MEDIA KIT 1 - 3 SEPTEMBER 2015 VISION MEETS TRADITION Traditional looks gain new significance by innovative technologies MUNICH FABRCI START opens a promising season Autumn.Winter 16/17 under the sujet REFUTURE, where history and future are united. First among the international fabric trade fairs, MUNICH FABRIC START will be kicking off the 2016/17 Autumn.Winter season from 1 to 3 September 2015. For the first time almost 1000 international suppliers from 36 countries will come to Munich to present a distinguished portfolio more than 1,600 collections. On show will be the latest developments and innovations in apparel fabrics and findings, plus dressing, finishing and technology from well-established manufacturers, weavers, printers and textile service providers. Continuously raising the bar on inspiration, information and innovation, MUNICH FABRIC START has positioned itself as the leading trade show for textiles and accessories. Each season the rigorously selected portfolio draws around 20,000 visitors to Munich from across Europe, including buyers and designers for the most influential retailers and fashion brands. They use the strategically early date to gain a comprehensive overview and a significant knowledge lead in the creation of their collections. Almost 1000 manufacturers of fabrics and additionals REFUTURE – VISION MEETS TRADITION REFUTURE unites history and future; traditional and visionary techniques are equally important. Colorful retro influences of the 70s meet profound Gothic looks, advanced and functional technologies meet deep authenticity. Interest in artisanal looking fabrics and the fascination of the new, reason in exciting, atypical material mixtures. Rustic materials meet technical qualities and earthen progressive looks with familiar naturalness. Hapticly attractive, shiny or patterned surfaces look new and noble in discolored, subtle and tonal colors. Organic inspired prints act as a tribute to nature, futuristic patterns are the sharp and jagged counterpart. Abstract motifs, distortions and modifications continue to dominate the print sector, while loud 70s motifs and technical sparkle get attention as the bold eyecatcher of the season.´ “Where Science meets Magic” - BLUEZONE again fully booked Additionals section at organicselection extended once again // 3 // SCIENCE MEETS MAGIC AT THE BLUEZONE The latest denim and sportswear developments and finishes will be on display at the BLUEZONE, which will be staged in the unique ambiance of the adjacent Zenith Hall. Held on 1 and 2 September 2015, the show-in-show at MUNICH FABRIC START continues to enjoy extremely strong demand and offers the denim and sportswear community an optimal setting for work that’s both productive and creative. Running under the heading of SCIENCE MEETS MAGIC, the Autumn. Winter 16/17 BLUEZONE will again feature a lineup of about 80 international denim weavers, finishers and washers. Leading brands such as Candiani SpA, Isko, Orta Anadolu, Tejidos Royo, Calik and Lanificio Europa SNC will be joined by notable newcomers like: Prosperity Textile, Kuroki, Azgard Nine, Advance Denim and Intex, to name just a few. Science and magic collide in the progressive inspiration field of denim trends. Hightech materials with a high degree of functionality, super stretch and extreme surface treatments demonstrate the latest technical possibilities. Versatile bleaching and dyeing techniques seem magical and random, they give denim a spherical aura with cloud- or star-like finishes. Frayed edges, couture constructions and sportswear details are setting the tone for shapes and patterns. The Paris-based trend & design studio Monsieur-T will be present again with inspiring insights into the latest innovations and directions at the BLUEZONE stage. Monsieur T. operates internationally as a brand design and market evaluation consultancy and delivers tailored analyses. Tintes Egara will give live performances at the outdoor area to present impressive batik and dyeing processes. Completing the BLUEZONE portfolio are denim-related products such as flats, corduroy, mill-washed fabrics, accessories and the latest innovations for resource friendly finishes. // 5 // ECO VILLAGE AND ORGANICSELECTION The selection of sustainable and ecologically certified fabrics out of a portfolio from almost 1000 international fabric and additionals manufacturers – this is the approach the organicselection follows every season at MUNICH FABRIC START. And herewith gives the answer to the current market needs for information and sourcing opportunities of modern eco fabrics. The success of organicselection has proved that sustainability is essential and gives directions. However, not only are presented modern eco fabrics but as well accessories since a few seasons. Since accessories and findings also require inspection and certification for confirming the sustainability of the complete finished product, certified sustainable additionals will be presented here in a pooled manner. After all, unlike with textiles there are hardly any independent schemes for verifying these requirements for accessories. The Additionals area of the organicselection has again been expanded and for the first time features laces, trims and motifs made of GOTS-certified cotton. Sustainability Expert and Sourcing Platform The ECO VILLAGE is MUNICH FABRIC START’s competence centre for the global sustainability theme and serves as a platform for certification bodies, consultants and non-profit organisations dealing with eco and natural materials as well as ecologically oriented corporate strategies. A total of 9 partners will be onsite this season, to answer all questions regarding Eco Fabrics and sustainable textile production. GOTS, IVN, IMO, OEKO-TEX, Fair Wear Foundation, Ceres and bluesign technologies will be joined this time by BCI (Better Cotton Initiative) and Lenzing. There are again two presentation venues – the ECO TALK, featuring all lectures and workshops on sustainability, in Room K4 | Foyer Hall. And the TRENDSEMINARS, featuring all trend lectures, in Room K2 | Foyer Hall 1. Added Benefit By the Way BLUEZONE, the Denim & Sportswear area, also dedicates a special exhibition area to sustainability issues in the textile industry. In the GREENZONE you may find the sustainable innovations of the BLUEZONE exhibitors. Innovative Online Sourcing Platform For Eco Fabrics The complete portfolio organicselection is also available online – almost 600 certified fabrics are available on this unique portal. With this move MUNICH FABRIC START has responded to the need for a sustainable textiles sourcing platform available long term and now offers an easy way to source eco fabrics 365 days per year. www.organic-selection.com This time on site: The labels of the fabrics presented at organicselection are additionally tagged with a QR code that directly links to the product page of the specific fabric. Just scan the QR code of the required fabric and you will be linked quick and easily to all technical specifications. www.bettercotton.org www.bettercotton.org // 7 // PRESS SERVICES Media representatives are warmly welcome at MUNICH FABRIC START. Its service and top notch supporting programme give this show its special edge. A major advantage of MUNICH FABRIC START is its location making it possible for every member of our team to come here on a day trip. The line-up of exhibitors is extensive even if by comparison we only visit a small number of suppliers in the clothing segment. We use the trade show to fine tune and finalise the concepts developed for us with suppliers. We observe the trends and the mainstream here and hold talks with agencies.” “MUNICH FABRIC START follows on seamlessly from the medium/high-end ranges already presented at VIEW. New developments pick up on the latest trends and translate these for the further delivery dates of the main collections or second lines of the new season. For our customers MUNICH FABRIC START has also gained importance from season to season. Progressively anticipatory season cycles increasingly underline the right timing of MUNICH FABRIC START. Compared with other international fairs this trade show offers our customers shorter distances and lower costs.” “For our company MUNICH FABRIC START has become a key communication platform. Our international business partners use MUNICH FABRIC START together with us to research the key product trends. MFS is favourably timed for this, especially for fast-developing, innovative brand concepts. We also appreciate the ever successful blend of professional range and relaxed working atmosphere.” “For Pierre Cardin menswear MUNICH FABRIC START is the most important show as it is currently the first fair where most suppliers showcase not just excerpts or a pre-collection but, for the first time, their whole collection. This applies both to face fabrics and findings. Due to its early date MUNICH FABRIC START has high and constantly rising standing within Europe. As well as its quality exhibitors and early dates, we also particularly appreciate the really great organisation of the trade fair.” Thomas Geiger, Textilagentur Geiger: “MUNICH FABRIC START follows on seamlessly from the medium/high-end ranges already presented at VIEW. Compared with other international fairs this trade show offers our customers shorter distances and lower costs.” Arianna Morimando, Berto E.G: “The increasing number of fairs dedicated to the denim sector is clear testimony to the particular attention that the fashion business, and not only, is paying towards this sector. As for our German business, BLUEZONE is definitely the most important exhibition. It is the second event in our trade fair schedule, where we go with the new collection. First our customers come to Denim by, but they start placing orders in Munich. This show allows us to have the first real and tangible feedback on our work.” // 29 // CHRONOLOGY 2015 2013 2011 2006 The current MUNICH FABRIC START from 1 to 3 September 2015 again cracks the record number of exhibitors and starts into the new season with an array of almost 1,000 international exhibitors from 36 countries.
