Lamborghini National Meet in Monterey
This year’s Lamborghini National Meet in Monterey
definitely lived up to all of its expectations. Held
the third weekend in August, the three-day event
turned out to be quite a success, attracting several
thousand visitors throughout the weekend.
Concorso Italiano (also know as “a celebration of
Italian style”), was held on Friday at the Black Horse
Golf Course, as it has been in previous years. The
event is largely popular among Lamborghini owners.
In fact, this specific event has steadily grown as being
the ‘main event’ for Lamborghini owners who attend the Monterey show. In total, over 500 automobiles were
present, over
100 of which
were Lamborghinis. With
the large number of Lamborghinis present,
nearly every
type of model
was on display.
Lamborghini
Orange
County, once
again, had their
Lamborghini
girls showing
off the cars
they brought to the event. At the show, too, was a
Lamborghini hospitality tent, providing snacks, refreshments, and a shaded area where owners and
friends could gather and socialize with one another.
In attendance from Lamborghini were: Valentino
Balboni (Legendary Lamborghini Test Driver),
Stephan Winkelmann (CEO of Lamborghini), Rene
Sueltzner (Lamborghini Technical Services), Barbra
Adamoli (Worldwide Events Cordinator), Pietro
Frigerio (West Coast Rep), Dominik Hoberg
(Corporate Image), Manfred Fitzgerald (Director of
Brand and Design), Enrico Maffeo (Head of Sales) all
mingling with owners and enthusiasts alike.
The Monterey event continued on Saturday, when a
Gala Banquet and Awards Presentation was held at
the Rancho Canada Country Club for the Lambor-

The Italian Gathering
Taking place on Labor Day weekend in the heart of
Ohio (a place that, according to the movie
“Cannonball Run”, is the only state with the death
penalty for speeding!!!), allowed plenty of opportunities for Italian car owners to gather, get to know
each other, and spend some time showing off their
cars.

A new event this year, The Italian Gathering, represents a culmination of Midwest events to strengthen
and promote the Italian brands in the “Rust Belt” of
the United States. Lamborghini, Ferrari, Maserati,
Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Lancia, Detomaso, Pantera, and
Italian bikes were the invited groups for the event.
A special surprise was the Ferrari P400 on display,

Ohio. With seven Lamborghinis and one Ferrari
parked outside of the restaurant, a fair-sized crowd
soon gathered to form a small car show outside;
camera phones and digital cameras were flashing
away. It is always to fun to watch people admire
your car with respect, and often, incorrect information. Among other comments, we heard that Lamborghini 12-cylinders are actually illegal in some
states, and that they require special fuel not carried
at most gas stations.
Early Sunday morning, our group was one of the
first to arrive, right behind event organizers, other
volunteers, and George Evans, who brought his
1990 565 horsepower twin turbo Ferrari F40 and
Lamborghini Diablo Roadster. The cool, overcast
morning provided the perfect temperature for setting up displays and preparing the grounds. Midwest

MIDWEST LAMBOS
FALL 2006
First, I would like to extend a great big thank you to those who have ordered and purchased a
car from Lamborghini Troy; we value your business and look forward to seeing you again at one
of the many Lamborghini events in the Midwest, the next being the North American International Auto Show. The Auto Show is always a great time for us Midwest guys to get a break
from the winter lull. With our cars being in storage and no chance to enjoy our cars, it provides
a great time to catch up and talk about everything Lamborghini at the Lamborghini display. This
year we hope to have a Gallardo SE and the much anticipated LP640 Roadster on display for the
Detroit show.
Our last event of the year is coming up soon, and I’m looking forward to meeting some of our
new club participants. “The Running of Our Bulls” is scheduled to begin on Saturday, October
21st 8:30am at Lamborghini Troy and leave at 9:30am SHARP! Briefly, the run will start at Lamborghini Troy, we will travel 16 mile Rd to I-94, I-94 to Port Huron, then proceed north on the
coastal highway up to Bad Axe, then down around the bay to I-75 South into Frankenmuth and
spend the night at the Bavarian Inn Lodge. Frankenmuth has many great boutiques, shops, and
overall atmosphere – it should be perfect for our first overnight run. Then, on Sunday morning,
we will head south on I-75 to Troy and back to the Dealership. Lodging will be $139 for the
night, please contact Ashley at the Bavarian Inn Lodge 989-652-8747 ext. 3558 for your reservations. If you have not had a chance to contact me for the information form, please do so –
delayed registration may result in difficulty finding a room.
With the Lamborghini driving season nearing an end for most of us, do not hesitate to give me a
call and discuss any service that your Lamborghini may need over the winter months to prepare
it for next spring. Speaking of next spring, we have plenty of events planned with the Lamborghini Club for 2007 – stay tuned with the Midwest Lambos newsletter and myself for details!
If you have still not had the chance to come by and see us yet, our spacious showroom in Troy
comfortably holds nine cars, in addition to the customer lounge. In the customer lounge, there
are such perks as the 42" HD plasma screen with an X-Box 360 and Project Gotham Racing 3
frequently being played. Or, while your Lamborghini is being serviced in one of the eleven service bays, you can enjoy your favorite cappuccino or espresso at the 18' cappuccino bar.
I look forward to seeing you soon at the showroom, The Running of Our Bulls event, or at the
NAIAS in January!

owners who had their cars judged at the Concorso on Friday. Unfortunately, no representatives from Automobili Lamborghini were able to attend Saturday evening’s event, however, Asus made a strong showing,
displaying their new special-edition Lamborghini laptop. From Asus: “The Lamborghini Notebook Series is a
true mobile computing revolution. The Industrial Design team at ASUS studied the many series of Lamborghini in order to get the most accurate perception of the Lamborghini spirit. Available in both yellow and
black, the Lamborghini VX1 adopts the trademark colors of the Lamborghini logo. With special mirror painting finish, the notebook looks and feels like a supreme supercar.” In typical fashion, the food and drinks for
the banquet were excellent. Some of us were even fortunate enough to enjoy Lamborghini wine!
Sunday’s events included the Sunday morning brunch, which is the last Lamborghini event that the majority of
LCA members attend. Most LCA members only visit the Pebble Beach event every other year. As usual,
though, the food and company at the brunch was great. Jim Heady, going above and beyond, shuttled a van to
and from Pebble Beach and the brunch to provide convenience and savings on parking costs for fellow LCA
members attending the Pebble Beach Concours.
To cap off the Monterey weekend, the exclusive Pebble Beach Concours was held on Sunday at the Pebble
Beach Lodge on the 18th fairway adjacent to the pacific coastline. In its 56th year, it has proven itself to be
one of the most significant car shows in the world. There were approximately 180 automobiles on the lawn,
of which there was only one Lamborghini. The 1965 3500 GTZ, owned by Scott Gauthier of Scottsdale Arizona, looked the same as the day it left Sant’Agata. In a word, the car was spectacular. (Look for more details on this great car in an upcoming issue of Midwest Lambos.) Several notables were present, including Jay
Leno, who was very approachable and willing to chat with spectators at the event. He gave his warmest regards to the Lamborghini Club America. Among a few other Lamborghinis owned by Jay, he has a beautiful
Miura SV! Because of the exclusivity of the Pebble Beach event, the price has increased over the last few
years, but the crowd continues to come in great numbers. This year, oddly enough, due to the large number
of spectators, the number of cars allowed on the lawn was decreased to accommodate all who wanted to
enjoy the event. Next year should prove to provide just as great of a turnout, but we are really looking forward to the year Lamborghini will be featured at Pebble Beach, which we hope to be in the next few years!
Extra special thanks go out to Jim and Joan Heady who did an exceptional job in organizing the weekend
events for the Lamborghini Club members in attendance!

Romanowski, along with myself and friends, set up the Lamborghini Club America tent. Positioned right next to the LCA tent was Jim
Kaminski, founder and president of the Lamborghini Owner’s Club.
Not long into the morning, owners with their cars started arriving. A total of 86 Italian cars were in attendance on the manicured lawns of
Wendy’s International Headquarters. The threat of rain, unfortunately, kept some owners and enthusiasts away, but, thankfully, the clouds
departed and the sunshine broke through in the afternoon, encouraging more car owners and fans to arrive throughout the day.
The low rumble of Italian muscle was the common sound as a record number of Lamborghinis were present for the event. With a total of 27
cars in attendance, not even Ferrari could compete with those numbers. Everyone who attended – whether it was an owner, an enthusiast, or
just an admirer, were surrounded with plenty of cars to view, activities to watch, and people to socialize with. The relaxed attitude of everyone
who volunteered and attended made the event a huge success.
Lamborghini Ohio, one of the primary sponsors for this year’s event, brought along a brilliant Murcielago Roadster shining in Arancio Ishtar and
a Gallardo SE in Classic Monterey Blue. In addition to their amazing cars, Lamborghini Ohio brought along some important staff members. Harvey Ford, Lamborghini Ohio’s Sales Manager, was available to talk specifics, as well as, help with any purchases. Also present was Paul
Anthony, one of the latest additions to Lamborghini Ohio’s staff as the new Marketing Director. Greg Nelson, owner of Lamborghini Ohio,
was also in attendance for the show.
The list of show placements and awards for the Lamborghinis in attendance are:

Along with the show winners were some magnificent examples of Lamborghinis from all decades of production. The silver 1983 prototype fuelinjection Countach 5000 S was in stellar condition. A custom bronze-colored Gallardo Spyder was beyond incredible, especially once the sun
came out (this Spyder was a special one of a kind color that was created and ordered by its owner). A Monterey Edition Diablo SV even made
an appearance once the clouds pulled out.
A special thank-you goes to Evans Automotive, Lamborghini Ohio, Midwest Auto Group, and Wendy’s Management Group for donations of
their time, resources, and passion for the Italian tradition of automobiles.
The Italian Gathering 2007 planning is already underway and the organizers are hoping to at least double attendance numbers.
The featured car next year will be the #39 yellow Ferrari sp333 racecar, which will surely draw fans of both racing and Italian cars alike.

Wheels of Italy
Wheels of Italy, founded by Dan Schaefer and Phill Slavik over 5 years ago, has provided a solid event in the Midwest Region to support both the
Italian car and bike industry and the people who drive and admire those fine vehicles. The process to advance the event each year has been the
direct result of years of passion for everything Italian, and, because of that, success has followed, and will continue for years to come. This year,
despite it’s unfortunate weather, still had a strong showing – it provided many owners the opportunity to bring out their fine Italian vehicles – no
matter the marque.
The event, as in previous years, was held at The Lake Calhoun Executive Center in Minneapolis, MN. After the excellent weather the weeks prior
to the event, the day of the event, September 10, was in line to have a great turnout. However, that was not the case when Dan Schaefer woke
to a cold, damp, and windy Sunday. The rain did not keep owners and admirers home, though. Several dealerships and their representatives, and
owners of all types of Italian vehicles were present. Chris Kelly and other representatives from Premier Motorcars were in attendance, along with
their 2005 Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster. In fact, Premier Motorcars sold their 2005 Murcie to a long-time admirer at the Wheels of Italy
show. A few other Lamborghini owners braved the weather and ended up having a good time at the show. Next year, hopefully the weather will
be more agreeable, and provide an even better turnout!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Was this the weather that we were facing for our fourth Wheels of Italy show? I couldn’t believe it, of all the days it had to be the worst for a show – well,
maybe except for a blizzard! No way are people going to bring out their Italian cars and bikes and no way would the public come; even though it’s all free.
The WOI team arrived; all with bewildered look on their faces looking for…well I don’t know, inspiration on, “How not to be bummed out!?”
The WOI team got busy—setting up for the 10am start time and hoping for the best. Around 9:20am, a few cars and motorcycles drove in and
got situated. We helped a gentleman with his 50’s Stanguellini, a Barchetta (no hard or soft top) that had a new interior installed just the day
before. More and more arrived and we had a bunch of vehicles by 10am…and tons more throughout the day; all on this on a cold, windy, rainy
day! The team was pumped, getting compliments from everyone as they were very surprised at the great turnout. The vehicles looked gorgeous
with the water beading and light refracting on surfaces that had not seen rain in many years…if ever!
It’s impossible to tell you how happy we were along with everyone that experienced the day. The spectators, vendors, and vehicle owners all had
a great time. When I look back at the blur of the day, I’m glad it rained all day: it showed me, and the world, that Italian vehicle owners aren’t
snobs, wimps or whatever stereotype you can come up with, but have a very deep passion for what they own.
For more information on the WOI event, and to take a look at some of the great vehicles for yourself, go to www.WheelsOfItaly.com
Thanks to all, Ciao!
Lamborghini presents the Gallardo Nera at the Paris Motor Show
Automobili Lamborghini has unveiled its new, exclusive model, the “Gallardo Nera”, which is based on the Gallardo Coupé
Model Year 07. This special edition model, limited to 185 units, is an impressive showcase for the extensive individualisation options offered by Lamborghini’s personalisation service “ad personam”, which transforms each and every Lamborghini into a
unique vehicle.
Ad personam provides a wealth of options for enhancing the interior and body of the vehicle according to specific personal tastes.
Other individualisation requirements can also be met, such as special colour paintwork. This allows the customer to create a
unique sports car that reflects his personality and satisfies his own style down to the smallest detail.
The Lamborghini Gallardo Nera, which is available in the basic colours “Nero Serapis” and “Nero Noctis”, features special paintwork in matt black on the side mirrors, rear spoiler, rear body panels, roof, selected front panels and on the door sills and rear
apron. Additional details such as matt black rims in the “Callisto” design with the Lamborghini logo, brake callipers in silver,
white side indicator lenses and darkened tail lights complement the martial look of the exterior.
The interior is styled in the colours “Nero Perseus” and “Bianco Polar” using the “bicolour sportive” equipment variant. A further
“Branding Package” and the ad personam equipment package provide additional distinctive touches. The “Leather II” variant in
“Bianco Polar” includes leather trims for the climate control operating panel, handbrake and gear lever console in addition to the
inner door handles and seat side cushions. The seats boast rhomboidal stitching in the “Q-citura” pattern, which can also be found
on the Alcantara roof lining, door trims and the partition wall between the seats and the engine compartment. Instrument rings and
decorative stitching on the steering wheel, plus white piping on the seats and mats, round off the modifications in the interior.
The Lamborghini Gallardo Nera includes, as standard, a navigation system, rearview camera, on-board computer, alarm system,
lifting system and a made-tomeasure vehicle cover. Optional equipment for the model includes the e-gear automatic transmission,
an engine hood with transparent glass panels, a Bluetooth-compatible radio and carbon-ceramic brakes.
Like the Lamborghini Gallardo Coupè MY07, the Lamborghini Gallardo “Nera” boasts the established V10-cylinder engine with a
displacement of 4,961 cc and an output of 382 kW (520 hp). It sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 4 seconds, and reaches a top speed of
315 km/h. The drive train of the mid-engine sports car includes permanent all-wheel drive, based on Lamborghini’s proven VT
(viscous traction) system.
Concorso d'Italia at the Grosse Pointe Academy
The Concorso d’Italia at the Grosse Pointe Academy in Michigan, held Sunday, September 10, saw quite a few Lamborghinis, among other Italian
marques. Although this was the first year for the Grosse Pointe location,
the event just celebrated its 6th anniversary. In years past, the Concorso
d’Italia has taken place at Meadow Brook, on the campus of Oakland University.
This year, Randy Cox and Frank Campanale served as Co-Chairmen for the
event and members of the Steering Committee included Jeff Cauley, Dick
Ruzzin, Bob Capps, and Scott Bufé; everyone put in exceptional planning and
creative work to put on an excellent show!
On Saturday evening, the traditional “Bellisima Festa” festivities took place at
Cauley Ferrari-Maserati in West Bloomfield, Michigan. Over 350 people
attended the event, and Italian cars were in abundance! Jeff Cauley had the
new Maserati MC-12 flown in specifically for the event so visitors could get
up close and personal with the now-available street version.
Cars started arriving as early as 7am on Sunday morning for the Concorso
event. By 10am, the field was full with several Italian marques. 74 cars in
total were in attendance for the event, including a beautiful yellow Gallardo
Spyder that Richard Bell from Lamborghini Troy brought with him. Tubi
Style USA was also on hand to demonstrate their exhaust system on their
Ferrari. Of course, Franc from Tubi was available to speak with the many
visitors. On a separate note, Franc had Tubi shirts with “My 3 Favorite
Words: MADE IN ITALY” on the back – it is probably one of the best shirts
we have seen this year.
The weather was cool, but it ultimately held out and the rain stayed away
for the entirety of the show. This year, included with the admission ticket,
was open access to an array of fine Italian foods provided by Carmela foods.
The concept was very well received, and will be repeated for years to come.
All proceeds from the event went to charity. The Concorso d’Italia was a
great event all around, and provided local Italian car owners an opportunity
to get their cars out and enjoy them for the day. It was nice to mingle with
other Italian car owners and hear their stories of how they came to own
their car, and their love for Italian cars.
Plans for the 2007 Concorso d’Italia are already underway and it can only
get better than it has been!
Sincerely
Randy Cox
Lamborghini Driving Academy at Mach One to Three – track experiences and Lamborghini
A driver training as extreme as the Sant’ Agata super sports cars themselves: that is what the Lamborghini Academy is all about.
Following the highly successful Winter Academy, Automobili Lamborghini has launched its Track Experiences programme for
the autumn of 2006, available to both Lamborghini customers and those who wish to experience the adrenaline of driving a high
performance car to the best of their abilities. Three different track-based programmes have been developed to allow drivers to
the course names are an indication of the dynamics the participants will face: Mach 1, Mach 2 and Mach 3.
Under the expert guidance of professional instructors, students will conquer the famous Italian racetracks of either Mugello or
Misano, depending on the course they select.
Maximum driving experience is assured: a fleet of fully prepared Gallardo cars is optimised for the circuit, and participants limited to 16 in each group. Students are supported in the learning process by telemetric timekeeping throughout, with a theory session preceding every course. The only condition for participation is a valid driving
licence.
The courses in detail:
Mach 1
A one-day course aimed at safe driving, acquainting participants with high speeds and the racetrack in Misano. The programme
establishes a correct driver position and includes intensive handling exercises. Dates 26 and 27 October 2006. Price per participant, including night at the Hotel Riviera Golf and Resort, Euro 3.960.
