Susan Spencer, Director, Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation Moving the 15th annual Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation Golf Tournament from its traditional October date to the spring proved to be a successful formula for the Foundation’s largest fundraising event. On May 24, 143 golfers braved the vagaries of spring weather – thunderstorms and sunny skies in one afternoon – to golf at the challenging Blackstone National Golf Club in Sutton, Mass. The tournament raised $26,000 First place winners Sean Graham, Bill Smith and John Graham for grants to schools and other Education Foundation programs. First place winners were: Bill Smith, John Graham, and Sean Graham; second place winners were: Ken Cole, Dave Scribner, Chris Gardella, and N. Hill; third place winners were: David Glispin, Kevin LaDuke, Michael Fitzpatrick, and Joseph Connors. Mark Lavoie won the Closest to the Pin game. Lance Anderson and Deb Larsen won the Longest Drive competition. In addition to prizes for skill, the tournament featured a lavish raffle with top prizes being a golf weekend at the Legends at Myrtle Beach and a set of irons.
