Whether you’re finishing a power hike up Flume, starting a more
leisurely expedition down Warbler or Wildlands, or finishing a ride up
the K-1 Express Gondola, this is a trail not to be missed, especially on
a calm, clear day. From Killington’s bare rock summit, the panoramic
views of the Adirondack, Taconic, Green and White Mountain Ranges
and the valleys of Vermont are memorable, as are the many features
around the treeline.

1. With knowledge and gear. Become self-reliant by learning about
the terrain, conditions, local weather and your equipment before
you start.
2. To leave your plans. Tell someone where you are going, the trails
you are hiking, when you will return and your emergency plans.
3. To stay together. When you start as a group, hike as a group and end
as a group. Pace your hike to the slowest person.
4. To turn back. Weather changes quickly in the mountains. Fatigue
and unexpected conditions can also affect your hike. Know your
limitations and when to postpone your hike. The mountains will be
there another day.
5. For emergencies. Even if you are headed out for just an hour, an
injury, severe weather or a wrong turn could become life threatening.
Don’t assume you will be rescued; know how to rescue yourself.
6. To share the hiker code with others.
Hike Safe: It’s Your Responsibility. The Hiker Responsibility Code
was developed and is endorsed by the White Mountain National
Forest and New Hampshire Fish and Game.
BE AWARE
• All hikers please check in at the Killington Mountain Bike Shop at the
Snowshed Lodge before exploring our trail system.
• Hike on designated hiking trails only.
• CAUTION! Trail conditions will vary with weather. Please consult the staff at Snowshed Lodge for more information.
• CAUTION! Hikers, mountain bikers, disc golfers and vehicles are
on the mountain. You will encounter regular traffic. Be aware at all
times that the roadway system is narrow with many sharp corners.
• Weather, on-mountain construction and vehicle traffic may affect
operations.
• This is a rendering only. Actual conditions at Killington will vary.
• See reverse side of this guide for what to do in case of
on-mountain emergencies.

Mountain biking is a challenging experience, complete with all the hazards and dangers associated with being in a rugged, outdoor environment. Mountain biking risks
include, but are not limited to: steep, uneven and ever-changing riding surfaces that contain rocks, roots, trees, tall and slippery grass, bumps, ruts, water bars, stumps and
brush; constantly changing weather conditions that can result in lack of visibility; motorized vehicles operating on the mountain; collisions with man-made objects including
terrain features, lift towers, snowmaking equipment, buildings and other riders and pedestrians; and failure of bike components. Mountain biking often involves frequent
falls that can result in serious injury or death. Riders should proceed cautiously and when in doubt, walk their bike. Never ride under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Do not
expose loose clothing to moving parts of the bicycle. Be advised to use proper equipment in good working order and consider wearing protective gear and clothing. Jumping
and rough riding can lead to malfunction of a mountain bike. Have your bike checked often. Be aware that minor injuries can become life-threatening emergencies when they
occur far from rescue personnel. Trails and routes are not patrolled and it may take a great deal of time for rescue personnel to locate and reach an injured biker.
• Helmets are required when riding at Killington.
• Ride on designated bike trails only.
• CAUTION! Trail conditions will vary with weather. Consult staff for more information.
• CAUTION! Mountain bikers, hikers, disc golfers and vehicles are on the mountain. You will encounter regular traffic. Be aware at all times
that the roadway system is narrow with many sharp corners. Mountain bikers should yield to all pedestrians, motorized vehicles and
uphill bike traffic.
• Pets are not allowed any place where mountain biking occurs.
• Killington Resort welcomes service animals at any time. Service animals must be under control and on a leash/harness.
