It’s the only flow - controlling drip tape available - giving you more control and uniformity wherever you farm. Applications The low density polyethylene hose allows transport of water and nutrients in all applications in which use of on-line drippers is preferable or where secondary or branch lines are required. For above-ground flower and horticultural greenhouse crops, use of the white hose is particularly indicated. In these applications, use of the white hose allows water temperature in the tubing to be reduced, thus limiting the thermal stress at the plant root. Filtration How to choose the right modeI Caution Before choosing the most suitable filtering system it is necessary to know some basic parameters: The filters and filters header in this catalogue are intended exclusively for the separation of particles in suspension that accompany the water, independently of the system used: centrifuge, sand or disc. Every system chosen guarantees the retention of small solid particles, thereby avoiding any obstruction in the irrigation system used. Origin of the water to be filtered Maximum flow rate Backwash flow rate Maximum and minimum working pressure Destination of the filtered water Type of dripper Electric power availability voltage It is fundamental to know the level of dirt and the percentage of solids in suspension contained in the water to be filtered, for this reason a physical analysis of the water should be carried out (see check list below). The concentration of dirt, evaluated as the percentage of solids in suspension in p.p.m. (part per million) for analytical purposes will determine, again after the judgement of a qualified personnel: both the type of filter to adopt and the number of filters to use. Consider that water containing a concentration of solids in suspension above 400 p.p.m. must stand for a sufficient period in an artificial lake before being filtered so decantation can take place. The filtering system that are shown in the following in pages are not able to follow any chemical - or biological - type filtering. Very frequently, following the addition of fertiliser to the irrigation water, the precipitation of loose substances is produced that subsequently agglomerate and create blockages in the irrigation system emission channels. To avoid this problem the most suitable type of fertiliser should be researched by qualified personnel in function of to the chemical characteristics of the water to be filtered. The use of satellite filters at the water input in the irrigation sector eliminates the risk of the group’s being obstructed, caused by the reasons outlined above and by accidental problems caused by the recirculation of filtered water at the input of the irrigation section. The weight and the volume of the filters and batteries shown in the manual may be changed without warning. The flow rates indicated are approximate: for the choice of all irrigation systems, a safety coefficient should be added that guarantees their functioning. Saying that a net filtration area is 0,115 mm means that all the particles that are larger than that are physically held back by the mesh, the discs or the sand in the filter. Suppose we have a wire with a diameter of 0,055 mm, and a value of the net filtration area of 0,115 mm; that would be the equivalent of a 150 Mesh net. This is given by the following formula: 1 inch = Mesh (net filtration area required + diameter of the wire) This concept makes it possible to eliminate the “wire size” variable that could lead to errors the moment reference is made to the mesh concept.
