master sand sculptors!
Beach, Florida where her work can be seen
beach side at Ocean Walk Shoppes in the
winter.
Over the last decade she has been working
with organizers on many sand sculpting
contests usually serving as a coordinator
and sculptor liaison.
Suzanne Altamare
Suzanne Altamare began sculpting sand
for a living in 1982 as Marc Altamare’s
sand slave and apprentice. She loves
carving compaction but is best known for
soft sand sculptures. She lives in Daytona
Favorite things are carving flowing or
technical sculptures from octopi to
antique motorcycles. Favorite things
are gardening, boogie boarding, cats,
and creating permanent art work in clay,
styrofoam, plaster, paint, cement and
photographs.

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
Greg is a self-taught artist and a 2nd
generation sand sculptor who is a veteran
of the Marine Corp. An ephemeral artist;
he works with sand, snow, ice, wood
and pumpkins. Greg developed his love
for sand sculpture as a child creating
sculptures with his father. Greg traveled
every chance he got with his father to
professional sand sculpture events for
the opportunity to play in some of the
biggest and best sand boxes any kid could
imagine. Today, Greg’s childhood dreams
are a reality with a career creating sand
sculptures at events around the globe.
His travels have taken him throughout the
U.S, Canada, Europe, Japan, Kuwait, Virgin
Islands and so on.
Greg expanded his professional sand
sculpture business into organizing
contests, exhibitions, promotional events,
and team building workshops. He and his
father Greg Sr. are currently the driving
force behind two renowned events; the
Hampton Beach Master Sand Sculpting
competition in New Hampshire and the
Yarmouth Summer Celebration Kick Off
which is the longest sand sculpture trail in
the world on Cape Cod Massachusetts.
Carl jara
You may recognize this guy, Carl Jara. From
right here in Greater Cleveland, he’s been
sculpting sand up and down the Lake Erie
shore and all over Ohio for the past twenty
three years. You may have seen him at the
Children’s Museum or Oktoberfest, but
he’s also been working all over the US and
in more than a dozen other countries. He
has been seen on the Travel Channel’s
Sand Blasters and Sand Wars and trending
on Yahoo. In fact, his rather illustrious
career has earned him dozens of medals
at contests worldwide, and he’s won a
whopping fourteen World Championship
medals. When he’s not out playing a sand
sculpting rock star he’s creating furniture
in his traditional 19th century wood
shop and filling his days at the Cleveland
Museum of Natural History where he gets
to build all those cool exhibits. You can see

Jon Woodworth
Jon is a Master sculptor crowned “SandDad”
by his 4 children. He is just a kid at heart
and as such, loves to play in the sand. His
wife, Kristie, joins him when possible. Jon
has been sand sculpting since 1991 and
began entering Amateur contests in 2000,
eventually moving into the Masters division
in 2006. Jon keeps busy with commercial
projects, fairs and charity events around
the US. He enjoys the competition of sand
sculpting and is blessed by all the friends
he has made through it.
Jeff Strong
Jeff Strong loves pushing sand to its
physical limits while creating shapes with
beautiful form. To him, art and physics are
equal parts of a beautiful universe. Arches
and open spaces are hallmarks of his work,
which can be seen at strongsand.com.
Jon has won various 1st , 2nd, & 3rd place
awards in Duo and Solo competitions,
Quick Sand, People’s choice awards and
has appeared on Travel Channel’s “Sand
Wars”. Jon has also been a sculptor on the
Warrior’s Weekend Sand Sculpture Team
since 2009 for our wounded heroes.
As a computer programmer at University
of Puget Sound, he enjoys getting away
to the sand on vacations. Jeff’s early
attempts at sand castles finally took off
in 2001 when he met Pacific Northwest
master sculptors and joined their team for
beach competitions.
Believing the zombie apocalypse is just
around the corner, Jon fears that his oldest
daughter, Heather, may win her bid to take
over the new apocalyptic world and crown
herself supreme ruler. She, his first child,
much like his first car, may have gotten a
few dents during his “father learning curve”
and upon becoming the new ruler may
force him to eat apple sauce on a daily
basis.
The increasing role of sand sculpture in
his life inspired a piece showing a sculptor
being devoured by a sand dragon.
“Consuming Pastime”, as it was called,
became an internet sensation. Since then,
his gravity-defying works have continued
to receive awards at the highest levels of
competition.
Jon says: “It’s not just sand, it’s Granulized
Engineering”
Jeff loves traveling to distant beaches to
create art in the company of wonderful
people in the community of sand
sculpture.

Marc Malinowski learned about InQuicker while up late one night with his 11-year-old
son, Bobby, who suffered from seasonal allergies. “I was looking online to find out
the urgent care hours, and it gave me the option to go ahead and reserve a time.”
After filling out a quick form, Marc had an approximate treatment time the
following morning at the Willowick Campus Urgent Care Center.
“We respect our patients’ time, and

for our patients,” explains Joe Popely,
director of Lake Health Occupational
Services and Ambulatory Centers.
