This issue of Nesma Insider welcomes 2016 with a highlight of some of the remarkable achievements made this past year by the Nesma community. JAN. 2015 Nesma Electric entered a memorandum of understanding with Tata Projects, one of the fastest growing and most admired infrastructure companies in India. Nesma Telecom & Technology signed a Cloud Partnership Program with Mobily (MCPP) to provide cloud computing services for various businesses in Saudi Arabia. Nesma & Partners signed a contract worth SR 8.5B to supply all the medical equipment and furniture to the National Guard Health Affairs Specialized Hospitals in Riyadh, Jeddah, Taif, and Qassim, as part of their housing project. Nesma Trading’s rock crusher production started at Nesma Crusher. Namma Shipping Lines acquired a new passenger ship, named “Amanah”, just in time to celebrate the opening of the passengers’ terminal at the Yanbu Port. The new ship transported the first group of pilgrims from Egypt to the Yanbu Port. Issue No. 24, December 2015 - NESMA INSIDER FEB. 2015 Nesma & Partners completed the construction of a sewage treatment plant in Thuwal. Nesma Orbit launched a new website at www.orbitksa.com. Nesma Holding celebrates its first year of National Days celebrations. MAR. 2015 Nesma & Partners was awarded a contract worth SR 6.7B by Umm Al Qura for Development & Construction Company for infrastructure work related to King Abdul Aziz Road in Makkah. Negmar added a new ferry boat named “Hamidiye” to its operations on the Marmara Sea in Turkey. Hamidiye has a capacity of 100 cars and 433 passengers. NDIGITEC expanded the geographical reach of Nesma Group by establishing a support office in Central Yerevan, Armenia. The new office will provide design and sales support to the Company’s Saudi and Dubai-based operations. Mawaddah International Group scored 98% in the latest evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Hajj for companies operating pilgrimage services. Nesma Holding’s IT Department successfully transitioned Nesma Airlines to an Oracle system, making it the 20th company in the Nesma Group to do so. 2 FEATURED ARTICLE continued APR. 2015 MAY 2015 Nesma President, Saleh Al-Turki, spoke at the inaugural Pearl Initiative and United Nations Global Compact Regional Forum for the Gulf Region, which took place in Dubai under the Patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. Nesma Holding and the French public transport operator, Keolis, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to form a strategic alliance to develop new public transport systems within the Kingdom. Nesma Holding made its debut on the FG1000 racing circuit that alternates between Dubai’s Autodrome and Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit by sponsoring Mashour Bel Hejailia, who finished 3rd in the standings for the 14-race season. Nesma Holding sponsored the 12th Jeddah Marathon. Nesma Airlines announced it had begun scheduled passenger flights between Cairo and Jizan, Saudi Arabia. Nesma Telecom & Technology launched a new website at www.nesmatelecom.com Employees from both Jeddah & Khulais Nesma Embroidery branches received the first of several one-month training programs on the latest embroidery design software. Issue No. 24, December 2015 - NESMA INSIDER Sh. Saleh Al-Turki, participated in the Jury Board for TAKREEM award 2015, held in London, UK. JUN. 2015 Nesma Holding was proud to join the Tarahom Committee in the opening of its new HQ offices in Jeddah. Tarahom, meaning “Compassion,” is a national organization for the care and welfare of prisoners and their families. Sh. Saleh Al-Turki is the Chairman of the Tarahom Committee in the Makkah Region. Nesma Holding was ranked #15 in FORBES Top Private Arab Companies Making an Impact in the World. Partnering with Majid Society, Nesma Training Center hosted a training program for job seekers. The goal of the program, entitled “Kawader” is to help decrease national unemployment rates and strengthen training outcomes to match labor market requirements. 3 FEATURED ARTICLE continued JUL. 2015 SEP. 2015 Nesma President, Sh. Saleh Al-Turki, met with the Young Business Committee at Makkah Chamber of Commerce to share 35 years’ business experience. Nesma Holding relaunched its social media platforms using channels that, in addition to the website, are the company’s voice online. Nesma Trading’s Steel Build Division was awarded an SR 182.5M contract for the design and construction of the GE Manufacturing Technology Center in Dammam. Namma International Marines Services received two new ships, the Finland-flagged vessel “Mv Transporter” at Jeddah Islamic Port and the “MV JAMAA II”, from owner PAX RORO. AUG. 2015 Nesma Holding signed an agreement with King Abdullah University of Science and Technology to establish a sewing and embroidery center in Thuwal, a village located next to the University. Nesma Training Center in Khobar launched an intensive program designed to meet the demand for cooks and waiters in Nesma projects in Jubail, Munefa and elsewhere. Nesma Telecom & Technology received a Quarterly Quality Award Certificate from the Royal Commission of Jubail & Yanbu for achieving the Top 10 Quality Club of Contractor’s Performance. Nesma Security was handed full responsibility for the security of KAPSRC, a major institution requiring the highest standards of security. Nesma Airlines relaunched social media channels. Jollibee celebrated the opening of its first restaurant in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The new establishment marked the 11th Jollibee restaurant operated by Nesma. The legal process for incorporation was completed for Nesma Onur Contracting Co Ltd making the company an official addition to Nesma Group companies. OCT. 2015 Nesma & Partners Riyadh team built, in a short timeframe, a Flu Clinic in addition to other renovations for the National Guard Health Affairs in response to MERS flu management. Nesma Training Center sponsored a new internationally recognized program called “Passport To Success”, owned by the International Youth Foundation and to be delivered through strategic partner, Majid Society. Nesma Trading finished its new corporate movie. Namma Tours acquired “Detours”, another tourism company, adding to its logistics chain limousine and river transport services. Namma Shipping Agency acquired two more cargo vessels, the “City of Misurata” and “Albaqa’ Dream”. SEP. Issue No. 24, December 2015 - NESMA INSIDER 4 FEATURED ARTICLE continued NOV. 2015 The 20th Nesma Management Forum was held in Cairo, Egypt allowing for an exchange of ideas and information among Nesma managers and awarding of the prestigious Nesma Management Awards. Nesma & Partners’ project “SANG mosque relocation” won Project of the Year at the Nesma Management Forum. Nesmal Investment started a new partnership with Foras Investment company in Cairo to provide support for startup businesses. DEC. 2015 Nesma Airlines opened a new call center for Egypt and Saudi Arabia. Nesma Security launched a new website at www.nesmasecurity.com. Nesma Training Center worked with participants on the MBC show “Israr.” Nesma Travel launched a new websit at www.nesmatravel.com. Nesma Airlines announced it would become Saudi Arabia’s newest national air carrier. Hail Airport will be used as a hub connecting 12 other airports in the northern part of the Kingdom. Nesma Embroidery signed an agreement with Aramco in the Eastern Province to open a new branch. Nesma Training Center signed a training agreement with the International Islamic Relief Organization. Nesma sponsored racer, Mashour, took 1st and 2nd place in two races at the Dubai Autodrome, in addition to earning the top qualifying time for the next race. Namma Shipping Lines vessel, “Amanah”, became the first non-military vessel to enter the New Egyptian Naval Base Port. Issue No. 24, December 2015 - NESMA INSIDER During 2015, Nesma Embroidery hosted around 100 visitors including VIPs learning about the program. During 2015, Nesma Havatek worked on three major projects: “Umm Waul” for the manufacturing and erection of 13 field erected storage tanks; “Ras El Khair” for the prefabrication and erection of two field erected storage tanks; “Aramco South Dhahran Housing Water Tanks” for pre-fabrication and erection of 12 field erected storage tanks. 5 FEATURED ARTICLE NESMA’S PRESIDENT ON CNBC ARABIA N esma President, Saleh Al-Turki, was interviewed by the Arab TV presenter, Ricardo Karam, on CNBC Arabia. Speaking about the importance of gender equality in employment, Sh. Saleh emphasized the role of women in the workplace. He stated, “Success is the same whether it is achieved by a man or a woman! Unfortunately, it’s quite a challenge for women in our Arab society to succeed because the society supports males and sees them as naturally successful. Ltd. without the employment of both genders in all the various positions; male superiority might continue for a long period of time unless we open up to accept change and stop being afraid of it.” “Ma’a Ricardo Karam” is a Lebanese television show that features key Arab personalities from the world of business, science and art to inspire youth all over the Arab world. 6 FEATURED ARTICLE ADAPT THE CHANGE: FINANCE FORUM 2015 U nder the banner “Adapt the Change”, Nesma Holding’s annual Finance Forum took place on December 9 -10, bringing together finance representatives from across the Nesma Group of companies at Nesma Training Center in Jeddah. During his speech in the forum, Nesma President, Saleh Al-Turki, emphasized the importance of adapting to the new changes in the world of finance. He described how the oil economy has fallen although the government is still, financially, one of the strongest in the world with no overseas debt. He also said that in the future, we are likely to see banks examining financials more carefully so it’s important that our numbers are very accurate. We also need to be very careful with expenditures and “challenge the budget”. The last part of the forum included a speech about adopting (IFRS), International Financial Reporting Standards, by guest speakers Abdul Jabbar and Noamaan Yunus from Price Waterhouse Coopers (PWC), a multinational professional services network. The IFRS standards are being adopted worldwide particularly by the G20 countries and Saudi Arabia will require all publicly traded companies to adopt IFRS by 2017 and private companies, such as Nesma, by 2018. However, Nesma Holding has decided to be an early adopter and by 2017, all Nesma financial statements will be compliant with IFRS. Issue No. 24, December 2015 - NESMA INSIDER 7 GROUP NEWS Nesma Embroidery and Aramco Sign Agreement Nesma President, Saleh Al-Turki, and Aramco Vice President, Naser Al-Nafisi, signed an agreement at Aramco to establish Nesma’s fourth sewing and embroidery center in the Eastern Region of Saudi Arabia. After Jeddah, Khulais, and Thuwal, this branch continues to support Nesma Embroidery’s vision of having “a factory in every village.” and will serve female disabled employees from Al-rahma Medical and Charitable Society in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. Nesma Holding Sponsors Virtual Reality Lab Nesma Holding Participates in the 14th FIKR Conference Nesma Holding sponsored a virtual Reality Laboratory in Effat University, Jeddah. This new technology is an interactive environment for creating and conducting simulated experiments and offers the latest possibilities in teaching methods as well as promoting discovery and innovation among science students. Under the rubric “Arab integration: Challenges and Horizons.”, Nesma Holding participated in the FIKR 14th Conference in Cairo. Nesma’s participation reflects its commitment to social responsibility in support of unity and integration as well as encouraging Arab societies’ prosperity and economic growth. FIKR is a platform that fosters discussion of cultural affairs in the Arab region, with a regional and global overlook. Nesma President, Saleh Al-Turki and Princess Loulwa Al-Faisal opened the lab along with team members and managers from both Nesma holding and Effat University. Issue No. 24, December 2015 - NESMA INSIDER 8 GROUP NEWS Nesma & Partners to Build Jubail Bulk Plant Project Nesma & Partners Receives “Contractor of the Year” Award Nesma & Partners was awarded “Contractor of the Year”, for its King Abdul Aziz Road Project in Makkah, Saudi Arabia during the summit “Leaders in Construction KSA” held in Riyadh Marriott Hotel, on October 26, 2015. The award was accepted by Musa Demirkazik, Vice President, Strategic Planning and Business Development on behalf of Nesma & Partners. The prestigious summit brought together the best of the Kingdom’s construction community and represents the the companies who are leading the Middle East as well as shaping the sector’s future. Nesma & Partners Signs Contract with COWI Nesma & Partners CEO, Imad Gholmieh, and COWI Senior Vice President, Jotham Vizard, have signed an agreement that will provide design and engineering services for King Abdul Aziz Road (KAAR) Project in Makkah. COWI is a reputable international company that provides engineering services all over the world with its main headquarters based in Denmark. Issue No. 24, December 2015 - NESMA INSIDER Nesma & Partners was awarded a Lump Sum Procure and Build (LSPB) construction contract by Saudi Aramco to build a Bulk Plant in Jubail Industrial City. When completed, the project will transport approximately 60,000 barrels per day of refined products through a truck loading facility (bulk plant) in Jubail to distribute two grades of gasoline (premium 91 and premium 95) and diesel. Additionally, it is projected to move an estimated 15,600 barrels per day methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) through ground pipeline. The Jubail Bulk Plant project includes a myriad of projects such as: ten buildings with precast and cast-in-site, steel structures and pre-engineered buildings, underground and above ground utilities, site development works, process piping fabrication and erection, a truck loading facility, and 26 km of external pipelines. Other major works will include painting, fireproofing, static and rotating equipment supply and installation, a terminal management system, electrical and instrumentation, low current systems (access control, closed-circuit television, video assessment and surveillance system, fire alarms, public address and general alarm systems, building management system), a 13.8 KV substation, cathodic protection, pipe line leak detection systems, field tanks fabrication and erection, and testing and commissioning. 9 GROUP NEWS Nesma Training Center Hosts Qaderoon’s International Day of People with Disabilities Nesma Training Center hosted Qaderoon’s celebration of the International Day of People with Disabilities on December 3, 2015. The celebration was prepared by the Business Disability Network “Qaderoon” and aimed to promote an understanding of people with disabilities to encourage support for their dignity, rights and wellbeing. The event included a presentation explaining the international classifications of disabilities, how to interact with a disabled employee, and what the role is of our society is in supporting its disabled individuals. The ceremony closed with awarding and acknowledging Nesma’s employees with disabilities for their hard work and continuous commitment to the company’s success. New Websites Launched for Nesma Security & Nesma Travel Two Nesma companies recently began showcasing their services online and launched new websites, Nesma Security (www.nesmasecurity.com) and Nesma Travel (www.nesmatravel.com). Issue No. 24, December 2015 - NESMA INSIDER 10 GROUP NEWS AWARENESS & SAFETY 40 Million Safe Man Hours in Umm Wu’al Phosphate Project Nesma & Partners’ Maaden Umm Wu’al Phosphate Project celebrated achieving 40 million safe man hours without lost time injuries (LTI). Nesma Trading Launches Weight Assessment Campaign Nesma Trading organized a Weight Assessment Campaign for staff in Aramco, Wasit. The gathering included tips on height assessment using a measuring scale, waist assessment using a measuring tape, Body Mass Index (BMI) and body fat assessment using a body fat analyzer. Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QSHE) Supervisors Ayman Abu Dargham and Chadi El Hage were at the forefront of the activities to educate the employees about weight assessment. Issue No. 24, December 2015 - NESMA INSIDER 11 GROUP NEWS Nesma & Partners Beirut Office Staff from the Nesma & Partners Beirut office visited the Children’s Cancer Center of Lebanon (CCCL) to offer the children emotional support and donations. Nesma Orbit Annual Meeting 2015 Holiday Lunch for Koncar Employees Nesma Orbit’s annual meeting was held at Park Hayatt Jeddah, on December 10, 2015. The meeting included a general briefing of the past year, a welcome to new employees, congratulations to staff for achieving the 2015 sales target and setting a new one, as well as recognizing the employee of the year, Hussien Ibrahim, Central Area Manager. Ousama Najjar, Chairman of Koncar Eu, organized a pre-holiday lunch for all the employees at Koncar EU factory in Split, Croatia. Koncar EU is part of the Nesma group of companies and a manufacturer of low and medium voltage switchgears, relays and control panels for utilities and shipbuilding industries. Issue No. 24, December 2015 - NESMA INSIDER 12 GROUP NEWS SPORTS NEWS Nesma Catering in RTCMS Basketball Tournament Ras Tanura Community Maintenance Services (RTCMS) and Aramco - Ras Tanura, organized the third season of its annual Basketball Tournament. This year, six different Aramco contractor teams are competing in the tournament with the aim of enhancing the physical health and camaraderie of all Saudi Aramco contractor employees, with a slogan of “Believe and Achieve”. The League started on December 18, 2015 and will proceed until it’s closing on February 5, 2016, at Aramco Radwah - Ras Tanura Basketball Court. Second JODP Cricket Tournament Closing and Award Ceremony The second JODP Cricket tournament closing and award ceremonies were held on December 10, 2015 at JODP Cricket ground. The event included a match between “Asian Cricket” from Nesma & Partners and the tournament champion, “Oger Eagle,” from Saudi Oger Company. Even though this tournament comes to a close it is important to note that SANG’s 2nd Basketball & Volleyball tournament will be held at SANG project camp, and the team registration will start in January, 2016. 1st MWSPP Inter Company Basketball Tournament Nesma & Partners Project Management Team & Nesma Cagers grabbed the championship trophy in the closing ceremony of the 1st Maaden Waad Al Shamal Phosphate Project (MWSPP) Inter Company Basketball tournament, held between October 18 - December 11, 2015. The tournament was organized by Maaden Project Management Consultant and included the participation of 20 companies representing Maaden Umm Wu’al phosphate projects in Turaif City, Saudi Arabia. She graduated from Dar Al-Hekma University in 2011 with a B.A. in Interior Design. Ranya earned a Masters in Interior Design, Lighting Solutions in 2013. She worked for Nesma Orbit for four years and did the interior design for Nesma Holding’s new building. Nesma & Partners Beirut office celebrated its 4th anniversary.
