A F E W WO R D S F R O M T H E A R T I S T I C D I R E C TO R
Welcome to the wonderful world of Mame Dennis, the kind of aunt I
think we’d all like to have. She has been part of my life for a long time;
I remember as a kid loving the movie AUNTIE MAME with Rosalind
Russell, and wishing I could have seen Angela Lansbury in the
Broadway musical in the late Sixties. I also remember my
disappointment with the 1974 Lucille Ball film version…
I’ve had the pleasure of working on this show only once, many years
ago, and I’m truly grateful to have the chance to bring this wonderful Jerry Herman show
to the stage once again.
I’m excited to welcome Nancy Hays as Mame to our Light Opera Works family, and it’s
always a treat to have Mary Robin Roth back with us, this time as Vera Charles, along with
Alicia Berneche in the very unoperatic role of Agnes Gooch! And how lucky I was when
little Zachary Fewkes showed up to audition for young Patrick.
As always, I’m grateful to my returning designers Adam, Andrew and Aaron, and I’m
pleased to welcome a new costume designer, Bob Kuhn, to the team. And I send special
thanks to my choreographer Clayton Cross, as well as to Roger Bingaman down in the
orchestra pit. I couldn’t ask for a better crew of collaborators.
As Mame says, “Live! Live! Live! Life’s a banquet!” Enjoy!
