Imagine going along a quiet country lane, by a hanging wooded sign
entering a gate set in a photinia and rambling rose hedge and
discovering a quiet private cottage (almost the size of an average
house) set in a beautiful garden - and you are just 12 minutes from
Queenstown.
Imagine this historic 1870’s cottage lovingly restored and filled with
rural “Kiwi” memorabilia - and every modern convenience including
central heating. Directly below the Coronet Peak Ski Area which
fills the view to the north.
Imagine relaxing in front of the huge open fire, the natural textures
and rustic charm just fold around you. It is all yours - exclusive
occupancy. Single party booking, including two bedrooms. Your
hosts, Terry and Erina, are in a separate cottage 50 metres away,
ready to pamper you as much as you desire or leave you to total
privacy.
Imagine sitting on the sunny deck surrounded by myriads of flowers
overflowing from dozens of hanging baskets and rustic containers
or soaking in the jacuzzi under the apple trees.
“Why just imagine?”

The Cardrona Hotel is one of New Zealand’s oldest hotels, established
in 1863 when the gold in the Cardrona Valley attracted thousands of
diggers all eager to stake their claim. The settlement of Cardrona was,
at its peak, home to some 5000 miners, a number of illegal bootlegging
haunts and eight drinking establishments.
To enter the Cardrona Hotel is like stepping back in time with her
historical ambience and warmth, charming thousands of local and
international visitors who are drawn to her on an annual basis.
Cardrona is located 40 minutes from Queenstown and 20 minutes from
Wanaka. The hotel is nestled at the base of the Cardrona Alpine Ski
Resort and rugged Otago high country.
It’s a world away at the doorstep
of both Wanaka and Queenstown.
The Cardrona Hotel has modern facilities while retaining the charm and
character of yesteryear. Each of the 16 Double Rooms has an ensuite.
Other facilities include a fully licensed restaurant and bar with cosy open
fires, a large cottage garden area with outdoor fires, a museum and lots
of ambience.
The hotel is an ideal venue for weddings, private functions and weekend
retreats.
