PROM NIGHT TALK TO YOUR CHILD ABOUT ALCOHOL Provide a safe environment for your child’s party... 1. Know your child’s plans and where they plan to be before and after prom. 2. Make sure your child knows you do not support underage drinking. 2. Make sure alcohol is not provided to minors at your home or on your property. 3. Create alcohol-free activities and drinks in your home during the party. 3. Ensure the party will be alcohol free. Talk to other parents. Parents always remember: 1. Be at home when your child has a party. 4. Remind everyone to never accept a ride from someone who has been drinking. Don’t provide alcohol or encourage drinking under 21. Minors and alcohol don’t mix. It is against the law to make alcohol available to those under 21. 4. Remind your child to never get in the car with someone who has been drinking. Parents remember: Minors and alcohol don’t mix.. • A fine up to $4,000 and/or, • Confinement in jail for up to a year; • Automatic suspension of driver’s license for 180 days upon conviction.
