1984 - 2014 : Lagoon is only 30! Press information kit - January 2014 2014: Lagoon is only 30! Time passes so quickly, yet life goes on, with its twists, turns and future plans. Lagoon has changed greatly over the past 30 years too, with innovation firmly in its sights. Our aim has been to surprise, of course, but always with a view to offering improved services, greater comfort and better performance. This is why innovation is at the heart of everything we do, whether it's drawing up specifications for our boats or strengthening ties with our clients and distributors. In just thirty years, Lagoon has become a pioneer in building catamarans using an infusion-moulding technique, designed a saloon with vertical glazing for the Lagoon 410, established itself as THE manufacturer of catamarans with flybridges, launched the Lagoon 380 (which was and still is the most successful catamaran on the market), innovated with the Lagoon 420 Hybrid, become a world leader in manufacturing cruising catamarans, developed a series of 8 models ranging from 38 to 62’ to meet its clients' every need and revolutionised the deck layout of cruising catamarans with the latest Lagoon 39 and 52 models. But of course, we're forgetting a crucial ingredient... In just 30 years, Lagoon Attitude has become a key part of our brand, incorporating Lagoon(s) magazine (provided exclusively for owners of our boats), Lagoon Escapades (meetings of Lagoon owners held all over the world) and the Lagoon-inside.com blog, a recent innovation from Club Lagoon, which now has over 300 members! So, as these 30 years draw to a close, we want only one thing, have only one dream – to enjoy another 30 happy years with our clients! LAGOON 2014: Lagoon is only 30! Lagoon has been making cruising catamarans since 1984. Over the years, Lagoon has developed real expertise in building catamarans. Making the most of space for exceptional comfort, design, high quality construction and responsiveness to our clients' needs are the main principles underpinning our approach that have helped to establish the brand's reputation. A world leader in its field since 2003 (with nearly 3,000 boats built to date), the hulls of all boats in Lagoon's range are designed by Marc Van Peteghem and Vincent Lauriot Prévost (VPLP), naval architects whose achievements in designing multihull boats are unprecedented. Lagoon offers the widest range of sailing catamaran cruisers on the market, with each of its models available in several versions. This range is sold by a network of nearly 80 passionate, specialist distributors worldwide. The network is expanding year on year and Lagoon now has a strong presence in emerging markets such as Brazil, China and India. In September 2012, Lagoon exhibited the 'central galley' version of the Lagoon 620 and the new Lagoon 400 S2 for the first time at the Grand Pavois boat show in La Rochelle. In October, it was the turn of the new Lagoon 52, which was launched in Bordeaux and caused a real stir in the world of cruising catamarans. Similarly, the Lagoon 39, with naval architecture by VPLP and interiors by Nauta Design, was unveiled at the Paris and Düsseldorf boat shows. At a presentation in Cannes last September, Lagoon was announcing some major new projects : the Lagoon 560S2, the 620 Motor Yacht, as well as a teaser for the future Lagoon 7MA! The Lagoon 560 S2 is designed for entertaining. This is reflected in the roomy interiors, with a new saloon layout in the central galley version, as well as a brand new four-cabin version with a lateral galley (located in the portside hull) and a truly spacious saloon. Once again, these additional versions were created by Nauta Design. Lagoon innovations Lagoon Motor Yachts 620 Motor Yacht a new approach to Motor Yacht cruising Many sailors would like to broaden their horizons with a Motor Yacht that offers a large cruising range and good performance while preserving comfort and peace of mind. Lagoon, VPLP naval architects (Van Peteghem-Lauriot Prévost) and Nauta Design set about resolving this issue and concluded that far and away the best solution would be to adapt the efficient hull of a catamaran such as the Lagoon 620, an international bestseller in its size category whose sailing qualities have been clearly proven. This decision resulted in the 620 Motor Yacht concept: a luxurious motor yacht designed as well for long and secure offshore crossings, as for day coastal cruising. The prototype is planned to hit the water in early summer 2014. It has diamond-shaped vertical bows, bevelled hulls, a 'suspended' deckhouse and streamlined rigging, but its originality does not stop at its outward appearance or even its internal layout. The sometimes radical choices that we made in designing this boat reflect our desire to remain faithful to what we believe in, whether in terms of style, comfort, safety, user-friendliness or – it goes without saying – performance under sail. 4 cabin version The Lagoon range Launched Length overall Waterline length Beam overall 2012 15.84 m 15.60 m 8.60 m Naval architects Interior design EC certification VPLP Nauta Design A 14; B 14; C 16; D 30 5 cabin version 6 cabin version 560 S2 4 cabin version with central galley The Lagoon range The Lagoon 560 gave Lagoon a strong lead in terms of comfort, ergonomics and style, combining the world-renowned talents of the architectural firm VPLP and the Nauta Design consultants. It therefore seemed logical for Lagoon, a world leader in building cruising catamarans, and CNB to join forces and develop a new generation of catamarans for their respective clients – bigger, better, more 'CNB' superyachts... With expertise in both aluminium and high-tech composite, CNB is one of only a handful of manufacturers that allows its clients to choose the material best suited to their sailing plan. The biggest names in naval architecture have joined forces with Lagoon and CNB to design these sail or motordriven super-catamarans, including Marc Van Peteghem and Vincent Lauriot Prévost, Philippe Brand, Bill Dixon and Berret-Racoupeau Yacht Design. Several projects drawn up for Lagoon Custom have attracted potential clients, with discussions on specifications and costs already well under way. www.lagoon-custom.com Dixon Sail 95’ Philippe Briand 90’ Lagoon on the international circuit Photo: Bozo - Cropix LAGOON Lagoon on the international circuit Toronto Int´l Boat Show Canada 11 to 19 January 2014 Boot Düsseldorf Allemagne 18 au 26 January 2014 - Lagoon 52 Vancouver Int´l Boat Show Canada 22 to 26 January 2014 - Lagoon 400 S2 San Diego Sunroad BS USA 23 to 26 January 2014 - Lagoon 39, Lagoon 400 S2 San Francisco Int´l Boat Show USA 23 to 26 January 2014 - Lagoon 450 Seattle Boat Show USA 24 January to 2 February 2014 - Lagoon 39 Strictly Sail Miami International Boat Show USA 13 to 17 February 2014 - Lagoon 39, 450, 52, 620 Moscow boat show Russia 11 to 16 March 2014 Sjoen for alle, Oslo indoor Boat Show Norway 12 to 16 March 2014 Hainan Rendez-vous China 27 to 30 March 2014 - Lagoon 450, 52, 560 Shanghai International Boat Show China 10 au 13 April 2014 Singapore International Yacht Show Singapore 10 au 13 April2014 - Lagoon 400, 620 Salon international du Multicoque France 23 to 27 April 2014 - Lagoon 39, 450, 52, 560 S2 Major shows Photos: Nicolas Claris 162, quai de Brazza CS 81217 33072 Bordeaux - France Tel. +33 (0) 557 80 92 80 Email: [email protected] www.cata-lagoon.com
