Introduction
Designed to facilitate installers work, this range
of electrical cabinet is intended for use in cold
rooms working at positive or negative
temperatures and powered either with single
phase or three phase power supply.
Based on specifically designed controllers, it
incorporates all control functions as required by
modern cold room units, such as compressor
control, defrost management, fan management,
alarm function and solenoid valve for “pump
down”.
It also includes all the safety equipment needed
such as circuit breakers for the compressor and
for the controller.
Particular attention has been given to the
accessibility so that the installation time will be
reduced to a minimum. Space has been left
available for customisation.

General features
Controller
Contactor
Based on the field proven MR family of
controllers, it integrates specific features
required in cold rooms.
A VDR protection across the coil extends the life
of the controller relays. The contactor, being four
(4) poles, allows you to customise the cabinet to
your application. This additional contact could be
used to drive a condensing fan (up to 3 Amps) or
for signalling its operation.

Sensor
The CR series uses Johnson Controls A99
temperature sensor. Its accuracy, ± 0.5 K over a
range from -20ºC to 75ºC, and its gas tight
packaging makes it the best sensor for
refrigeration applications.
For details please refer to A99 documentation.
Selected for use in AC-3 category: three-phase
motor with cage with a nominal speed of 1500
rpm.
Cabinet
Thanks to a specifically designed MR, there is
sufficient space in the cabinet in order to extend
your application.
Wiring is easily accessible.
The high protection level (IP65) allows you to
install this cabinet in harsh environment such as
outdoors. The polycarbonate material has a high
shock resistance, which could be necessary
during handling or at installation.
The class 2
insulation gives you the safety
required by all agencies.
Circuit Breaker for motor
(Three phase models only)
Selected for its high protection against short
circuit, it features phase disconnection, thermal
protection and manual On/Off. The adjusted
protection value is independent of temperature
condition inside your cabinet.

Circuit Breaker for controller, defrost
and fans
Specifically selected for virtually all applications it
features a high protection and an appropriate
magneto-thermal characteristic in function of the
application.

These controllers are designed for use as an
operating control. When an operating control
failure would result in personal injury or loss of
property, it is the responsibility of the installer to
wire a separate backup control (e.g. a freeze
protection thermostat) in order not to use the
controller as an operating and safety device.

Defrost functions
Condensing fan
Defrost is initiated and terminated by a timer. The
user sets the interval between successive cycles and
its duration.
On the 3-phase models, two terminals are
available to field connect a condensing fan.
During the defrost cycle, the display can show
either the last measurement before this cycle or
the setpoint. You can also delay the normal
display function after the defrost cycle has
ended.
Digital input functions
All defrost controllers are equipped with a digital
input performing the following functions:
•
Shut-OFF: If the contact is open for a preset
time, all outputs are de-energised and an
alarm message is displayed.
Fan management functions
•
You can choose whether the fan is to be run in
parallel with the compressor or whether it should
remain constantly ON. In this case the fan will be
ON during defrost. This will decrease defrosting
duration.
External alarm: Display shows AL, the Alarm
output is switched ON, all other functions will
perform as normal
•
Door open: In this case the High alarm will
be disabled, other functions will perform as
normal.
Manual defrost is possible by pushing a key on the
controller keypad.

Digital input functions
This control is equipped with two sensors, one for the
control of the refrigeration unit, the other senses the
evaporator temperature.
All defrost controllers are equipped with an
additional digital input which can be configured to
perform the following functions:
• “Shut-OFF” function.
• External alarm function.
• “Door open” function.
Defrost functions
Defrost cycle is initiated by a timer and
terminated either by temperature or time,
whichever comes first.
Pump down selection
The defrost function includes the following
parameters:
A selector is available to choose between the
start stop strategy for the compressor
• Type of defrosts (Hot gas or electrical heating).
• Interval time to adjust defrost frequency.
• Type of defrosts termination: time or temperature.
• Defrost end temperature.
• Maximum defrosts duration.
You can stop the compressor for an additional
configurable period called dripping time. This will
allow the evaporator to dry prior to resuming normal
operation.

In case of evaporator sensor failure, defrosts
cycle will be terminated by the maximum defrost
duration.
During defrost the display can be configured to show the
last measurement before defrost or the setpoint.
Fan management functions
Through the controller, you can choose whether
the fan is to be run in parallel to the compressor
or constantly ON. In any case the fan is switched
OFF during defrost.
After defrost, the fan can resume its work after a
preset time or after the evaporator temperature
has dropped below a user-settable temperature.
Condensing fan or door frame heater
On the 3-phase models, two terminals are
available to field connect a condensing fan or a
door frame heater to avoid the cell door sticking.

Description of each parameter
Ad
Alarm differential:
Useful to avoid alarm oscillations.
For example:
Setpoint = 4ºC,
Max. Temperature alarm = 6 K,
Alarm differential = 2 K.
In this case, when the cold room temperature
exceeds 4+6 = 10ºC for a time greater than
parameter At the alarm is activated; when
temperature drops below 4+6-2 = 8ºC the alarm
is reset

Alarm time delay:
Delay between the detection of the temperature
alarm and the activation of the alarm sequences.
This is useful to prevent temporary conditions
from causing an alarm. Furthermore, the
controller automatically ignores the temperature
alarm condition in the following cases:
for 20 minutes after the power-ON
during defrost and for 20 minutes after the
defrost-end.

Select the type of your installation and the way
defrost is performed
0 = Electrical defrost (Compressor OFF)
1 = Hot gas defrost (Compressor ON)

Select the defrost termination type:
0 = timer based, set with parameter dd
In this case the evaporator sensor is not
required and the fan will restart base on time.

is defined as the relay cut OFF.

Hysteresis
This is the difference between the temperature
at which the compressor output is switched OFF
and the temperature at which the output is
switched ON. This is an absolute value, related
to the setpoint.
Example:
Cooling Setpoint = 4 ºC
Differential = 2 K.
The compressor is switched
ON when the temperature
goes over 6 ºC, and is turned
OFF when the temperature
decreases to 4 ºC.

the limits defined by these parameters, to avoid
improper setpoint setting by the user.

Anti short cycle protection
This parameter prevents the compressor from
being turned ON / OFF too often. The value that
you set is the minimum time between two
subsequent switches ON of the output.

Used only when parameter dE =1. When the
evaporator temperature reaches this value,
defrost automatically ends.

Deep freezing time
This is the time for which the compressor is
forced ON when pressing the deep freezing
cycle key from the faceplate.

High temperature alarm:
High temperature alarm value relative to
setpoint. If your set point is at 4ºC and you want
an alarm 5 K above setpoint, it will be triggered
at 9ºC.

Low temperature alarm:
Low temperature alarm value relative to setpoint.
If your set point is at 4ºC and you want an alarm
3 K below setpoint, it will be triggered at 1ºC.

Defrost interval time:
This is the time between two subsequent defrost
cycles. This timer will initiate every defrost cycle.

Maximum defrost duration:
If defrost end by time has been selected
(parameter dE=1) defrost cycle will stop after this
time, even if the end temperature has not
reached parameter dt.
When defrost interval time is 1 hour, the
maximum duration is limited to 40 min.

Dripping time:
After defrost is terminated, the compressor is
stopped to allow the evaporator to drip.

First defrost cycle after power-on:
This parameter allows to delay a defrost cycle,
after power-up. This will prevent a cycle from
occurring before the cold room has reached its
operation temperature.
When set to ‘OFF’, the first defrost will occur
after a complete defrost interval (parameter di)

Display during defrosts:
You can select what to display during the defrost
cycle. This is meant to avoid misleading users
during the defrost cycle.
0 = last measured value before defrost cycle

Delay displayed temperature after defrost
During defrost cycles the ambient temperature is
not displayed (see parameter dP). The actual
temperature returns to display when its value
reaches the setpoint value or, in any case, after
the time defined by this parameter.

Digital input function:
The digital input (normally closed) can be
configured according to the plant requirements:
0= the DI is not connected
1= If the contact is open for a time longer than that
set through parameter id, the plant is switched
OFF and an alarm message is displayed; this
can be used for condenser alarm...
2= Alarm function: in this case an alarm message
is displayed and the alarm digital output is
switched ON
3= Open door in the cold room. When the contact
is open, the fan is switched OFF (when
applicable) and if the contact is open for more
than the time set through parameter id an alarm
message is displayed and the alarm output is
switched ON. High and low alarms are disabled.

In this mode, the controller will calculate the
average time the compressor was ON for the
last 4 cycles, and the compressor will run
accordingly. If a deep freezing cycle or a defrost
cycle occurred, they will not be taken into
account nor will the first cycle afterwards.
So
Offset thermostat sensor:
This value is added to or subtracted from the
measured value to compensate for possible field
measurement offset errors. To compensate for
extra long copper cabling use the following
formula:

The connection for an HP/LP pressure switch such as P78LCA-9300 is provided
into the cabinet. When such a pressure switch is to be used, connect the HP and
LP switch in series to connector 21 and 22 (on the P78LCA-9300 connect 21 to A
and 22 to C). When not used connect the shunt between 21 and 22.

Each cabinet is provided with a selector switch to choose between an operation
with pump down and an operation without pump down. The devices are factory set
without pump down operation. In order to operate in pump down mode:
•
Remove the shunt between 21 and 22, and connect a low-pressure switch
(such as P77AAA-9300) between 21 and 22 (on the P77AAA-9300, connect
A to 21 and C to 22).
•
Change the position of the selector switch.

For all negative application, see the controller’s installation documentation for
proper setting of the fan function. For all positive application, you can select the
function of the fan using the selector switch on the upper part of the controller.
The fan has two operation mode:
•
Parallel to the compressor
•
Continuous. In this case the relay will be energized when powering up the
control and will always remain energized even during defrost cycle.

2 Wiring

All wiring should conform to local codes and must be carried out by authorized
personnel only. Strong RFI can influence or damage the control. Keep high and
low voltage wiring separated. For applications in critical industrial environments
use a shielded sensor cable. Connect one side of the shield to earth (ground).
Earth terminals have been added in order to ensure ground continuity,
nevertheless, grounding is not provided by these terminals and it should be
properly connected while installing the cabinet. These cabinets include
components powered in low voltage. Make sure the power supply is properly
disconnected prior to opening the cabinet. Be careful, it may require to disconnect
several circuit to perform a full disconnection.

être réalisés que par du personnel qualifié. De fortes interférences électromagnétiques (RFI) peuvent perturber où endommager le fonctionnement de
l'appareil. Séparer les câbles de puissances des câbles de mesure. Les
bornes de terre ont été ajouter afin d’assurer la continuité de la terre,
cependant la mise à la terre n’est pas réalisée par ce bornier et doit être
éffectuée à l’extérieur du coffret. Les composants de ces coffrets sont
alimentés en basse tension. L’alimentation doit être déconneter avant
d’ouvrir le coffret. Attention, il peut être nécessaire de déconnecter plusieurs

Entsprechend der Norm EN 60439 handelt es sich bei den Elektronischen
Kältesteuerungen um eine Schalt- und Regelbaugruppe für niedrige Spannung, gebräuchlich für Wandmontage. Diese Baugruppe ist für den Einsatz
unter normal verschmutzten Umgebungsbedingungen geeignet, die eine
Schadstoffbelastung von 2 Grad nicht übersteigt. Die Installation muß den
Vorschriften der örtlichen Energieversorgungsunternehmen entsprechen.

con sistemas puestos a tierra.

Auf der Hutschiene sind Klemmen zur Unterbrechung des Steuerstromkreises eingebaut.
Die Anschlußklemmen 21 und 22 sind mit den Komponenten der Steuerkette in Reihe zu legen, um damit das Verdichterschütz zu steuern. Zum optimalen Schutz gegen Über- oder Unterdruck sind Druckschalter aus dem
Hause JOHNSON CONTROLS der Baureihe P77 oder P78 zu wählen und
entsprechend zu verdrahten.
Sollte die Kälteanlage gemäß UVV20(VGB20) eigensicher sein, so ist die
beiliegende Kabelbrücke zu verwenden.
In de kast zit een aansluiting voor een HP/BP-drukschakelaar, bijv. type P78LCA9300. Wilt u een dergelijke drukschakelaar gebruiken, sluit de HD- en LDschakelaar in serie aan op de aansluitingen 21 en 22 (voor de P78LCA-9300

en 22 als er geen drukschakelaar gebruikt word.

volgt om "pump down" in te schakelen:

entregan de fábrica con el ajuste de trabajo sin bombeo. Para poner en
funcionamiento en modo bombeo:

overdruktoepassingen de ventilator in met behulp van de keuzeschakelaar aan de
bovenzijde van de regelaar.
De ventilator heeft twee instellingen:

Continu. In dit geval zal het relais inschakelen bij het starten van de regelaar
en zal continu ingeschakeld blijven dus zelfs tijdens de ontdooicyclus.

Die Einstellung der Verdampferlüftersteuerung bei Steuerungen fürTiefkühlanwendungen mit Kühlstellenregler MR15 sind der beiliegenden Bedienungsanleitung des Reglers zu entnehmen.Die Einstellung der Verdampferlüftersteuerung bei Steuerungen für Kühlraumanwendungen mit Kühlstellenregler MR 12 sind wie folgt auszuführen. Es besteht die Auswahlmöglichkeit,
den Verdampferlüfter parallel mit dem Verdichter oder ständig in Betrieb
laufen zu lassen.Hierbei ist zu beachten, daß das Lüfterrelais anzieht, wenn
die Spannungsversorgung eingeschaltet wird, und auch während des Abtauvorganges aktiv ist. Dazu ist die Jumperstellung wie folgt vorzunehmen.

Funktionen des Reglers
Zur Einstellung des Kühlstellenreglers und dessen Parameter ist die
beiliegende Bedienungsanleitung des Kühlstellenreglers zu verwenden.
2. Verdrahtung
Achtung : Die integrierten IC´s in den Modulen sind - wie alle elektronischen
Bauteile - empfindlich gegen statische Entladungen. Hier sind bauseits
entsprechende Vorsichtsmaßnahmen zu treffen.Die gesamte Verdrahtung
muß den Vorschriften der örtlichen Energieversorungsunternehemen entsprechen und darf nur von autorisiertem Personal durchgeführt werden.
Durch starke elektromagnetische Störungen könnte der Regler beschädigt
werden. Hoch - und Niederspannungsverdrahtungen sind voneinander
getrennt zu verlegen. Die Seonsorkabel sind bei Anwendungen in Umgebungen mit hohen magnetischen Feldstärken als abgeschirmte Kabel zu verlegen. Hierbei ist eine Seite der Schirmung auf die Erdklemme aufzulegen.
2 Bedrading
Alle bedrading moet aan plaatselijke codes voldoen en mag alleen worden
uitgevoerd door bevoegd personeel. Elektromagnetische storingen kunnen de
regelaar beïnvloeden of beschadigen. Houd de hoog- en laagspanningsbedrading
uit elkaar. Maak voor toepassingen in kritieke industriële omgevingen gebruik van
een afgeschermde sensorkabel. Verbind één kant van de afscherming met de
aarde (grond). Als een 12 of 24V voeding is aangesloten aan het voedingsnet,
dient een veiligheids-transformator te worden gebruikt of een omvormer met
afzonderlijke wikkelingen die net zoveel isolatie heeft. Er zijn aardklemmen
toegevoegd om een goede aardaansluiting te waarborgen. Echter de aarde is niet
verbonden met deze klemmen, dit dient de worden gedaan bij het bedraden van
de schakelkast. Deze schakelkast bevat onderdelen welk met de voedingsspanning zijn verbonden. Schakel de voedingsspanning af voordat de schakelkast
wordt geopend. Let op! Het kan nodig zijn om meerdere circuits af te schakelen
om de schakelkast volledig spanningsloos te maken.
2 Cableado
Todo el cableado debe cumplir las normativas locales y debe realizarse
exclusivamente para personal autorizado. Las emisiones de radiofrecuencia
fuertes pueden influir o dañar el control. Se deben mantener los cables de
alta y baja tensión separados. En el caso de aplicaciones en entornos
industriales críticos debe utilizarse un cable de sensor blindado. Conéctese
un extremo del blindaje a tierra.

I enlighet med EN 60439-1 är det elektriska skåpet CR en
lågspänningsomkopplare och kontroller av den testade typen, lämplig för
upphängning på vägg. Det är lämpligt för användning utomhus med
föroreningsgrad 2. Det är avsett för installation med jordade system.
I henhold til EN 60439-1 er elskabet CR en koblings- og

Anslutning för en HP/LP tryckvakt av typen P78LCA-9300 finns till skåpet. Då
sådan tryckvakt används, anslut HP- och LP-tryckvakten till anslutningsdonen
21 och 22 (på P78LCA-9300 ansluts 21 till A och 22 till C). Då sådan inte
används, ansluts medföljande shunt mellan 21 och 22.
En HT/LT-trykafbryder som f.eks. P78LCA-9300 kan tilsluttes på kabinettet. Hvis
en sådan trykafbryder skal bruges, tilsluttes HT- og LT-afbryderen i serie til stik 21
og 22 (på P78LCA-9300 tilsluttes 21 til A og 22 til C). Hvis afbryderen ikke bruges,
skal den medleverede shunt tilsluttes mellem 21 og 22.

Alla skåp har en valomkopplare för val mellan drift med ”pump down” och drift
utan pump. Enheterna är fabriksinställda på drift utan ”pump down”. För drift i
”pump down” läge:
•
Ta bort parallellkopplingen mellan 21 och 22 och koppla en
lågtrycksomkopplare (t ex P77AAA-9300) mellan 21 och 22 (koppla A till
21 och C till 22 på P77AAA-9300).
•
Ändra valomkopplarens inställning.
Hvert kabinet er forsynet med en omskifter, så der kan vælges mellem en funktion
med "pump down" ("udpumpning") og en funktion uden "pump down".
Anordningerne er fabriksindstillede uden "pump down" funktion. For funktion i
"pump down" tilstand:

För all negativ funktion, se installationsinstruktionerna för regulatorn för korrekt
inställning av fläktfunktionen. För all positiv tillämpning väljer du fläktfunktion
med valomkopplaren på regulatorns övre del.
Fläkten har två driftlägen:
•
Parallell med kompressorn
•
Kontinuerlig. I denna situation slår reläet till när regulatorn aktiveras och
förblir aktiv även under avfrostningscykeln.
For al negativ anvendelse, se regulatorens installationsdokumentation for korrekt
indstilling af ventilatorens funktion. For al positiv anvendelse, kan ventilatorens
funktion vælges med anvendelse af omskifterne på regulatorens øverste del.
Ventilatoren har to operationstilstande:
•
Parallel med kompressoren.
•
Konstant. I denne funktion aktiveres relæet, når der tændes for regulatoren,
og den vil altid forblive aktiveret selv under afisningscyklus.
Katso tuuletustoiminnon oikeat asetukset säätimen asennuksen dokumentaatiosta
kaikissa negatiivisissa sovelluksissa. Kaikissa positiivisissa sovelluksissa voit
valita tuulettimen toiminnon säätimen yläosassa olevalla valintakytkimellä.

All kabeldragning ska utföras enligt gällande bestämmelser och får endast
utföras av behörig personal. Stark RFI kan inverka på eller skada styrenheten.
Håll kablar för hög respektive lågspänning väl separerade. Använd skärmad
kabel i tuffa miljöer där det finns risk för störningar. Anslut ena sidan till jord,
rekommenderbart är vid styrenhetens sida. När en 12, 24V transformator
ansluts till nätspänning eller högre spänning ska detta utföras med en isolerad
transformator eller omvandlare med separata lindningar som ger samma
skydd.
Alle ledningsføringer skal overholde lokale regler og må kun foretages af
autoriseret personale. Kraftige radiofrekvente forstyrrelser kan påvirke eller
beskadige styringen. Hold høj- og lavspændingsledninger adskilt. Ved brug i
industrielle miljøer, der kan skabe problemer, skal der anvendes et skærmet
sensorkabel. Tilslut den ene side af skærmen til jord. Hvis der tilsluttes et 12, 24 V
strømforsyningsmodul til strømnettet eller højspænding, skal det ske via en
isolerende sikkerhedstransformer eller en omformer med adskilte viklinger, der
