During his time with the team from 2007-2009, Shack led the af2 Spokane Shock to three division titles, two conference championships, an ArenaCup appearance in 2008, and an ArenaCup championship win in 2009. With a record of 50-7 over his three seasons, he went down in af2 history having the highest winning percentage as a head coach (87 percent). Shack moved on in 2010 to coach the Tri-Cities Fever, who began playing in the Indoor Football League that season after spending the previous three years (2007-2009) as members of the former af2. From 2010-2015, Shack coached the Fever to two Intense Conference titles, two United Bowl (IFL championship) appearances (2011, 2012), and four playoff berths in six seasons as he boosted his all-time head coaching record to 108-42. His landmark 100th win in just nine seasons came in the 2015 opener versus the Billings Wolves. A consummate student of the game since his prep days at Ohio football powerhouse Cincinnati (Archbishop) Moeller High School, Coach Shack quickly earned a reputation for embodying a coach on the field during his career as an offensive guard at Anderson University. After his playing days were over, he immediately took over coaching duties of the Anderson offensive line and helped them win a conference title in 2001. The 2015 season will mark Shack’s 22nd season of coaching in 18 years (from 2003 to 2006, he coached college in the fall and arena football in the spring and summer). Shackleford got his start in arena football in 2002 by volunteering for the Indiana Firebirds of the Arena Football League during their off-season try outs. In 2003, he served as the Offensive/Defensive Line Coach and Director of Football Operations of the af2 Cincinnati Swarm. From 2004 to 2006, he served as Offensive Coordinator and Director of Player Personnel for the af2 Louisville Fire. Shackleford earned his degree in physical education from Anderson University and resides with his wife Migdalia and two sons, Elijah and Caleb in Spokane Valley, Washington. DEFENSIVE COORD. AND STRENGTH & CONDITIONING COACH AMEER ISMAIL Ismail served as Defensive Coordinator for Tri-Cities during the 2015 IFL season and helped the Fever to the third best total defense in the league (213.6 yards per game). They also ranked fourth in rushing defense (73.9 yards per game), third in pass defensive efficiency as they limited opposing quarterbacks to a rating of 97.5 in 14 games, and third in pass defense (139.7 yards per game). Ameer began his coaching career with the IFL’s Cedar Rapids Titans where he coached for two seasons, including 2014 where he helped the franchise to an 11-3 record during the regular season with one of the top defensive units in the league. Prior to his coaching debut, Ismail played three seasons in the IFL for the Tri-Cities Fever (2010), Bloomington Edge (2012), and the Chicago Slaughter (2013). He was a two-time First Team All-IFL selection and was named IFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2012. During his three year IFL career Ismail registered 357 tackles, 13.5 sacks, six interceptions, and five forced fumbles. The league grew from six to eight, to ten teams without ever having a game go un-played for five seasons. A year later, several veteran team operators in the Midwest formed a league titled the United Indoor Football Association and enjoyed four years of sucess. During this period, league executives from both sides admired the other’s success and afriendship was developed. In 2008, the suggestion of merger became reality as the two leagues agreed to dissolve their former affiliations to become the new Indoor Football League. In the league’s inaugural season in 2009, the league competed with 19 active teams. The Billings Outlaws defeated the River City Rage and were crowned the first United Bowl Champion. In 2010, the IFL expanded to 25 teams in its second active season. The Billings Outlaws defeated the Sioux Falls Storm to become repeat United Bowl Champions. 2011 brought in new faces and new places to the Indoor Football League. With the addition of new teams in markets such as Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Arizona and Wyoming, the IFL gave fans more exciting football than ever. The Sioux Falls Storm claimed their first United Bowl trophy as they defeated the Tri-Cities Fever in the United Bowl. 2012 brought an influx of media attention and exposure to the league. The season ended with the Sioux Falls Storm again raising the United Bowl trophy as they defeated the Tri-Cities Fever for a second year in a row. The 2013 season proved to be one of the most successful in IFL history. IFL team’s broke box office records, averaging just shy of 4,000 fans per game.
