Implementing PPAP
in Aerospace
Presented by:

The Aerospace industry has been slow to implement the requirements
of AIAG’s PPAP process that has been widely used in the Industrial and
Automotive industries. In applying the standard practice to Aerospace,
various issues arise due to low volumes and the industry’s reliance on
FAIs. The presentation will outline some of the hurdles and possible
approaches to overcoming those hurdles that you could use to negotiate
a reasonable implementation in your company.
Spitty Tata, CI Manager at Woodward, Inc. has been a long-time member of
ASQ Section 1205. His past experience includes Quality, Reliability and
Engineering. He has worked at Woodward since 1984. He has an MSEE degree
from West Virginia and an MBA from Rockford College.

Quality Engineer: Rockford, IL
Company Description: Ardekin Precision is a veteran owned business located at 2526 20th Street in Rockford, Illinois. Ardekin
Precision, a member company of the Kaney Group since 2008, specializes in low volume/high mix manufacturing and assembly for
the aerospace community. Ardekin Precision is an AS9100 certified company and ITAR registered. The Kaney Group includes
Kaney Aerospace. Kaney Aerospace specializes in engineering services and laboratory operations, test equipment design and
manufacture, aircraft component repair and aircraft flight-line installation support. Kaney Aerospace was named the 25th fastest

Role Description/Summary: This opportunity is for a quality engineer at Ardekin Precision - a growing, energetic, dynamic
aerospace manufacturing company. The Quality Engineer will plan, organize, and coordinate all company quality activities.
Major Responsibilities:
Maintenance and continuous improvement of the calibration, preventative action, corrective action, and nonconformance systems.
Monitor, audit, and maintain quality systems to ensure compliance to ISO / AS certification and customer requirements.
Resolve customer, supplier, and production quality issues.
Review of new jobs for gauging requirements and procure gauging as needed.
Establish / document receiving, in-process, final inspection, and FAI requirements.
Inspections using all types of inspection equipment including CMM programming.
Support of all customer-driven quality initiatives.
Support of FAA repair station activities and responsibility for FAA drug testing program.
Qualifications / Requirements:
Qualified Candidate will possess / demonstrate:
Bachelor’s degree in technical field.
Five to seven years of experience in quality discipline.
Advanced blueprint / GD&T interpretation skills.
Excellent problem solving, analytical, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple issues.
Experience implementing product and process improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Achieving
Competitive Excellence (ACE), etc.
Strong organization, communication, and Microsoft Office skills.
Experience with root cause investigation, statistics, and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
ASQ membership and CQE is desired.
Operational Details: This is a first shift opportunity in Rockford, IL. Travel is minimal. Overtime may be required at times.

Clinical Quality Manager: Rockford, IL
Primary Responsibilities are as follows:
• Formulates and maintains clinical services quality objectives complementary to corporate policies and goals.
• Creates and implements incoming and in-process inspection criteria and procedures.
• Interprets clinical services quality philosophy to key personnel in organization.
• Works closely with Project Management and Operations to develop optimal packaging and distribution processes to assure the quality of the
clinical trial materials.
• Directs staff engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities and products.
• Leads all clinical services quality complaint investigations and maintains CAPA program.
• Works with customers and vendors to insure quality of all components for production, including bulk products.
• Maintains inspection readiness of the clinical services area and conducts quality audits performed by Health Authorities and clients.
• Identifies gaps in the Quality SOPs and coordinates the necessary revisions and personnel training.
• Creates and directs environmental test functions.
• Plays active role on quality management teams within the organization.
• Works closely with AndersonBrecon-UK Quality staff to maintain harmonization of clinical services procedures and SOPs.
• Designs and implements quality training programs to key personnel in conjunction with managers.
• Reports on key quality measures to management and customers.
• Create and maintain an internal GMP audit program.
• Attendance to work is an essential function of this job.
• Other duties as assigned by Manager.

Qualified individual will possess a Bachelor Degree and a minimum of four years of applicable experience demonstrating progressive responsibility;
or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a thorough understanding of quality principles. Must have strong leadership
skills and competencies with the ability to lead dynamically and energize multidiscipline work teams to learn and apply new skills and techniques to
respond to business needs and good analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills to evaluate business problems and apply knowledge to
identify appropriate solutions; ability to resolve issues effectively and efficiently

risk and will ensure the organization is in full compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations and
professional contract requirements, including but not limited to FDA, CLIA, HIPPA, AABB, OSHA and NMDP.
Progressive quality systems management experience in a highly regulated work environment, i.e., manufacturing,

Quality Manager: Manitowoc, WI
Our client, a leader in its industry, is hiring a quality manager. The manager will have 2 direct reports and 5 indirect reports. This individual will be
responsible for leading the quality management system within the plant. It is expected that the manager will provide support to the quality engineers
and techs, maintain corrective action systems, implement necessary evaluation and performance metrics and coordinate with the management
team within the plant to ensure overall plant objectives are met. The incumbent should have previous supervisory experience.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be assertive when necessary and have proven experience communicating initiatives
to upper management. This position has foreseeable promotion potential within the next 5 years. It is an excellent opportunity for a driven engineer
who has some experience supervising quality techs to step up into a management role.
Qualified candidates must have:
" Bachelor's degree in engineering
" 3+ years of experience in a metal fabrication manufacturing environment
" Supervisory and/or management experience
" Excellent personnel development skills
" Experience writing PPAPs
Preference given to candidates who have ASQ or Six Sigma certifications, ISO9001/14001 and/or APQP.
Salary requirements ranging between $65K to $75K, dependent upon experience. (Some relocation assistance available)
