fantastic event you don’t want to miss!
It is hard to believe that this year is almost
over. As I look back over 2013, I am proud
of the many improvements we were able to
accomplish for St Ives. Topping the list was
the major transition of our greens from Bent
grass to Bermuda grass, greatly improving year
round consistent playing conditions. This was
incredibly important to keep St Ives competitive
in the market place and also to continue in
maintaining our reputation as a “Premier
Country Club.”
No less important was the pool renovation that
included:
• Desperately needed increase in deck space
• Addition of a youth water park
• Addition of a second restroom facility
• A new Family Pavilion with ceiling fans, flat
screen TV’s, and electrical outlets for your
laptops
• An ”adults only” lounge area
• Increased green space
Again, from all of us at St Ives, we appreciate
everything you do as Members to make this a

Thank you very much to everyone who was part
of our Annual New Years celebration! It was a
beautiful event with the casino party and live
band back on the scene, and everyone had a great
time! We appreciate you sharing the evening with
us!
Again, I do want to thank our Members for
supporting the Club with your private parties in
December. We greatly appreciate your patronage
with your family and corporate events. It’s been
a great holiday season (although technically the
holidays aren’t over for me until Superbowl;
that’s when my tree comes down. Is that wrong??
LOL).
Here’s to 2014, and I hope that it’s your best year

favorite guy.
Dinner will include a fabulous adult and child-friendly
buffet and DJ Ricky will keep dads, daughters and
granddaughters entertained all evening. Each girl will
also receive a small gift to take home. A professional
photographer will be on site and photos will be available
for purchase.
This event promises father-daughter bonding and a night
your girls will treasure forever.

Always a great holiday tradition in every country club, the annual Easter spread will be unmatched in its wonderful and
lavish selection of foods. Bring your family and special guests to the club for this grand affair and let us take the worry out
of cooking.
In order to accommodate as many St Ives families as possible, parties of up to 4 people will have a seating-time duration
of an hour and a half and parties of 5 or more will have a seating-time duration of 2 hours. As a courtesy to your fellow
members, please arrive and depart promptly for your reservation.
The price for this special annual event is $32.00 for adults; $18.00 for children 8-11; $11.00 for children 4-7. Children 3
and under are complimentary.
Jackets are required for gentlemen 16 and older and ladies should be appropriately attired. Denim and athletic attire are
not permitted.

Come, join us! Let us entertain the kids in
the Kids’ Play Room while you sit back, relax,
and enjoy your evening at the Club! Or if you
prefer, feel free to dine with your kids in the
Main Dining Room first, and then let them
enjoy some free time in the Kids’ Play Room
after dinner.
The Kids’ Play Room features a kid friendly
buffet and the kids’ favorite, “make your own
sundae” station! It’s a delightful experience for
the entire family.

is traditionally a busier night at the Club.

the 2014 St Ives Golf Season!
It is with great excitement that we
look forward to playing on our
new greens this summer and our
Course being in fantastic shape.
The greens should continue to
improve as we get into a full growing season.
The tournament schedule has been planned and
we are looking forward to another great year. The
schedule was modified and we have spaced the
events out as much as possible. Enclosed you will
find a copy of the 2014 tournament schedule.

Shotguns in January & February
Tuesday - Thursday
In January and February will be have shotgun starts at
11:00am Tuesday - Thursday. For players who cannot
start at 11:00am, we will have regular tee times available
after 12:00pm. In the shotgun, players begin on #1
going backwards to #18, and depending on the size of
the field, the first tee will be available after the last group
in the shotgun completes #1.
Friday - Sunday
On the weekends during the months of January and
February the golf course will conduct shotgun starts.
Shotguns will be every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at
12:30pm. This will allow you to plan your weekends
more efficiently and not wait around for frozen greens to
thaw or frost to melt.
Golf Outings
It is never too early to start planning your company golf
outing at St Ives. Golf outings are an important revenue
source for the Club, so please call us with any referrals for
potential events that we could bring to St Ives.
Range Mats
During the months of January and February we will
be using the range mats every day. The rye grass grows
very little during these months and this will allow us to
provide you with nice turf to start the spring golf season.
Please hit all irons off the mats. You may tee up a driver
in the grass area.
Super Bowl Blitz Tournament
Saturday, February 1st
12:30pm Shotgun Start
$50.00 per person (includes light
hors d’oeuvres following golf, one
square on the Super Bowl Gaming
Board, and prizes). Four-person
scramble with men playing the blue tees and ladies
playing the red tees. If you are 65 years or older or have a
handicap of 15 or higher you may elect to play the white
tees.
Merchandise Corner Did you know?
The Golf Shop sells all brands of golf balls at the same
price as everyone! While we only display Titleist golf
balls we have access to all brands and are happy to order
a few dozen of your favorite brand. Please let us know
what your favorite brand is.

For the 2014 golf season we have modified our Guest Pass
to offer you more money saving options. Last year, you had
the ability to bring free guests in January and February due
to the renovation, so we have included this in our packages
for this year as well. The options are as follows:
The new Cost Plus+ VIP program has been well received
by many Members and is too good of a deal to pass up!
You too can become a member of the VIP Club from
now through November 30, 2014 for only $150.00 and
receive all of the following benefits:
• Annual Guest Pass: $600.00
This pass entitles you to purchase ten (10) prepaid guest
green fees and cart fees good for play Tuesdays - Fridays.
This is a potential savings of $400.00!
• Purchase all golf clubs at 20% over cost. At these
prices they will be cheaper than any discount store or
internet site! (Some manufacturers have minimum
advertising prices).
• Cost, plus 30% on everything in the Golf Shop all
year long.
• Special orders at cost plus 30%, plus shipping.
• Tournament credits are worth 25-30% more.
• Invitations to special sales for VIP Members only.
• VIP specials throughout the year.
• Winter Guest Pass: $250.00
This pass entitles you to bring up to three guests any
day of the week in the months of January and February
without paying a guest fee. Cart fees will apply for
each guest on day of play. There is no limit on the total
number of guests permitted over the two month period.
• Annual Guest Pass Plus Free Winter Guests: $750.00
A combination of the two packages, this pass entitles
you to unlimited guests in January and February (Cart
fees must be paid) and then 10 more guest and cart fees
for the rest of the year, Tuesdays - Fridays. (Limit 3
guests on any day. No Saturday or Sunday Guests.) We
will bill $400.00 in January and $350.00 in February on
your monthly membership statements.

• The purchase of the Guest Pass will be billed when you
sign up except as described for the $750 option.

Winter Lesson Package
• This offer is non-transferable and it cannot be carried

Schedule three lessons at regular price with the instructor

work on your game in the off-season.

Golf store has gone out of business. We wanted to take

a lot less inventory than a large retailer we carry all the

that we do not carry please ask a member of the staff if it
is an item that we would consider carrying. We will do

Play better tennis. Come out to the courts
with the St Ives Country Club tennis
coaches and learn to improve your shots.
What makes this a different clinic than
your team clinic? Your team clinic is
designed to work on player movement and
strategy. The Ladies Academy will focus on
technical skills to advance your level of play
in preparing for the spring ALTA season.
We will cover all tennis strokes including:
serving, ground strokes, volley’s and over
heads.
The cost to register for all four sessions is
$80.00 or pay as you attend for just $25.00
per session. Please register in advance.

Registration Information
Spring is just around the corner! If you or a member of your family
are interested in getting involved with ALTA Tennis, please contact
Creig Matthieson by email at [email protected] or
by phone in the Tennis Pro Shop at 770.418.2443. We look forward
to seeing many new Members on the Courts in 2014! If you are a
new Member or an existing Member who is not participating on an
ATLA Team and would like to play, contact the Tennis Shop for a
hitting session with one of our coaches to assess your level of play.
The Tennis Staff will assist you on joining a Team.

With the USTA season coming to a close, and
the Spring ALTA season being right around the
corner, stop in the Pro Shop and check out the
great selection of rackets from Babolat. For a
solid all-around racquet, try the Babolat Pure
Drive and Pure Drive 107, both give you a
slightly larger head size, providing you with a
bigger sweet spot.
For our up and coming juniors, we also carry
both the 25 and 26 inch Babolat Pure Drive
and Aero Pro Drive, either will excite your
inspiring junior player.
The Tennis Shop is pleased to provide our
Members with a great selection of apparel for
our ladies from Jamie Saddock. Her spring
colors are vibrant and fun providing you with
Capri pants to keep you warm during the cooler
weather and fun skirts for when the weather
begins to change.
We also stock apparel from Tail, Nike and
Adidas, if we do not have your size in stock, it
will be our pleasure to special order any item.
Warmer weather is approaching and although
there may still be a crisp feeling in the air on the
morning of your ALTA match, get warm with
St Ives Logo wear for both Men and Women.
Adult Davis Cup
Saturday, January 11th
6:30pm - 10:30pm
Members will be drafted into 4 Teams: Team France, Team USA, Team
Australia, Team England.
Teams will consist of five members or, if needed, guests. Each team will
have a Tennis Professional as a captain of the team. (Creig Matthieson,
Stuart Marcus, Davis Dawson or Kay Ree Lee)
The cost is $18.00 per player and includes Chef Eric’s Italian buffet after
tennis.
There will be a player pool that will cost $20.00 per person to participate.
Cash prizes will be awarded to the winning team and their names will be
engraved on the Davis Cup trophy.

CLINICS CONCLUDE THE
WEEK OF DECEMBER 16TH.
The 2013 Junior Tennis year was an extremely successful
year. St Ives produced 2 City Finalist and 5 Division
Winners in USTA and ALTA league play. The St Ives
Juniors placed 2nd in the Directors Cup and numerous
juniors improved their state rankings and won state
sanctioned tournaments. In 2014 we will keep on
pushing forward with the training program to keep the
titles at St Ives. 2014 will be packed with many events,
league play, and tournaments.
The 2014 USTA junior winter season kicks off Saturday,
January 11th 1pm. Good luck to all junior teams this
winter season, play hard and dress warm.
With this colder weather it is hard to think about Spring
ALTA, but if you would like your child to play in the
upcoming spring 2014 ALTA season, please register at
the Tennis Pro Shop. The registration deadline for the
spring 2014 season is Monday, January 20th.

The weather started off wet, but overall, we couldn’t have asked for better
weather for the 4th annual Junior Directors Cup. After all scores were
totaled, St Ives finished in 2nd place of the 2013 Directors Cup.
The St Ives Juniors Boys finished 2nd in the boys’ division and the St
Ives Girls finished 1st in their division but the overall team finished a few
games out of first place.

This year there was a seven team field which included Standard Club,
Medlock Bridge, Country Club of Roswell, Dunwoody Country Club,
Falls of Autry Mill, and TPC @ Sugarloaf.
