Better Living for Texans (BLT): The Oldham County Extension Office has been helping out with
the monthly mobile food box distribution. Each month when Oldham County has their food
distribution a handout is prepared for each recipient that includes a food tip and a healthy,
affordable recipe.
4-H and Youth Development
Oldham County Stock Show: At the Oldham County Stock Show, Oldham County 4-H’ers
Dominated in almost every area, taking home Champion and Reserve Steer, Champion and
Reserve Heifer, Reserve Market Lamb, Reserve Market Goat, and Champion Hog. This does
not account for the innumerable breed and class winners throughout the show. Also, during
the Oldham County Stock Show, Oldham County 4-Hers were responsible for preparing and
serving food to customers who visited the concession stand. All profits from the concession
stand go towards paying contest entry fees for all Oldham County 4-H’ers.
Fort Worth Stock Show: For some exhibitors in Oldham County, the county stock show is just
the beginning of a long show season all over the state. The beginning of the State Major
Shows is the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo held at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in
Fort Worth, TX. The following list shows the participants and their respective results:

San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo: Recently, the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo has
hosted a trap shoot titled the “Junior Shoot-Out” before the market animal week. This year,
Oldham County was very well represented by Walker Voyles, Mitch Montgomery, Billy Lookingbill, and Chase Lemons. All four young men shot close to or a set a new personal record.
Chase Lemons shot a perfect 100 and was awarded Top Prize which consisted of a $10,000
scholarship.
During the market animal show, Oldham County was represented by the following young people:
Lani Wright—1st Place Spotted Poland China Barrow
Blake Schulte—4th Place Poland China Barrow
Stock Martin—9th Place AOB Steer
Additional participants included Payden Mason, Shay Clements, and Spencer

Oldham County
San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo: The San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo also
hosts a Junior Skeet and Trap Shoot during the festivities. This year, Oldham County was
represented by Matt Montgomery, Chase Lemons, Zack Paetzold, and Nikolas Paetzold.
All shooters were extremely competitive, with Chase Lemons taking home 2 nd place honors!
During the Star of Texas Gilt Show and Sale, Oldham County 4-H was represented by 2 exhibitors and 6
Gilt Projects. Macy Gilley exhibited 3 gilt projects, driving her Yorkshire Gilt to a 5 th Place Finish. Shay
and Spencer Clements also represented Olhdam County 4-H during the Gilt Show.
Shortly after the gilt show starts the barrow and steer shows. This year, Oldham County 4-H was represented by Spencer and Shay Clements, Lani Wright, and Stock Martin. Spencer exhibited an 8 th place
Yorkshire Barrow, Lani had a 6th Place Cross and Duroc Barrow, and Stock Martin rounded out with a
3rd Place Exotic Steer.

Houston Livestock Show: To round out the Stock Show year, Oldham County 4-Hers competed in various events at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. We were represented by
Chase Lemons and Matt Montgomery at the HLSR Ranching and Wildlife Young Guns Sporting
Clays Shoot.
During the Livestock portion, the following young people represented Oldham County 4-H:

All in all, it was a great stock show season for the Oldham County 4-H program and more importantly for the young people fortunate enough to have the opportunity to exhibit their successful livestock programs throughout the state.

Community Service: This quarter, the Lucky Clover 4-H Club conducted
a coat drive. Club members as well as community members were asked
to donate gently used coats. The club donated 35 coats to the Eveline
Rivers Project. The club also collected paper goods for Ronald McDonald House.
