone b.
