QUO VADIS HOLIDAYS BOUTIQUE EUROPEAN HOLIDAYS for 30s to 40s “Winter Wanderlust” 14 Days Paris to Munich Departing January 3 2016 Day 5 Thurs 7 Jan NICE/FRENCH RIVIERA First up today the option to visit the nearby quaint hilltop fortified village of St Paul de Vence. Famous for its art galleries, medieval walls, cobblestoned alleyways and pedestrian streets, time to explore this enchanting French village. Perhaps even try your hand at “boules”! Returning to Nice, some free time to explore and shop before our highlight afternoon and evening trip along the famed cornice roads from Nice to Monaco. Stopping at medieval Eze village along the way for incredible views of the Mediterranean we finally reach the world’s smallest Principality. Time to see the Palace, Old Town, dine and even have a gamble at one of Monte Carlo’s classy casinos all amongst the rich and famous. (B) Day 6 Fri 8 Jan NICE to FLORENCE Following the coast of the Mediterranean, we cross into Italy where we visit the town of Pisa for a quick photo stop of it’s “Leaning Tower” in The Field of Miracles. Later we arrive in beautiful Renaissance Florence. Tonight perhaps join us for an optional dinner set in the hills above Florence in a wonderful local ristorante. Perhaps even try the famous local monks “Imperial Drops”!? (B) Day 7 Day 1 Sun 3 Jan ARRIVE PARIS Welcome to Paris! After making your way to our tour hotel and checking in, time to settle in and relax. Later this afternoon we enjoy a Welcome Drink and quick tour briefing. We then head to the banks of the River Seine for an included river dinner cruise and see some of Paris’ most famed sites such as Notre Dame Cathedral, the immense Facades of the Louvre and Place de la Concorde. Afterwards we ascend to the second level of the Eiffel Tower for panoramic views over the city. We then finish the evening with an illuminations tour, a perfect introduction to the ‘City of Light’ (HD) Day 2 Mon 4 Jan PARIS A free day to explore beautiful Paris at your own leisure. So much to see and do! Perhaps visit the Louvre – world’s largest museum, with famous exhibits including the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo. This evening you may wish to enjoy our final night in Paris with dinner and drinks at a cabaret in the famed Pigalle district, an evening of exciting acts and wonderful Parisian entertainment. (B) Sat 9 Jan FLORENCE A guided walking tour with local expert this morning shows us all the main sights including the Duomo, Giotto’s bell tower and the beautiful Baptistery. Then visit Signoria Square, filled with works of art and finally pause in Sante Croce square, overlooked by its basilica, the final resting place of Galileo, Dante and Michelangelo. Afterwards, perhaps join an optional excursion for a guided tour to the Academy Gallery to see Michelangelo’s amazing Statue of David. The remainder of the day is then free at leisure to enjoy this beautiful Renaissance city. Perhaps shop for Florentine leather and gold or continue sightseeing at your own pace in search of the perfect gelati or Florentine steak! (B) Day 8 Sun 10 Jan FLORENCE to VENICE Heading northeastwards to the Adriatic Gulf we arrive at the lagoon famous for “La Serenissima”- Venice. Transferring to the island of Giudecca, home of our Hilton Stucky hotel overlooking Venice Island. This afternoon a guided walking tour of Venice before free time to explore this amazing city. Perhaps join an optional excursion of “Venice by Night” – traditional wooden “motoscafi“ whisk us up the Grand Canal past the Rialto Bridge with all the twinkling lights of the beautiful Palazzi. Afterwards, a drink at a famous café in St Marks Square whilst listening to the violinists and orchestras entertaining the crowds. (B) 4$0)5&'(&#)*+,& Day 3 Tues 5 Jan PARIS to LYON Departing Paris, we drive into the heart of the Burgundy and Beaujolais wine regions to the medieval town of Beaune. Here we enjoy wine tasting at a local chateau before continuing to the city of Lyon, the gastronomic heart of France. Our orientation tour shows us the 19th century elegance of the Place Bellecour, the Old Town and also the Rivers Saone and Rhone. An evening at leisure to explore the many amazing local restaurants or “bouchon” of this famed city. (B) Day 4 Wed 6 Jan LYON to NICE (FRENCH RIVIERA) Time to quickly visit the famous Paul Bocuse food markets before we catch the TGV (fast train) south to the beautiful French Riviera on the sparkling Mediterranean for two nights. Here we stay in the elegant resort of Nice and this evening take an orientation walk around the “Vieux Ville” (Old Town). (B) -.#)%.&/0$#1&2$#$3& Day 9 Mon 11 Jan VENICE Day 10 Tues 12 Jan VENICE to MILAN A morning at leisure to sleep-in or take the complimentary hotel boat across the waterway back onto Venice to explore further this uniquely preserved city. This afternoon the option to join a trip out into the lagoon where we pass the glassmaking island of Murano and visit the colourful fisherman’s island of Burano and enjoy wonderful seafood specialties at a local ristorante. (B) Departing the lagoon we head westward and arrive to the city of fair Verona. Time for lunch and to visit the famous “Juliet’s balcony”. Explore the beautiful squares and piazzas of this medieval town before continuing on to the fashion capitol of the world, Milan. Upon arrival an orientation walk of the Cathedral, main square and beautiful Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. (B) Day 11 !"#$%"&'(&#)*+,& Wed 13 Jan MILAN to LUCERNE Passing the Italian Lakes district we cross the border into stunning Switzerland. We stop in the quaint alpine village of Engelberg and take a journey up the rotating cable car to snow-capped Titlus at 3240m. Time to visit the glacier, snowfields and mountain restaurants before free-time back in Engelberg. Perhaps join a traditional horse and sleigh ride around the village complete with snacks and local drinks? Afterwards we take the short drive to beautiful Lucerne visiting the moving Lion Monument on arrival. Later, Swiss culture and food at its very best at our included highlight dinner and Swiss show in the heart of town. (B,HD) Europe !"#,.&2$03"& Day 12 Thurs 14 Jan LUCERNE A full day at leisure to explore the quaint back streets, little squares and medieval fortifications of beautiful Lucerne. Time to relax or shop for Swiss souvenirs such as cheese, chocolate and precision Swiss watches. (B) Day 13 Fri 15 Jan LUCERNE to MUNICH Departing Switzerland we enter the tiny Principality of Liechtenstein for a quick rest stop. Continuing on into Austria, then crossing into Germany we visit the most photographed building in all of Germany, Neuschwanstein Castle. Perhaps try a “würst” or Black Forest Cake before we enter this stunning castle built by the “Mad King”, Ludwig II. Continuing northward we reach the capitol of Bavaria, Munich. A quick orientation walk of its streets before arriving at its most-famed venue for our final Highlight Dinner, the Hofbrauhaus! A big night together on our last evening of our “Winter Wanderlust” trip. Prost! Try Söll, Brixen, Scheffau, Ellmau, Westerndorf or quaint and quiet Kelchsau. Perhaps hit the 12km long run from Hohe Salve peak to the village in Itter? Tonight maybe join us for schnaps and tobogganing from halfway up the mountain on Hopfgarten’s (or Söll’s) specially made, lit toboggan tracks! Always a huge highlight of any trip to the Austrian Alps! (B,D) END MUNICH or start 7-DAY SKI WEEK: DEPART for HOPFGARTEN Sadly, our trip finishes after breakfast. Time for you to explore Munich’s wonderful shopping areas or prepare for your onwards journey or trip home. (B) For those joining the 7-day “Ski Austria” extension trip, our transfer departs at 1:00pm so some time for last minute shopping in Munich before our departure for the Austrian Alps. Crossing the border back into Austria, we head into the beautiful Brixen Valley and arrive at the quaint, traditional Tyrolean village of Hopfgarten. Located at the base of the Hohe Salve peak and mountain range, its one of 9 villages that make up the huge Skiwelt ski area with 91 lifts and 280 kms of runs! Our 7-night stay here will show us why winter holidays in Austria are a must! Upon arrival, time to get kitted up for the next 6 days of snow action and an orientation of the quaint town centre. An information session and Welcome Drink before dinner tonight at a traditional Tyrolean restaurant. (B,HD) Days 17 – 19 Tues 19 – Thurs 21 Jan HOPFGARTEN After more full days on the slopes, why not join a trip one evening to the beautiful and ritzy nearby ski village of Kitzbühel. Famed for its “Hahnenkam” ski race, the worlds oldest downhill ski race. Explore the beautiful cobble-stoned streets, cafes, bar and après skiing of this famous and exciting resort. Alternatively if you want a break from the snow, take a trip to nearby Salzburg or Innsbruck, both renowned for their typical Austrian beauty nestled in the Alps. Why not take the ski-shuttle 20minutes up another valley to quaint and quiet Kelchsau. A hidden little, quiet old-style ski resort where it’s not unusual to have a whole run to yourself! Plenty of room for fast, wide turns or to explore off-thebeaten-track to find that hidden powder snow and traditional mountain huts and restaurants. (B,D) Day 20 Fri 22 Jan HOPFGARTEN Our final day on the slopes. Try and ski or board as far as you can. Perhaps right out to Ellmau for incredible views of the mighty Wilder Kaiser mountain range. Tonight, for our last night, join us for a traditional “schweinshaxe” (pork knuckle) at one of the best restaurants in the heart of town. Complete with traditional sauerkraut, dumplings and a couple of local Austrian beers and schnaps! A fitting way to end a huge week on the slopes of Austria. (B,HD) Day 15 Sun 17 Jan HOPFGARTEN This morning we begin our adventure onto the slopes of Hopfgarten. Included in your trip is a 6 day Skiwelt lift pass to give you access to Austria’s largest interconnected ski area! Book in for lessons, explore this vast area on your own or take a Ski Safari to get to know this huge ski area better. Plenty of beautiful traditional mountain huts and restaurants to try in the Skiwelt, which comprises 9 different villages. For those wanting to join in Austria’s famous “après-skiing” then your Tour Director will give advice each day where we’ll be meeting-up to catch up on all the days action and perhaps a glühwein or a schnaps!
