Why NEHR Kit - DETROIT SPEEDCRAFT
Page 1 of 3 NEHR Speedcraft’s Kit is a Good Value...Here’s Why Common Kit Problems We have gained legitimate knowledge of hot rod kits during the past several years and have come across common problems with almost all kits. There are many little things that can create big issues for the novice car builder and we have taken actions to address these concerns. As an example, where does the battery go? How is it locked in place? We have a fully integrated and welded battery box in our kit. What brake system components are sized to the car and work properly? Some The NEHR Speedcraft roadster! kits will have issues with driveline vibration, steering shake, harsh ride because they want you to choose the parts from a generic menu and then it’s your problem. If the kit you are buying hasn’t been engineered to addressed these issues you probably will not be able to either. NEHR Speedcraft’s Engineered System Solves Problems The NEHR Speedcraft kit is an engineered system with a wide range of components that make it one of the most complete kits available today. As an engineered system, our vehicle is designed to deliver superior ride and drive characteristics. Most kits are only a collection of parts that are incomplete and require special fitting and welding. Some kits are intentionally incomplete, necessitating buying components throughout the build process as you discover what you have and don’t have. This of course delays your build and adds cost you hadn’t budgeted for. Bare this in mind as you catalog shop and review prices. The NEHR Speedcraft kit at first glance may seem more expensive (it really isn’t when you compare apples to apples) what you are getting is a more inclusive kit. Most kits don’t include a fuel tank, radiator with electric fan, windshield system, complete brake system, steering system, interior kit, battery mount, pedals, seats and seat risers, complete rear axle, seat belt mounts, and much more…our kit Complete rear axle with new brakes, fuel tank, windshield, and even does. No one TIG welds their kits...we do! headers are all components included in our engineered system. For example, many kits come with an empty axle housing. By the time you purchase a differential and brakes you could be adding another $1800 to your project. Proper Ergonomics Proper ergonomics and T-buckets have never been seen in the same sentence, much less designed into a vehicle. We have invested considerable time and effort to make our turn-key cars and kits feel and function like the car you drive every day. Most T-buckets have very odd pedals, seat, and steering arrangements that require relearning and new instincts. In a panic situation this lack of ergonomic design could be fatal. Because of our dual kick-up frame design, we are able to mount the body on top of the frame rails and not have the body channeled over the frame. This frees up more space and allows you to sit lower into the body and not on top of it! We designed our seats and risers to have the correct angle so seating comfort is achieved. The right amount of foot space area View of our foot space area designed for proper ergonomics. is possible with the incorporation of our “speed blister” on the driver’s side of the body. This lets us arrange the pedals with the correct spacing and step-over. The steering comes at you through the dash board like a normal car and not through the floor and your crotch like an antique bus! All these things work together to create a “familiar” ergonomic package that makes driving your hot rod comfortable and safe. Kit Completion Rates Another important issue is the completion rate of a kit. NEHR Speedcraft has nearly 100% of its kits completed by our customers. We design them to be completed! As other kits are intentionally incomplete, there are some companies that also are betting that you will never complete your kit. This is where ride/drive characteristics and kit completeness are irrelevant, because the vehicle will never see the road. Research on completion rates have revealed rates as low as 3%! This business model feeds off your excitement and desire to build a hot rod at a cheap price and then the disinterest that eventually sets in after frustrating attempts to complete it. After time, you look back and say, “what the heck, it was only $5,000. I’ll sell it off to somebody for a few grand and call it a day.” In the end, the company made a $5,000 sale and it makes no difference to them if you ever realized your dream of building a hot rod or not. By the way, we actually answer the phone. Please take the time to review and understand everything you get in our kit. Also keep in mind we fully appreciate the investment of hard earned money to purchase one of our kits or turn-key cars. We want you to enjoy that investment! In just over 10 months, Branch Richardson of North Carolina took his HOT ROD in a BOX from a pre-assembled kit to what you see in the photo above. The father and son team of Richard and Derek Brooks of Virginia finished their ’23 HOT ROD in a BOX Kit in just under a year. It took Baker College of Michigan about a year to get their car ready for the 2012 Detroit Autorama. In 10 months, John Ireland of Idaho was able to get his ’27 roadster on the road.
