The kayakers will have their regular
paddle date, but also have a fine trip
to Mount Dora. It can be two or three
nights and has a variety of paddles to
choose from. The day boaters have a
trip scheduled for Barnacle Phil's,
another PGBC favorite, usually with
an opportunity to spot wildlife.
A Message from
Phyllis & Vince Adamaitis
Commodore
Phyllis Adamaitis
Spring has sprung, and another busy
month at the PGBC has begun! The
weather is warming, the severe low
winter tides are starting to abate, and
the spring breezes should bring milder
sailing conditions. The April schedule
brings so many possibilities for every
kind of club member.
Kicking off events early this month is
our trek to Franklin Locks State Park.
There are four boat slips that can be
reserved and four available as a 1st
come 1st serve. And if those eight fill
up they have dolphins for mooring
which are just a short dinghy ride to
the picnic area. If you have an RV or
tent, you can rent a campsite and join
the fun. There are always good food
and games available on this trip.
Last but not least is the trip to the
Florida Keys. This is a trip which you
can custom fit to your availability, boat
travel speed, and whatever weather
conditions that might be encountered.
It will feature "meeting points" where
boaters can arrive at their own pace
and either drop the hook or go to a
marina. This promises to be a great
adventure.
So, put the captains’ meetings on your
calendar, get the full scoop, and sign
up for one or more of these fabulous
trips that have been planned for you.
The big social event is the annual
Commodores Picnic which is famous
for good food and games. As is the
tradition it will be hosted by the past
commodores and their spouses. This
is definitely a must do if you are in
town.
There is a trip planned to Ft Myers for
lunch at the Wisteria Tea Room and a
visit to the Butterfly Estates. Another
session of line dancing will begin and
there will be a Games Day and Yoga
session. Check out the calendar and
plan to join in the fun of one or more
of these events.
Once again, I would like to let our
volunteers know how much they are
appreciated. You may have noticed
our shiny, shiny floors. We had a
great group of hard working members
perform a huge spring cleaning chore
by scrubbing, scraping, sanding, sealing, and waxing the clubhouse floors.
We even received a call from the
Charlotte County Wood Carvers complimenting us on how beautiful the
floors look, the best they have ever
seen them. Thank you for completing
a much needed job. WELL DONE!
Just a hint about keeping those floors
looking good: it was suggested at the
last business meeting that to help
keep the floors at their best you
should wheel the trash barrels across
the floor rather than dragging trash
bags which have the potential to leak
and stain the floor. Once at the door
or just outside remove the bags to
haul to the dumpsters. Rolling the
barrels to the dumpsters will just wear
out the wheels and track more dirt
inside.
Let's enjoy this beautiful spring
weather together, at the club and on
the water!

OUR NEWEST MEMBERS
Five new couples joined the Club effective March. If you see them around the Club please introduce yourselves and make them
feel welcome.
Tom and Barbara Connors
Tom and Barbara are originally from Weymouth, Massachusetts, where
they both worked for New England Telephone Co., and raised their family.
After Tom retired from AT&T, they became snowbirds between Weymouth
MA and Siesta Key in Sarasota, FL.
Just recently they moved to their home in Punta Gorda so that they could
spend more time boating. Since moving both Tom and Barbara are taking
full advantage of the Florida amenities. They enjoy walking, biking, boating,
fishing and golf.

Their greatest joy is having friends and family down for visits, especially the
grandkids. In addition, they enjoy taking cruises to see the world.
Mitch and Diane Resnick
Mitch and Diane met at the University of Rhode Island. Raising their two
children, they have lived in Rhode Island, as well as Nashville, Tennessee
and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They have recently made Punta Gorda their
permanent home.
They just traded their 18' Sea Ray for a 27' Bay Liner in order to take full
advantage of the waters around Charlotte Harbor.
Growing up in Narragansett Bay, boating has always been a passion. They
currently have a 21' center console that Mitch uses to fish, and have just
purchased their first sailboat, a Catalina 22.

Diane keeps busy remodeling their home, and is currently learning how to
play Bridge. She has plans to join the Charlotte County Master Gardener
program and re-landscape their yard. She also expects to be volunteering
in the community in the near future.
Mitch still works full-time so he is not able to boat as much as he would
like. They try to get out on the water to either sail or fish on weekends, and
also enjoy exploring the Florida countryside via motorcycle.
Ted and Sherry retired to Port Charlotte in 2002 after living in Southeast
Michigan. Ted lived there all his life while Sherry arrived there by way of
Chicago and western Pennsylvania. Both are retired business owners, Ted
a builder, and Sherry a real estate broker. Married for 27 years, they have
two children and four grandkids.
Ted and Sherry are active kayakers, bicyclists, sailors, dancers and travelers. Ted is a particularly active putterer around the house, and Sherry is an
occasional artist. Ted volunteers at the Peace River Wildlife Center and is
a water monitor for the Charlotte Harbor Estuary Network.
Sailing since 2004, they are on their third sailboat - a 27' Catalina named
Hideaway. They are looking forward to cruising with the sailors and participating in other club activities as well.

Rudolf immigrated from Germany in 1958. He was born near Cologne.
Margrit immigrated in 1962, and was born in Hamburg. They were married
in Saratoga, New York in 1962. They have two daughters and two grandchildren.
Rudolf and Margrit Schlegel
Rudolf worked at the German Oversea Petroleum Corporation (Exports) in
Hamburg and Margrit worked as Secretary for the North German Life Insurance Co. in Hamburg.
In NY Rudolf worked as Auditor for the Gideon Putnam (Schine) Hotels.
He then worked as an accountant for several corporations. In 1975, Rudolf
bought several automotive businesses, including Midas/Cottman Transmissions, American International Rent a Car, and a Mobil gas station in
Albany, New York.

In 2005, the businesses were sold, and they invested in real estate. After
that, they had an opportunity to visit some business associates in St.
Augustine, and friends in Ft. Myers. These friends introduced them to
Punta Gorda. Immediately, it appeared to be the perfect place for them to
live.
Having owned a 31' O'Day sailboat on Lake George and Lake Champlain,
Punta Gorda offered an excellent opportunity for sailing on the Peace River
and in the Gulf. Rudolf and Margrit become Florida residents in 2010.
Besides social functions that the boat club offers, they look forward making
new friends and the opportunity for sailing and kayaking.
Paul and Jo-Ann Weakly
Paul and Jo-Anne Weakley started their passion for boating after an early
1980’s vacation to visit Paul’s sister and her husband who had a sailboat
on the York River in Gloucester, Virginia. Returning to their home in El
Paso, Texas they acquired their first sailboat, a Macgregor 25, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Sailing in the desert southwest proved to be quite a
challenge. After a few years of trailer sailing they moved to Williamsburg,
Virginia, bought a bigger sail boat, and began enjoying the beauty and
great sailing of the Chesapeake Bay.
In 2003 they purchased their first trawler. They enjoyed much of the
Chesapeake Bay with their little tugboat for a few years, before purchasing
their current trawler, a Nordhavn 35, which proved to be more spacious
and seaworthy.

A few years later they decided to sell their accounting practice and go
cruising. Their first Big Trip was up the Chesapeake Bay to the Delaware
River and Cape May, NJ. and on to NY Harbor and up the Hudson River to
the Erie Canal. Since that first trip they have made two additional trips to
the Erie Canal. One year they did the Triangle Loop cruise through the
Rideau Canal, Ottawa River, St. Lawrence River and Lake Champlain,
back to the Hudson River and back home to the Chesapeake. On their last
trip to the Erie Canal they went all the way west to Tonawanda/Buffalo,
New York before returning home to the Chesapeake once again. Their
next Big Cruise is now in the planning stage. Stay tuned.

MEMBERSHIP

Co-Chairs: Jan Norvelle and Shirley Spielman

email: [email protected]
The Membership Committee has just concluded the latest Membership Special. It was been enormously successful, with almost
50 new members being added to our roster! Shirley and Jan would like to thank all those members who have stepped up to become sponsors, as well as those members who have made a special effort to reach out to our new people, making them feel very
welcome.
With so many new members this year, we are using up our pool of sponsor volunteers. Your role as sponsor is simply to make
prospective members feel more comfortable. We ask that you welcome them with a call or email, check to make sure they can
get on the website and encourage them to sign up for activities. We also ask that they sit with you at the first couple of Business
Meetings, since it is pretty overwhelming for someone new. This will give you an opportunity to learn more about them and be
able to introduce them to other club members with common interests. Please speak to Jan or Shirley to volunteer to become a
sponsor.
There will be a New Member Pizza Party on Sunday, April 14. Along with the new members, sponsors and board members have
been invited to this activity. If you received an invitation, please try to attend.
Please keep in mind that Membership is always looking for new members. Although there is no Membership Special right now,
our fees are quite reasonable. Do not hesitate to refer potential members at any time!

Burgee Presentation
At the March Business Meeting Ron Norvelle presented a Boat Club burgee to Dennis and Jeanne Lunsford
for their participation in last’s years Blessing of the Fleet. It was their first cruise with the Club.
Several members received burgee decals from Ed Higgins for their first paddle with the Club.
For participation at the Manatee Park paddle were Eric and Fran Sauer, Deb Sulla, and Jennifer Trombley.
Linger Lodge was the first paddle for Jules and Bert Bernstein and Randy and Susan Summey.
Sail Invitational
Day/Lunch Cruise: Thursday, March 20
Unfortunately due to the threat of thunderstorms this cruise had to be cancelled and can not be rescheduled at this time due to the
upcoming Marathon and Beyond cruise. If at all possible it will be rescheduled later this year when the boating calendar is less full.
Captain’s Challenge
Do You Know About the
Whale Awards?
The Captain's Challenge is a program the
Boat Club has been participating in for a
number of years in cooperation with the
Punta Gorda Boaters Alliance. Currently we
have 80.6% of our boat owning members
signed up. Two local clubs in the Punta
Gorda Civic Association, the Mariners and the Sea Farers,
have 100% participation. Wouldn't it be great if we could also
be able to brag that we are 100% enrolled?
There are two awards that are given for outstanding cruises
during the last calendar year: A Whale of a Cruise and A
Whale of a Tale. Any club skipper or member may submit an
article for consideration. Once submitted a committee will be
appointed by the Commodore to determine a recipient.
Whale of a Cruise Award:
Recognition of the most
outstanding cruise by a PGBC boat skipper. Evaluation is
based on, but not limited to, the difficulty of the cruise, creativity of the cruise, seamanship exhibited, unusual weather, or
other conditions that were overcome. In order to qualify, the
cruise shall not have been a PGBC cruise; shall be on a vessel owned by the subject PGBC skipper; and shall originate
and end in Charlotte Harbor.
If you have taken a "Safe Boating Course" and have never
signed up, please do so on our web site. Under the second
membership column, scroll down and click on "Captain's
Challenge, find your name, and bring up the courses. Find
the course you took and the month and year (or approximate
time frame) you took it. You will then be signed up.
If you have not yet taken a "Safe Boating Course”, it is recommended that you do so. The sea can be unforgiving and
these courses are beneficial to keeping us safe while on the
water. Several courses are frequently given in our area, at
very little cost.
Whale of a Tale Award:
Recognition of a cruise by a
member. It shall be awarded based upon difficulty, unusual
happenings, misadventures and humorous mishaps.
If you look in the trophy cabinet you will see a board with previous winners names on it. You might also notice that it has
been a number of years since one of the awards has been
given out. It is up to members to submit an article for consideration. You can submit one in your own name or if you have
heard from a fellow member about an unusual happening on a
cruise they took you can either encourage them to submit a
write up or you may submit on in their behalf.
The next one day 8 hour course offered by
the Peace River Sail and Power Squadron
will be held on Saturday, May 18th at the
Club. To sign up call 941-637-0766.
BoatU.S. offers a free online Boating
Safety Course which consists of 6 lessons
and a final exam. To participate in this go
to http://www.boatus.org/onlinecourse/Florida.asp and follow
the directions.
Director, Carolyn Potterton will keep you informed of any additional courses that become available.
You are encouraged to make an effort in helping the Club
support its commitment to this program and the community.
You may also check with your insurance company to see if
you are eligible to receive a discount upon completing a "Safe
Boating Course".
Are you up to helping the Club meet this Challenge?

Kayak Highlights
Telegraph Creek
Friday, March 19
With the threat of bad weather hanging over their heads, 32 hearty paddlers went to Franklin Lock South to paddle Telegraph
Creek. The promise of exotic animals proved too much to resist! The weather gods gave them no wind and flat water for the
quick crossing to the north side of the Caloosahatchee where you enter the Creek.
Telegraph Creek didn't disappoint…There were owls, peacocks, snakes, ducks, a camel, mama llamas, baby llamas and someone thought they saw the Dalai Llama (but that was just Ed!). A great paddle was had by all and they're looking forward to
returning again.
Kayak Lessons
Friday, March 1 at 10:30 am
On March 1st the kayak group offered a free introductory lesson to kayaking at Sunrise Park in Port Charlotte. There was a great
turnout of 24 members who were interested in trying out kayaking. Kayak Leader Ed Higgins demonstrated paddling techniques,
how to get in and out of a kayak and how not to tip over. With the help of the experienced kayakers, members were then put in a
kayak and everyone got to try out paddling in the protected waters of Sunrise Park. Members got to try out different kayak styles
( sit-in, sit on tops & tandems) and everyone had plenty of time to paddle. Hopefully there are a few new converts to the sport!
Ed and Deb Higgins would also like to thank all the kayakers that came and volunteered their time and donated their kayaks to
use. Without them, the event would never have happened. They are Tony & Teresa Manisco, Ron & Jan Norvelle, Rich & Pat
Jacoby, James Fricke, Frank Fambrough, Lenora Weisgerber, Frank & Jan Walker and Shirley & Howard Spielman.

Frank and Jan Walker will lead this year's big trip, heading to
Marathon, and beyond. They are allowing plenty of time to
allow all vessels to participate, both power and sail, and to
allow docking/anchoring every night. They will have several
rallying points, including Fort Myers beach, Marco Island,
Marathon, and Key West, with activities planned for vessels
that layover at each one.
Another year has passed and it’s time to plan the PGBC
Annual camping/boating trip to Franklin Locks. Located
on the Caloosahatche River section of the Okeechobee
Waterway it is just 30 miles from home.
The most intrepid mariners will target the Dry Tortugas as their
ultimate destination, although a ferry from Key West can be
used by those who want a less adventurous experience. If
you're looking for a shorter trip, you can always simply target
one of the rendezvous locations and then return home from
there.
Franklin Lock Recreation Area has a tropical atmosphere
that provides an excellent setting for visitors to camp or
boat. There are gorgeous river views along with a ring
side seat of the dam and lock.
If you are planning to come by boat you need to know that
there are only 8 slips, 4 of which can be reserved while
the other 4 are on a first come first serve basis. The trip
was specifically planned for midweek so that the first
come first serve slips should be available. If by chance
there is not a slip available there are dolphins which you
can tie up to.
The plan is to have one pot luck dinner, two dinners out,
one night of heavy hors d’oeuvres and one night on your
own.
Details will be discussed at the Captains’ Meeting on
Thursday, March 28th at the PGBC at 1600 hours.

A first time experience you don’t want to miss, and if you have

It is an easy cruise and the island has all of the amenities.
There is a covered area with tables for eating, restrooms,
changing rooms, showers and one of the nicest beaches in our
area. The water should be warm enough for a dip so bring your
suits.

Unfortunately the island can only be visited by boat. Have no
boat but a own kayak - plan on paddling over to take part in the

Matlacha is located on a small island in Matlacha Pass, east
of Pine Island. It is an "Old Florida" fishing village, home to
many brightly-colored art galleries, island boutiques, great
seafood restaurants, and traditional Floridian cottages. This
is one island that is definitely operating on island time slow and easy.
there will be a picnic lunch.
There are no kayak rental outfitters on location at the Creek,
however rentals are available for this paddle through O-SeaD Aquatic Adventures (941-347-8102) in Punta Gorda. The
rates are $25.oo for a two hour rental and they charge a
small delivery fee to Deer Prairie Creek. You will need to
contact them directly if you plan to rent.
So why not join other club members and go back in time
and enjoy a couple of lazy laid back days in this scenic area.
An e-mail will be sent out closer to the paddle with directions
to the paddle launch.
This cruise is for both sail and power boats. The plan is to
depart on the first day around 0900 am and sail or motor to
Matlacha which is due south down Charlotte Harbor, about
a half day sail. Upon arrival you will be anchoring on either
side of the Matlacha bridge. Once anchored there will be a
"Sundowner" that evening.
Please signup online if you plan to paddle so they won’t
leave the launch without you.
The next day, you are free to dinghy in and explore some of
the boutiques in town before joining possible day boaters for

There is a paddle planned for each day of the trip. Each afternoon
plan on gathering poolside around 4 pm for cocktails, appetizers
and socializing.
Mount Dora Overnight
April 9 to 12
On the night of arrival reservations have been made for 7 pm for a
group dinner at Pisces Rising Restaurant. This is one of the most
popular restaurants in town and they took fabulous care of our
group last year. Deb and Ed will be sending out the menu choices to
everyone signed up for the trip.
The PGBC Kayakers are heading back to Mount Dora April 9 to 12
for a two night (third night optional) stay at the historic Lakeside Inn
on Lake Dora.
Mount Dora is a quaint New England like town in central Florida
north of Orlando. It is known for antiques, shopping, dining and
festivals held throughout the year.
The next two evenings are dinner on your own. This allows you to
explore the many dining opportunities that exist in town.
This overnight trip is not exclusive to just the kayakers of the Club.
All members are welcome to join in even if they don’t kayak. In the
past, this trip has proven to be one of the Clubs most popular overnight events of the year for kayakers and non-kayakers alike.
Paddle Information
The Mount Dora Canal Paddle will take place on
the day of arrival. A mid-afternoon launch is
planned. This will be a scenic paddle lush with
birdlife. It is a relatively short and easy paddle
lasting less than 2 hours.
The central location of the Inn allows you to park your car and walk
to everywhere in the shopping and dining district. After paddles you
can socialize by the pool and enjoy a group dinner out.
There will not be rental availability for this paddle.
The vendor that was used last year had terrible
kayaks and will not be used again. Unfortunately
no other outfitters have been found to service this
paddle.
T he optional third night is for those who may wish to paddle the
Silver River in Ocala National Forest. This is a more challenging
paddle and not for beginners. You may wish to stay the extra night
and spend time exploring Mount Dora.
The Wekiva River Paddle is a great paddle for all levels. It is a
beautiful meandering river with otters and birds an minimal current.
A block of rooms have been booked at the Lakeside Inn at a rate of
$109 a night which includes breakfast at the hotel restaurant. You
may book online or by phone. When booking online, please use the
promotional code PGBC (all caps) to receive the negotiated rate.
Please also sign up on the club’s website when you make your hotel
reservation so Deb and Ed will have an accurate head count.
The launch has a rental rate of
$30.00 for all day. For those of us
that have our own kayaks there is
$6.00 launch fee. No rental reservations are necessary. They have
plenty of kayaks on site. This paddle can last as long as you want
due to the length of the river, but
we keep it to about 2 1/2 hours.
The trip is just a month away
and rooms are filling up. If you
are thinking of participating it is
best not to delay in reserving a
room.
a
The Silver River Paddle is for those who
will be staying over the third night. This is a
paddle for experienced kayakers only, solely
due to the strength of the current that one
encounters paddling upstream. The return
trip is easy since the current will carry you
downstream. There’s nothing heart-pounding
scary about the current, it’s just that it is noticeable and inexperienced paddlers will tire
quickly.

Yoga
April 18, 10:00 AM
A wonderful evening of beautiful Irish ballads and the music
of Frank Sinatra was expertly performed by John Rinell on
St. Patrick's Day.
John, a very talented performer stepped away from Sinatra
and the Irish tunes and featured several other singers.
On March 14th Kathy Kuzara, a certified yoga instructor, gave a
lesson in basic yoga techniques. The class met with such success that she was asked to do it again.
As usual the appetizers were awesome, delicious, plentiful
and lots of variety.
Yoga classes have been added to the Boat Club calendar on the
following days from10:00 am to noon:
A very enjoyable evening.

the grounds of the park were a group of kayakers to help
remove foreign material from the water. Numerous bags of
trash and debris were removed from both the water and the
park.
Sign up online or call Kathy Kuzara at 941-769-2541.

Visit to the Butterfly Estates
On Thursday, April 25th Marie Ludvig will lead a trip to Old
Town Fort Myers where you are
sure to enjoy a special tea at
Miss Bobbie’s Wisteria Tea
Room followed by a visit to the
Butterfly Estates.
The Wisteria Tea Room is located in an adorable circa 1919
bungalow that was restored
preserving its original southern
Florida charm. Inside the tables
are set for tea and you will find there are many beautiful tea
items as well as specialty gifts for purchase.
The Tea Room offers a variety of teas to try and in addition to
afternoon high and low teas, they offer a variety of salads,
sandwiches and soups. It can be safely said that you will most
certainly enjoy this delightful tea experience.
After tea you will visit the Butterfly Estates just down the
street. The estates are not only a botanical garden and butterfly conservatory but an “experience” as they release a variety
of beautiful butterflies. You will be able to learn about their life
cycle, what they eat, where they sleep and how they mate. It
is not only interesting and educational but a fun experience as
the beautiful butterflies surround and land on you.
Sign up now for the annual Commodore’s
Picnic on Saturday, April 20th . The past
Commodores / Commanders and their
spouses are working hard to make sure that
this is the best picnic ever and that you have
a good time.
As is the tradition there will be bratwurst, Italian sausage and hot
dogs on the grill with all the sides and fixins’ for a great meal.
Also as with tradition, there will be plenty of beer and soda available. If that is not enough, this year they will also be serving
Bloody Marys.
What is a picnic without some games? There will be a bean bag
toss, a three legged race, ladder toss, scavenger hunt, balloon
toss, horse racing and others to test your skill and endurance.
As well as being fun for the participants prizes will be awarded to
the winners.
All this food and fun for just $10.00 per person.
To make your reservation, sign up online or
call Diane and Bob Bridge at 941-639-6160.
Checks made out to the PGBC should be
mailed to them at 621 Brindisi Ct,
Punta Gorda FL 33950.
The plan is to meet at the Boat Club for car pooling to Fort
Myers with a departure time of 10:30 am.
Dependent on what you order the cost for tea or lunch varies
between $10 and $20. The cost of admission to the Butterfly
Estates is $15 with Fl residents and senior citizens receiving
$2 off.

Ladies Day Event
A Taste of Thailand
May 9, 10:00 AM
Dinner at Solomon’s Castle
May 18, 2:00 PM
On Saturday May 18th there will be a trip to Solomon’s Castle for
a tour followed by dinner at the Boat in the Moat.
On May 9th at 10:00 am there will be a Thai cooking class conducted by Dennis Lunsford in Shirley
Spielman’s kitchen.
Solomon’s Castle is the home and
studio of internationally know
sculptor, Howard Solomon. The
unique castle was built by the artist
using some very unusual materials
and contains galleries of his artwork. The grounds contain some magnificent nature trails deep
in the heart of Florida’s natural beauty and is the habitat of
many species of animals and birds.
Thai food is not all fiery hot. Thai food is a delicious combination
of flavors, textures and colors. Garlic, ginger, lime, coconut,
tamarind, mango, lemon grass and peppers all combine to an
intriguing range of experiences.
Dennis, who has traveled to Thailand a number of times with his
job, will hold a class and tasting of a variety of Thai food. He has
taken some of the best dishes and reduced their complexity so
anyone can make this delicious culinary treat in their own home.
The Boat in the Moat, also built by the artist is
a replica of a 16th century Spanish galleon
and houses a restaurant.
The menu will include Tom Kha Gai (coconut milk and chicken
soup), Beef Salad, Fish Curry (salmon and cod in a mild red
curry sauce) and Pork Satay with peanut sauce.
The plan is to gather at the Club at 2:00 pm
for carpooling. This should provide plenty of
time to tour the castle before having dinner at
5:00 pm.
The cost is $10 per person. Class is limited to 15 people so be
sure to make your reservation early.
To sign up call Sue Anne Fambrough at 770-714-9475. Then
send a check made out to PGBC to her at 2526 Rio Lisbo Ct
Punta Gorda, FL 33950.
The cost of admission to the castle is $8.00 per person which
needs to be paid in advance to the Boat Club in order to receive
the group rate. Dinner will be at your expense paid directly to
the restaurant.
Reservation may be made online or by calling Eileen Risebrow
at 575-7565. Checks made out to the PGBC for $8 per person
should be mailed to Eileen at 3430 St. Croix Ct, Punta Gorda,
FL 33950.

risking messy drips from a leaking bag.

Blood Drive
Ship’s Store
April 9, 2013
The Ship’s Store has many great items for sale at great
prices.
The next blood drive is scheduled for Tuesday, April 9, 2013
(the day following the business meeting) from 9 am until noon
next door at the Bayfront Center in the Big Red Bus. Without
donors there would be no blood for transfusions, something
that any one of us might need some day, so anyone that is
able to give blood is encouraged to consider donating to this
worthwhile and critical need. There will be a signup sheet at
the next business meeting or you can call Dennis Kuzara at
941-769-2541 to be put on the schedule,
The merchandise is of great quality and every piece has
the club’s logo embroidered on it.
Recently the store was able to obtain a number
of Gerber multitools at a great price. The tools
are priced at just $25 which is just a fraction of
what they retail for and about 50% less than
what you can find them online for. They are
made of high-carbon steel for life-long durability
and strength and feature the Roto-Lock system
which assures it will never accidentally close or
collapse.
Historically, the members of the Punta Gorda Boat Club who
donate blood are less than 2% of the membership, yet a show
of hands at the last business meeting indicate that about 70%
of the members are able to donate blood - but just don't. With
just 6 to 7 members showing up at the blood drive, it is marginal for the bus to show up. With your help we can improve
this statistic. If just 7 new members will just show up at the Big
Red Bus on April 9th, we can double the amount of donated
blood and make sure that the Big Red Bus keeps showing up.
The store will be open at Business Meetings and at the
Attitude Adjustment. Stop by and have a look.
Checks or cash is accepted and tax is always included.
Wear the Logo Proudly !
