Valentine’s Brunch

Thank you for joining us for our annual
Valentine’s Brunch. We are so grateful
that you have chosen to join us. At last
year’s Brunch we announced the
opening of the Homeward Bound
Adoption Center in the Freehold Raceway Mall, and we are
pleased to report that this initiative is a great success. More
than 700 pets found new homes there, helping us get to more
than 4,100 lives saved in 2012.
While we celebrate these achievements, we recognize that
2012 presented struggles with which we are still dealing today.
Storm victims are still coming to the shelter, arriving as recently
as last week.
As we all put our lives back together, we are
grateful that you have remembered the animals in our care as
part of that process. Your support and participation in today’s
Valentine’s Brunch are critical to our ability to make 2013 a year
for even more lifesaving.
On behalf of the entire Board of Trustees, our dedicated staff,
and all of the animals in our care, thank you for supporting the
continuation of this very important mission.

The Monmouth County SPCA
honors Jo Joel for her 35 years of
devoted service to the organization, both
as President of the Auxiliary and
Secretary of the Board of Trustees. Her
leadership and support of the MCSPCA has been instrumental in
the expansion of the programs and services the organization
offers to the residents of Monmouth County.
Jo is a life long resident of Monmouth County, having grown up
in the Keyport/Union Beach area. Her love of animals
developed at an early age on the farms her grandparents
owned. After marrying Ken, an attorney, Jo moved first to
Matawan and then to Middletown where she has lived for the
past forty years. Her community service and civic engagement
extends well beyond the MCSPCA. Jo served on the Board of
the NJ Federation of Women's Clubs for 11 years and was an
officer of the New Jersey, Monmouth County and Middletown
Republican Clubs. In each of the groups she joined, in short
order she was always asked to assume a leadership position.
We are extremely proud to recognize Jo with the Three Wags
Award for her commitment to the animals of the Monmouth
County SPCA.
