Consideration of approval of a resolution approving temporary parking
along the west side of SE L.A. Grant Pkwy. between Westown Pkwy.
and Ashworth Rd. from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 16,
2016, at the request of the Waukee Police Department

SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON:
The Waukee Police Department will be
conducting Police Officer candidate testing on Saturday, April 16th, at
Timberline School in Waukee starting at 7am and ending around Noon .
There will be multiple jurisdictions that will be working collaboratively
together regarding the testing of peace officer candidates which the
Waukee Police Department believes will fill the allocated parking at the
school. To further compound the issue, VSA, the local soccer club, will
be conducting games starting at 8:45 am that morning. Because of the
limited parking at the school for both events, the Waukee Police
Department requests that parking be allowed on the west side of SE L.A.
Grant Parkway, between Westown Pkwy and Ashworth Rd.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:

STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Iowa Code §364.12(2)(a) states that public ways and
grounds may be temporarily closed by resolution.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution.

RESOLUTION 16APPROVING TEMPORARY PARKING ALONG THE WEST SIDE OF SE L.A. GRANT
PKWY. BETWEEN WESTOWN PKWY. AND ASHWORTH RD. FROM 6:00 A.M. TO 12:00
P.M. ON SATURDAY, APRIL 16, 2016, AT THE REQUEST OF THE WAUKEE POLICE
DEPARTMENT
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Dallas County, State of Iowa, is a duly organized Municipal
Organization; AND,
WHEREAS, the Waukee Police Department will be conducting police officer candidate testing at
Timberline School, 2605 SE L.A. Grant Parkway, on Saturday, April 16, 2016; AND,
WHEREAS, there will be multiple jurisdictions working collaboratively together regarding the
testing of peace officer candidates which the Waukee Police Department believes will fill the allocated
parking at the school; AND,
WHEREAS, Vision Soccer Academy will also be conducting games on Saturday, April 16, 2016, in
the vicinity of Timberline School; AND,
WHEREAS, because of limited parking at Timberline School for both events, the Waukee Police
Department requests that parking be allowed on the west side of SE L.A. Grant Parkway between
Westown Pkwy. and Ashworth Rd. from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2016.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this 4th day
of April, 2016, that it hereby approves temporary parking along the west side of SE L.A. Grant Pkwy.
between Westown Pkwy. and Ashworth Rd. from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2016,
at the request of the Waukee Police Department.
