The American International Motorcycle Expo fired up for the first time in
2013 at a key moment in the powersports market. In the wake of the global
financial crisis of 2008, the industry and retailers were reorganizing to a new
economic reality, and the market was searching for a needed injection of energy
and enthusiasm. While America is one of the world's largest recreational
powersports markets, it lacked one combined and dynamic industry gathering
that could energize and showcase new products to media, retailers and
consumers, as the big European shows like Italy's EICMA, and Germany's
INTERMOT have done for decades.
Enter the concept of AIMExpo – gathering all North American
constituents of motorcycling and powersports in one place, at one time. Reveal
new products – OEM and aftermarket – to a gathered media presence.
Showcase those same new products to retailers and other international buyers.
Following two trade and media only days, cap it all off with two consumer days,
letting enthusiasts see everything that’s new in-person, RIGHT NOW, not in a few
months.
In only three shows AIMExpo has grown to nearly 600 exhibitors, 300
members of the press and more than 11,000 consumers, and remains poised
for continued growth with its acquisition by the Motorcycle Industry Council in
the fall of 2015. Now a part of the industry’s trade association, AIMExpo is also
poised to leverage the power of MIC’s combined membership to increase dealer
and consumer attendance.

The MIC Connection
The Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC) exists to preserve, protect and promote
motorcycling through government relations, communications and media relations,
statistics and research, aftermarket programs, development of data communications
standards, and activities surrounding technical and regulatory issues. As a not-for-profit,
national industry association, the MIC seeks to support motorcyclists by representing
manufacturers, distributors, dealers and retailers of motorcycles, scooters, ATVs, ROVs,
motorcycle/ATV/ROV parts, accessories and related goods and services, and members
of allied trades such as insurance, finance and investment companies, media companies
and consultants.
The MIC is headquartered in Irvine, Calif., with a government relations office in metropolitan
Washington, D.C. First called the MIC in 1970, the organization has been in operation since
1914.
With the MIC’s acquisition of the American International Motorcycle Expo (AIMExpo) last fall,
both the industry's trade association and premier trade show united for the greater benefit
of MIC members and the powersports industry as a whole.
