From industry legend Michael J. Peter!
There are only a handful of people in the history of the adult nightclub industry who require little to no introduction—Michael J.
Peter is one of those people. Often credited as the forerunner of
the modern gentlemen’s club, Peter bought his first club in Florida
in 1980 and the industry hasn’t been the same since. Peter’s
Master’s degree in hotel and restaurant management and hospitality
from Cornell University’s renowned school of Hotel and Restaurant
Management would define his operational style, as he introduced
the idea of first-class operations, five-star dining, entertainers in
gowns, cleanliness and more into his clubs. Soon, clubs across
the country were following suit. Peter went on to own and operate
such highly successful clubs and club chains as Thee Dollhouse,
Pure Platinum and Solid Gold.

The EXPO legal panels and workshops—where leading First Amendment attorneys speak on the hot-button legal issues
facing the industry—have often been the most well-attended events at the convention. Typically, the most popular part
of the legal panels is when they’ve finished—and attendees rush the stage to ask one of the attorneys their own specific

7 Tradeshow Mainstage
Non-stop action all day long!
For those who fondly remember those “high-energy” EXPO Tradeshows from the late 1990s, we have good news—the
energy is back! Anchored by a 20-by-20-foot EXPO Tradeshow Mainstage in the center of our redesigned Tradeshow
floor layout, this year’s two-day, 300-booth EXPO Tradeshow will entertain show exhibitors and attendees with non-stop
action. The mainstage area will have an in-the-round stage; a club-style sound and lighting system; tables and chairs;
professional DJs; and two full-service bars. Featured entertainment—from contests to fashion shows to special giveaways—will be presented every hour. Already booked for the Tradeshow Mainstage are the Finals of Rio River’s Annual
Miss Exotic Dancer USA Contest Series, co-hosted by adult film icon and former Playboy Playmate Teri Weigel and
current Miss Nude World Aspen Reign. EXPO attendees can attend the semi-finals of the competition at Little Darlings
in Las Vegas on Sunday, August 26. Also on tap for the Mainstage will be special performances by winners from Nakita

From club expansion pioneer John Gray!
John Gray took the adult nightclub industry by storm when he
arrived in 1991, opening the first Spearmint Rhino club in Upland,
California. Over the next dozen years he turned Spearmint Rhino
into a full-fledged adult nightclub chain, introducing 24 new club
openings over that period. While opening 24 clubs in 12 years was
certainly an accomplishment worthy of recognition, what truly
separated Gray from other club chains was that half of those clubs
were located overseas in England, Russia and Australia, establishing Spearmint Rhino as a true worldwide presence. Over the
years, Spearmint Rhino clubs have taken home a number of ED’s
Awards, including the “Overall Gentlemen’s Club of the Year” Award
for their Las Vegas location, which has the reputation of being one

In Tampa, politicians vilify Joe Redner as the ultimate outsider,
while residents consider him a local legend. But in our industry, Joe
Redner, owner of the famed Mons Venus adult nightclub, carries
the title, “father of the lap dance.” One of the most multifaceted
club owners in the history of our industry, Redner is a very—with
an emphasis on the word very—vocal advocate of libertarian
principles. He has waged dozens of legal battles with the Tampa
City Council, which has tried to place restrictions on the city’s adult
nightclub industry for three decades. He has filed suits that have
reached the U.S. Supreme Court and have established legal precedent. In addition to being a club owner, businessman (he owns the

We’ve heard so much lately about the “Occupy” movement, from Wall
Street to your street. As we witness thousands of people standing up
for what they believe in, the EXPO will once again offer the opportunity

EXPO, the Association of Club Executives (ACE) holds the largest
gathering of its National Board before the official start of the convention
