SALINAN EXHIBIT CURRENTLY ON DISPLAY
We are privileged at the Cambria Historical Museum to invite and host the Salinan tribe of Central California to present their display currently at our venue. Yvonne Davis has prepared an attractive ex‐
hibit of maps, artifacts and mementos which depict the tribe’s heri‐
tage and legacy. A much larger, interactive and even more compre‐
hensive exhibit is on permanent display at Mission San Miguel on Highway 1 north of Paso Robles. August 15—Volunteer Appreciation Dinner 5PM October 1‐31 Scarecrow Festival www.cambriascarecrows.com October 11‐14‐

m Patty Dunton, representing the tribe “which is still here after 10,000 years” visited us with her mother Edna Burch, and brought us up to date about the families which are being considered for federal recog‐
nition after 20‐30 years of research. The application was submitted in December, 2011, with the assistance of Dr. Dan Krieger, Cal Poly pro‐
fessor emeritus of history, through their non‐profit organization, which is committed to preserve their culture and language. In addition to the Salinan exhibit, we have the Peter Aloysius Forres‐
ter on display in addition to many other interesting information about Cambria and the surrounding area. What's New in the Heritage Gardens? Elephant Garlic is popping up all over! Did you know…? There are eleven historical museums located in northern San Luis Obispo County. They range from the Rios‐Caledonia Adobe in San Miguel to the Colony house in Atascadero. Also located in this area are the Paso Robles Pioneer Museum, Mission San Miguel, the Paso Robles Historical Society Museum, the Estrella Warbirds Museum in Paso Robles, the Santa Margarita Museum, the Horstman House in Templeton, the Camp Roberts His‐
torical Museum, the reactivated Cayucos Historical Museum, and of course the Cambria Historical Museum. Each museum has its own unique emphasis. You can view war‐time armament at Camp Roberts or aircraft of many nations at the Estrella Museum. There are antique and race cars at the Pioneer and Estrella Museums. The Paso Robles Museum has a multitude of historic documents available for research and the list goes on. You can spend many enjoy‐
