The NVCC President is a voting member of the
Boston Region Metropolitan Planning
Organization (MPO). The MPO is responsible
for conducting the federally required metropolitan
transportation-planning process for our area.
The MPO develops a vision for the region and
then decides how to allocate federal and some
state transportation funds to programs and
projects - roadway, transit, bicycle, and
pedestrian - that support that vision.

The MSBDC (MA Small Business Development

any company with 500 employees or less or

plans, etc. By appointment, the MSBDC
Counselor meets with companies and
individuals at the Chamber office.
NVCC members offer a variety of discounts
and coupons to other NVCC members. To see

SCORE Counselors (“Counselors to America’s
Small Business”) are also available to our

Human Resources
Leadership Council (HRLC)
The purpose of the HR Council is to provide
an opportunity for persons in the HR and
related fields to network, to share experiences
and expertise and to be educated on current
HR and legal topics. Meetings are held generally
each month (the first Thursday) at which there
is a speaker and there is this opportunity to
network, to share and to be educated.

Eldercare Alliance
The Referral Exchange Network provides a
structured environment for the development
and exchange of quality business referrals. You
will meet other enthusiastic NVCC members
who are interested in helping you grow your
business by passing qualified referrals, sharing
ideas, and having some fun in the process.
There are currently 5 REN groups, meeting biweekly on various days, usually 8-9 am and
one in the afternoon, at the NVCC offices. Only
one member per profession is permitted in
each group. This allows each member to
spotlight his/her business in a non-competitive
environment within each group.

Young Professionals
The Neponset Valley Young Professional’s
mission is to foster an innovative environment
that allows those who live, work, and play
within the region to achieve and exceed
personal and professional goals. We do so by

become active participants in the community.

Welcome to Neponset Valley
Since 1894, the Neponset Valley Chamber of
Commerce has been the driving force of
business in the Neponset Valley Region.
Comprised of the communities of Canton,
Dedham, Foxborough, Medfield, Milton,
Norfolk, Norwood, Randolph, Sharon,
Stoughton, Walpole and Westwood, the region
is the perfect setting for any business or family
to call home.
Located along 128, I-95 and I-495, businesses
and commuters will find traveling and

Canton
Located at the intersection of Routes I-93, I-95
and 128, Canton is a crossroads that both

suburbs. The town is well-served with several
MBTA stops and commuter rail. A vibrant
downtown, and abundant retail and restaurant
options along Route 1, including Legacy Place,

200-acre protected state park and access to the
Charles River.
Foxborough
Best known as the home of the New England
Patriots, Foxborough has also maintained
quaint neighborhoods that 17,000 residents call
home. During Sundays in the football season,
the town quadruples in size and supports a
wide commercial base for retail businesses.
Patriot Place includes a variety of retail,
restaurant and entertainment venues.
Medfield
Medfield offers a small-town feel, with only
12,000 residents, just 17 miles outside of the
city of Boston. With the school system ranked
in the top ten in the state and located a bit off
of the beaten path, families will find a quieter
friendly home in Medfield.

WELCOME
Milton
Bordering the city of Boston, the town of
Milton is located between the Neponset River
and the Blue Hills. It has the highest percentage
of residents citing Irish heritage in the United
States at 38% and has made the top ten three
times in Money Magazine’s top ten for “Best
Places to Live” in the country.
Norfolk
A rural suburban town nestled on the outskirts
of Metro Boston, Norfolk is located on an
upper valley of the Charles River 20 miles
southwest of Boston. Recognized for its semirural suburban living, first class children’s
programming and safe neighborhoods, Norfolk
was named the 5th safest town in the
Commonwealth by Safewise.com.
Norwood
On the edges of major commuter throughways
like Routes 128 and I-95, Norwood is home to
over 28,000 people and is a perfect place for
businesses. Norwood is home to the area’s
major community hospital and is the heart of
the Automile on Route 1. Norwood’s attractive
downtown includes a newly renovated
community theater and a variety of dining
options. A broad commercial tax base allows
for lower residential tax rates.
Randolph
Incorporated in 1793, Randolph was originally
inhabited by the Cochato and Ponkapoag
tribes. Located just 15 miles south of Boston,
Randolph lies at the intersection of Routes 128
and 24, which has been both an important
factor in its economic as well as social history.
During the 19th century, this town was widely
regarded as one of the country’s leading boot
producers, and replaced in the 20th century by
the service and light manufacturing industries.
Sharon
Sharon is a town full of open space, totaling a
whopping 24.2 square miles with only 17,000
residents. The town has a number of parks and
scenic trails making it the perfect home for
nature-lovers. With national award-winning
and tight-knit schools, this community is also
great for growing families.
Stoughton
A quick drive to major cities like Boston and
Providence, Stoughton is home to nearly 27,000
residents. The town has a unique history and
track record of being an extremely welcoming
community, for all types of people and businesses.
Walpole
This town of 24,000 is a mix of personalities,
maintaining its rural roots and continuing to
move forward like it did in the industrial
revolution. The Norfolk Agricultural School

suburban community. With a well-maintained
town forest and multiple waterways running
through town, Walpole has plenty of sights to
offer. A vibrant downtown is complemented
by a number of restaurants and retail options at
the Walpole Mall on Route 1.
Westwood
Westwood is a town you often see ranked
among the best around Boston, in the state and
even in the country, recently taking the 13th
spot on Money Magazine’s national rankings.
Add in beautiful outdoor spaces, a convenient
location just 12 miles outside of Boston along
Route 128 and I-95, and University Station
mixed-use development and it’s no wonder
this town makes the list. With schools ranked
top five in the state and named some of the
best in the country, this town is the perfect fit
for any family.
Education
Several of the public school districts in the
Neponset Valley towns are among the top-rated
in the state and there are a variety of local
private school options for students, as well.
Following high school, there are a number of
colleges and universities located nearby or
within these towns – ensuring that college
students won’t have to travel too far from home
for a high-quality education. Most of the
schools within the region focus on technology
and skills training for their students. ITT
Technical Institute in Norwood offers
technology-oriented degree programs. Bay State
School of Technology in Canton offers handson training for electrical and appliance work.
Universal Technical Institute in Norwood
focuses on automotive technical degrees. Just
outside this region are a variety of state and
private universities ranking among the top in
the country.
Shopping
The region offers seemingly endless options to
meet any shoppers’ needs. Dedham’s Legacy
Place is a mecca for those seeking high-end
shopping, great restaurants or any general

Mall. Town centers in each community offer
the full New England experience of unique

With a full-service hospital in Norwood and
several specialized medical centers, quality
healthcare isn’t hard to come by for Neponset
Valley residents. Norwood Hospital, a member
of Steward Health Care, is a 263-bed acute-care
facility that offers specialized services in
advanced surgical, cancer care, cardiology,
orthopedics, gastroenterology, psychiatry,
obstetrics, pediatrics and pain management.
New England Sinai Hospital, also a Steward
Health Care member, is located in Stoughton
and offers 212 beds for long-term acute care,
specifically pulmonary and complex medical
care as well as ambulatory services. This
specialty hospital offers award-winning care in
physical and occupational therapy, as well.
Meanwhile in Foxborough, Brigham and
Women’s/Mass General Health Care Center
provides a comfortable and convenient location
for both primary care and specialist services,
including cardiology, dermatology, general and
gastrointestinal surgery, orthopedic surgery,
pain management, plastic surgery,
rehabilitation and sports medicine. The Center
also offers diagnostic radiology and lab services
as well as a day surgery suite.
The region is also served by the newly
expanded Dedham Medical Associates/Atrius
Health which features locations in Dedham
and Norwood and includes an urgent care

Looking Back, Going Forward
The Neponset Valley region has a thriving economy with thousands of
businesses choosing to set up shop in the area, including large
corporations, technology companies, retailers and automobile
dealerships. Located along Routes 128, I-95 and I-495, these towns offer
convenient transportation options and a close proximity to the city of
Boston. There are also commuter rail and T stations located within the
region, making it easy for commuting employees to reach businesses in
these towns. The Town of Norwood features a regional airport that
serves executives looking for a convenient alternative to Logan airport
in Boston.
Attracted by a number of large office parks and a location on the
outskirts of the Boston metropolitan area, many major corporations

region include Reebok, Dunkin’ Donuts, Analog Devices, Covidien,
Casual Male Retail Group, National Amusements, LoJack and Instron
among others.
Software companies have also found homes in the region, including the
medical software provider Meditech in Norwood, Westwood and Canton
along with Computershare in Canton. With multiple trade and
technology schools throughout the region, including Bay State School of
Technology in Canton and ITT Technical Institute in Norwood, these
companies and others looking to locate in the region are sure to find
plenty of well-educated and skilled employees.
Storefronts for retail shops abound in these 12 towns, with a number of
major destination shopping centers attracting customers from all
around. Legacy Place in Dedham, University Station in Westwood and
Patriot Place in Foxborough each offer mid-range and high-end
shopping experiences from a variety of retailers. Each offers unique
bars, restaurants and entertainment options as well. Those looking for
more traditional New England village shopping experiences can find
them in each of our community’s traditional downtown settings. Auto
dealerships have long been a staple in the region, specifically to
Norwood, home of the famous “Automile.” The Automile features a
large number of competing car dealerships doing business side-by-side
all along Route 1, making it a destination for car buyers throughout
New England.

The secret is out
With a major professional stadium and concert
venue, numerous state parks and other
attractions located within the Neponset Valley
region, there are endless options for indoor and
outdoor entertainment for the area’s residents.
Gillette Stadium in Foxborough attracts visitors
from across New England for New England
Patriots’ football games, but it also provides
many other entertainment options. The
stadium, which seats nearly 70,000 people, is
also home to the New England Revolution, and
hosts numerous concerts and festivals featuring
well-known national acts.
With the Neponset River coursing through the
region and a number of small hills, the region
offers plenty of opportunities for outdoor
activities. Borderland, the largest state park in
the area at 1,782 acres, in Sharon and partly in
Easton, features trails, ponds and even a disc
golf course. There’s also a large three-story, 20room stone mansion where paintings still hang
on the walls, and most of the original
furnishings remain intact. In Westwood, the
1,200-acre Hale Reservation features multiple
beaches and walking trails. Foxborough’s F.
Gilbert Hills state forest offers 1,027 acres for
outdoor activities, including hiking, biking,
cross-country skiing and horseback riding.
Noon Hill, in Medfield’s 491-acre Rocky
Woods, is the highest peak in the area at 370
feet and offers beautiful views of the hills in
surrounding Walpole, Norfolk and of Gillette
Stadium. Wilson Mountain Reservation in
Dedham offers almost 200 acres of open space
with excellent peak views of the city of Boston.
In Walpole, the William Bird Park offers a
unique view of nature on 89 trail-crossed
acres. The Massachusetts Audubon Society
houses their Visual Arts Center in Canton
where visitors can view an extensive collection
of natural history art and photography and tour
the Mildred Morse Allen Wildlife Sanctuary’s
trail system to see beautiful wildflowers and
spot rare wildlife. Topping it all off is the Great
Blue Hills Reservation in Milton, which offers
skiing in winter and hiking year-round. Make
it to the top of Great Blue Hill and enjoy a 360degree view of Boston and the region!
Those looking for a little more adventure can
put their kayaks and canoes into the Neponset
and Charles rivers at a number of local “putins” in several area towns.
With so many outdoor recreation spaces and a
major sports and entertainment venue, there
never has to be a dull moment for those living
in the Neponset Valley region.
