Nokonah Condominiums
Nokonah Condominiums FALL/WINTER 2011 Dear Residents, It seems that this year has literally flown by. As most of you know at the Annual Board meeting the owners approved the purchase of a few new pieces of gym equipment. These have been ordered and should arrive within the next 4 to 5 weeks. Personal Trainer, Tobi Taub has offered to demonstrate to residents how to use the new equipment. I will distribute notices to let you know when her demonstration will take place. This will help you get the full results from each piece of equipment. The Nokonah Holiday party will be December 7th beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the clubroom. Bess Bistro and Walton’s Fancy and Staple restaurant will cater again this year. I am looking forward to seeing all of you there. Please RSVP to the front desk. Notices have been sent out for the option of using coupons, not using coupons or using the auto draft option for paying your association due. Thanks to all of you who have responded. This does help us save time and money. We have a few new staff members with us; Megan Wick-Albert and Pete Villarreal. Megan works some evening shifts during the week and on Saturdays. Pete is working the Friday evening shift and the overnight shift on Saturday. Please stop by and say “hi”. They are both a wonderful addition to our Nokonah family. I look forward to another wonderful year here at Nokonah. If you are in need of any assistance please do not hesitate to call me. Happy Holidays, Jeanne Marks Building Director Community Buzz Nokonah Library Book Exchange. There are a lot of book readers at the Nokonah, as reflected in the usage of the Nokonah Library Book Exchange. There may be some new residents who have moved in over the past several months that have not heard about it. If that applies to you, here is an update on the program. The Nokonah Library Exchange is located in the common area (2 nd floor) behind the small kitchen. There is a bookshelf there that contains books that Nokonah residents have donated. The basic idea is for any resident to donate a book when you’re done with it, or take a book to read if you want. There is not a tracking system or anything like that. You do not need to “fill out a form” or” join the library”. It is totally on the honor system. You take a book? You donate a book! It is that simple. There is one additional thing that I would like to add as a request. Please do not think of the library exchange as a place to donate lots of your books at one time. Because the space is so limited, we encourage residents to select books that you have read that especially appealed to you. The library was never intended to be a place where you bring dozens of your books at one time. As an avid reader myself, and a member of a book club, I sometimes am reluctant to turn loose of one of my favorites. Now, I have come to feel happy when I notice that someone here at the Nokonah is reading “my” book. You will find all kinds of books there! History, fiction, sports, how to, classics, philosophy – whatever your interests. I think it reflects our eclectic tastes here at the Nokonah. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding the book exchange. A big thanks to all of you that have donated books. I have just finished The Hummingbird’s Daughter, and want to tell the person that donated it that I enjoyed reading that book with my book club. I just returned it to the shelf and I’m ready for another one. Happy Reading! Maggie Olmstead, Unit #104 As the holiday season approaches, you may want to consider booking your social gatherings or meetings here at the building. Please contact the front desk to reserve the conference room or the clubroom today. Dear Residents The Nokonah has a strict “no tipping” policy; however, twice a year we provide residents with the opportunity to donate to the staff appreciation fund in June and December. This fund is only for the Concierge and Maintenance staff; as the Building Director, I will not participate in the appreciation gratuity. They are an outstanding staff and I hope all of you will make a contribution. I will fairly distribute the appreciation funds to the staff on December 15, 2011. If you would like to donate, please make your check payable to Nokonah Condo Association and deposit it into the HOA drop box. Please write “Staff Fund” on the memo line.
