Technical Description
Pipe fittings such as segmented T-pieces, laterals and seamless bends can be manufactured from pipe in a wide variety
of sizes and pressure classes but mostly from 90mm OD upwards and Class 10, SDR 17 or higher. Permissible working
pressure is 50% of the class of pipe used to fabricate the fitting, eg. 1000 kPa produces a 500 kPa fabricated fitting.

HURNER MANUAL BUTT-WELD MACHINES
The Manual Hydraulic Series of butt-welding
machines in the new WhiteLine generation makes
a statement by its superior manufacturing quality
and its scalability in the form of an easy upgrade
to a data logging-enabled machine with the
installation of an SPG 2.0 data logger for welding
report generation.
The machine ships with a hydraulic unit that
features, as a unique first, a totally intergrated
enclosure that is also a splash and dirt shield for
all components on the inside. The front panel
controls, too, are included in the ingress protection
according to the IP 54 rating (where IP 64 is
possible upon request)
All HURNER manual Hydraulic butt-welding
machines can easily be upgraded with the HURNER
data logger SPG 2.0 for welding parameter viewing,
monitoring and recording. As a consequence the
model version "Manual + SPG" of the butt-welding
machine complies with main gas distributors
specification requirements, which state that data
recording and report generation is mandatory, but
do not require automatic welding process.
Large, knurled turning knob mean easy handling
for the operator who opens or closes the clamps
of the machines sizes up to O.D. 315. No tools are
needed for this.
An innovation has been added to all basic machine
chassis (up to O.D. 355): HurnerClick, a machanism
that enables fast and convenient clicking into place
of the reducer inserts in the pipe clamps, without
additional bolts.
A carry rack is provided for the heating element
and the facing tool, to store them with no worries
about the heat.
All connections, including an additional power
socket free use for the operator's convenience,
are located at the back of the controller.
Both the facing tool and the heating element
are also connected at the back panel of the
hydraulic controller. Therefore, no additional power
distribution unit is needed.
The 4th clamp of the machine chassis can be
easily removed by loosening 3 bolts, for welding
operations at locations where positioning the
machine is a challenge and for joints with tees
or other fitting elements. This turns the machine
into a fully functional "short" chassis with only
three clamps.
The hydraulic unit also doubles as the central
control panel of the machine with which the user
performs all relevant settings and process steps.
The front panel features a GT keypad, the critical
process controls, and also the digital temperature
control for the heating element and the extra-large
and conveniently readable pressure gauge.
The machine chassis is set on a specifically
developed support frame exhibiting a warp
resistance that manages with ease even the most
extreme pipe parameters. Operators can be sure
that the machine chassis does not tilt or twist even
when very long lengths of pipe with very thick
walls, are processed.

Transport box
The facing tool with intergrated micro-safety switch
is driven by a high-quality power drive engaged by
a transmission chain. The precision heating element
ships with a very rugged anti-stick coating.
Maximum protection of the machine, while it is
stowed away, is provided (up to O.D. 315) by an
optionally available, high-quality transport box
that has been specifically designed for the entire
machine assembly, with drawer-style storage
compartments for the reducer inserts.
For all machines a welding neck support is of
course available, too.

HURNER WELDCONTROL BUTT-WELD MACHINES
The handling of a WeldControl machine is simply
unique and it enables an approach to welding no
other system is able to offer. Either the operator
makes use of the assistance of the interactively
responding hydraulic and control unit.
Or the manual mode is selected to make the
joint "by hand".
In the WeldControl mode the system walks the
operator through the process after the pipe
parameters were entered or confirmed.
This includes monitoring the operator's inputs
and recording the entire process.
Weldcontrol machines do not only provide presets,
though; they facilitate the work, e.g., by reducing
the pressure automatically when the automode
was enabled. Welding reports have all data required
by ISO traceability.
In Manual mode the display screen works as a
digital gauge. It displays the welding pressures
and heating element temperatures and is a onestop provider of all data.
Via the USB port data can be sent as an abstract
or extended report in the PDF format to a USB
stick or a label tag printer. Downloading them in
the DataWork format enables using HURNER's PC
program DataWork for archiving and managing the
welding data.

The machine ships with a totally encased
WeldControl hydraulic and control unit of
ingress protection IP 54 for pressures up to
250 bar. Both the heating element and the facing
tool are connected to the WeldControl hydraulics.
No additional power distribution is needed.
Component traceability data, pipe material,
diameter, and wall thickness or SDR can be entered
on a GT keypad with a highly user-friendly menu.
All pressures and times relevant to jointing
operation are computed and monitored by the
WeldControl system and displayed on the screen
for the welder's convenience.

HURNER CNC ECO BUTT-WELD MACHINES
The HURNER CNC ECO 2.0 is a high-quality and
durable, next-generation CN-controlled plastic pipe
butt-welding machine that has been developed
in compliance, as applicable, with the machinery
directive 2006/42/EC as amended. The design of
the machine is such that with 12 basic machine
chassis models, pipes from O.D. 40 through 1600
mm can be jointed.
Heating element temperature and pressure control
throughout the welding process is implemented
as provided for by the applicable standard (DVS,
UNI, WIS, NEN, etc.) Of course, all welding-related
parameters that matter for a high-quality and
reproducible joint are monitored for the full
duration of the process and saved to the internal
memory with a capacity of 10, 000 reports.
Of course, the tried and tested input devices,
scanning pen and handheld scanner, continue
to be available as options. All HURNER CNC ECO
machines also featuring a USB interface port
for download of the welding data to a USB stick
as a short abstact or an extended report in the
PDF format or for archiving them in the HURNER
DataWork format.
The welding machines ships with fully encased CNC
hydraulic and control box of ingress protection IP
54 managing pressures up to 220 bar. Both the antistick-coated heating element and the facing tool
are hooked up along with the machine chassis on
the hydraulic and control box. No additional power
distribution is needed.
It is absolutely unique and a first in butt-welding
technology that user identification and access
control does not rely on bar codes and scanner
with these machines, as in the past, but makes the
data available to the hydraulic and control box by
the totally error-proof and extremely user-friendly
RFID technology.
In their CNC ECO + 2.0 model version, all machines
additionally feature the HDC - HURNER Distance
Control - sensing system for accurate verification of
proper welding and welding process preparation.
Furthermore, all HURNER CNC ECO machines of the
next generation allow an optional upgrade with a
hardware-based input voltage monitor, inclusive of
the associated voltage recording capabilities.
All components are covered by the HURNER warranty
Movement Pushbutton
Tag printer and label tags
Front panel
The HURNER movement pushbutton
fitted to the basic machine chassis
allows moving the machine carriage
when the welder stands next to the
chassis. This enables convenient
welding without constant back-andforth between the hydraulic and
control box and the machine chassis.
Immediate quality labeling of every welded joint is possible with the
optional dedicated tag printer that delivers an abrasion-proof plastic
sticker which can be used as a label on the fitting or joint.
The standard version of the
machine ships with a nextgeneration, high-resolution,
temperature range-extended
character display.
The novel GT keyboard enables
convient input of both required

HURNER WORKSHOP FABRICATION BUTT-WELDING MACHINES
The HWT 400-C is a numerically controlled plastic welding machine for
workshop applications developed in compliance with the so-called machinery
directive 2006/42/EC as amended, that allows making segments, tees, Y pieces
and crosspieces. The machine is designed for the joining of segmented bends
from O.D. 90 to 400mm and of tees, Y pieces, and crosses from O.D. 90 to 315mm.
The machine is set on a welded, heavy-duty, no-warp support frame and the
bearings on which move both the horizontally traveling carriages and heating
element and facing tool assembly, are designed as precision-engineered and
heavy load-bearing trapeze-shaped guides with precision-matched runner
blocks. As well the insertion and retraction the heating element and the facing
tool as the entire welding process are fully automated and, therefore, ensure
utmost accuracy, ergonomic working, and tremendously short
change-over delays.
To improve the geometry of fittings and the quality of the joint, this nextgeneration representative of workshop technology features not only two
horizontally moving and adjustable carriage consoles, but also an additional
supporting cylinder (optional) for welding sizes 355 mm or larger.
The heating element temperature and the force are controlled in the course of
the welding process in accordance with the applicable national standards (DVS,
WIS, etc.). It goes without saying that all parameters that are critical for a highquality and reproducible welded joint are monitored throughout the process
and saved to the memory of the system, which can hold up to 10, 000 reports.

The tried and tested input devices, scanning pen and handheld scanner,
are also available. Futhermore, all CNC machines are equipped with a USB
interface to enable downloading the welding reports in the PDF format to
a USB stick or sending them to the management database in the HURNER
DataWork format. It is also possible to label a joint immediately for its quality
by printing on plastic foil an indelible label tag with the available tag printer
that will identify the fitting.

HURNER ELECTROFUSION WELDING MACHINES
The HST 300 + 2.0 of the WhiteLine series of welding units is HURNER's move
to take electrofusion welding into a new age, the age of a generation of
welders with revolutionary, unique characteristics. These units, which have
been developed from scratch, built on the comany's massive, decades-long
experience. HURNER's standard hallmarks-light weight, compact dimensions,
top-notch performance-have been added on-board with geo-coordinate
recording by GPS at the touch of a button.
The WhiteLine welders cover all areas of application in electrofustion welding
of PE, PP and PVDF pipes with heater coil fittings. There is no challenge for
which you will not find a welder of the series able to take it on successfully.
Whether it is jointing in the safety-sensitive area of gas networks, including
accurate recording of georaphic data, jointing components with very small
diameters (e.g., geothermal or sanitary fitting applications) or very large
diameters (e.g., wastewater applications)- the welders will always make a
statement by their unyielding reliability that builds on more than 35 years
of developing and manufacturing experience.
The lighthouse HST 300 Print + 2.0 and HST 300 Pricon + 2.0 offer an extremely
intuitive data trasfer menu that enables the download of all or of a finely
tuned selection of welding and traceability reports, as an abstract or extended
report in the PDF format, as a label printed by the optional label tag printer, or
in the Data Work format sent to a PC.

Data logging capabilities of today's welding
units have been able to answer only the
question, "Who welded what, when and
how?" Traceability has now been extended
to answering the critical question that used
to create the most serious issues, that is,
"Where is the welded joint buried?"
This answer is given by the new lighthouse
welders HST 300 Print + 2.0 and HST 300
Pricon + 2.0, both of which feature a
specifically developed, high-res GPS module
that determines the coordinates with
maximum precision. For both welders,
the GPS upgrade is optional, while the
standard model of both continues to be
available without it.
The new Generation 2.0 data loggers for
welding report generation also offer
automation of component labelling,
which used to require the manual use of
marker pens. No need anymore to write
the cooling time or any other remark onto
the pipe. The data transfer menu allows
printing of a mini-summary of a selected
welding report on a label tag printer.
The abrasion-proof plastic tag is then
simply affixed to the fitting or pipe.
The tried and tested download methods
via USB A, abstract or extended report as
well as report in the DataWork format,
will of course continue to be available.
The standard versions of the Generation
WhiteLite welders ship with a state-of-theart high-resolution, temperature rangeextended character display. The novel
GT keypad allows convienent input of all
required parameters. The input is possible
as you would use a traditional mobile device
with a keypad. Another unique functionality
is the ViewWeld feature. It enables browsing,
viewing and checking of the logged welding
reports on the display screen of the welder,
without any need to print the reports off.
